I was offered a good non-exclusive license from Casualcollective.com, but I know nothing of the site and I'm concerned it's a scam. Anybody has any experience dealing with them? Or opinions, just judging from their site. They don't seem to have that many visitors, yet they offered me $1,000 for a non-exclusive license.

What's everyone so hung up on paypal for? They take like 5% of your money.

That's only if you sign up for a premium account - Paypal never took a dime from me, well, except for the conversion rate but it's nothing special.

Also, I'm not sure this applies everywhere outside of the US, but in Sweden US checks cost a fortune to cash in. I talked to my bank about it and they said checks are an outdated payment method, but unfortunately widely in use in the States. Unless you can offer paypal or wire transfer, Newgrounds in-game ads unfortunately not an option for flash developers in Europe.

In short - try and get a desktop unless a laptop is absolutely necessary, in which case go for the best specs you can afford - it's no good finding out half a month or so into a project that your laptop's running too slow for you.

I'm on a 1 gig ram laptop now, and I'm actually doing ok in flash, so I can't say I'm worried that a computer with twice as good specs will be too slow for me. But yeah, I would get a stationary if it was an option, but unfortunately, it isn't.

Thanks (but I think I'll stick to PC though)

Would you reckon an Intel Core 2 Duo 1,6 GHz is an ok processor for a new computer? My current one is an AMD Sempron 1.6 ghz, would the difference be big?

I'm also looking at latptops with AMD Turion 64 X2 processors, but a friend told me 64 won't do any difference unless the software you're using is specifically built to support it.

Thanks vengeance.

I'm not wondering about minimum specs though (my current laptop meets them allright), I'm wondering about what specifically would make a computer run flash more smoothly. Currently, I'm looking at a Hewlett & Packard laptop with 2 gb ram and a Pentium Dual-Core T2330 (1.6 ghz), but as I said, I'm not really sure what kind of computer would be ideal.

Hi, I'm about to buy a new laptop, which I'm mainly going to use to make flash games. I dunno what kind of specs I should be looking for though, any ideas?

Is the graphic card relevant at all, when using flash?
if not, what is most important? Loads of RAM? Processor speed?
Are Dual 64 processors pointless when using flash?

etc.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

You still getting the same clicks and visitors?

Well, I guess visitors are down but I still get around 1000 hits a day. But as I said, CTR has stayed the same while the CPM has taken a dive.

Hey, how are people's websites doing. My site used to bring in about $1 in CPM, but now it's less than $0.08, through adsense, even though the CTR has stayed at around 1%. The page was offline for nearly half a year and just went back online, but is that the reason? Or does adsense simply suck now?

You really are stupid, aren't you?
I AM moving on to a different host, which you would know if you read what I wrote. I'm not informing people of the ADM/Axis change, I'm telling them Axis are sons of bitches and I'm giving people the advice to change host, if they haven't already. And if you've got nothing to do with Taylor/ADM, what do you care?

Jessi, are you stupid, or what? I don't care too much about the $4, but I do care that Taylor sells my account off to some low-life offshore company which kicks me out, forcing me to find a new hosting company. I'm not complaining here to get my 4 bucks back, I'm telling others not to waste any of their money on Axis hosting. Man, you really need to get your tongue out of Taylor's god damn ass...

Man, just looking at Axishosting website, I'm astonished at the unprofessionality of it all - riddled with spelling errors - "WARRENTY", "dedeicated", "attornies", grammatical mistakes, horrible punctuation, etc.

And the meta description? "hosting website of unlimited bandwidth and offshore adult with new carrier technology dedeicated hosting-low price and super fast hosting world wide"

NEVER, EVER EVER trust a company offering unlimited bandwidth. And the fact that it mentions "offshore adult" is sure a nice touch, isn't it.

I'm pretty sure our man "Tina" is exactly that - a man, probably in his teens or early twenties, no formal education, trying to make some quick bucks by hosting pornography and possibly illegal sites as well, considering how the site stresses how its servers are "offshore" - i.e. out of reach for mainland cops. That they offer "FREEDOM TO CREATE ANYTHING" sure is a bad omen.

Thanks a lot Taylor, yeah, bet this wasn't about money at all huh. You sold us out, and you sold us out bad.

Fuck Axis hosting. After problems with the payment (my subscription payment apparently went to ADM and not Axis, according to Axis that's MY fault even though nobody said a word on how everybody with subscription payments should cancel them), I complained and the the customer service basically told me to fuck off, saying they don't need my lousy $4 a month anyway and they won't renew my account the next billing period. And of course, they won't help me get a refund for the money I accidentally paid to Taylor or whoever.

I'm counting on Taylor to give me back my 4 bucks as soon as possible, but I can't forgive him for without any advance notice transfer us to such arrogant bastards.

I hope as many NG'ers will terminate their accounts with these SOBs. they're not worthy your money, that's for sure.

In the meantime, anybody know any good substitute for ADM? I need to find a new one within 2 weeks...

(sorry for the nondescriptive title but I really don't know what the name is for what I'm looking and I don't have space enough in the subject line to define it)

I know this is probably really really REALLY easy but it's one of those things, if you don't know them, you just don't.

Say I have a variable which defines a place I want to blow up
Placetoblowup="restaurant"

What code do I use to make a movieclip, defined by that variable "placetoblowup", in this case "restaurant", do a certain action, like go to a specific frame?
What I usually do is something like

if (blowup == "west") {
_root.west.gotoAndStop("blowup");
} else if (blowup == "east") {
_root.east.gotoAndStop("blowup");
}else if (blowup == "north") {
_root.north.gotoAndStop("blowup");
}

etc etc etc

but I*m sure there is a code which would just make this a one-liner...
something like
_root. (placetoblowup) .gotoAndStop("blowup")

Did that make any sense?

Any help will be much appreciated..!

All i did was tween a graphic across the screen. No mc's used, no action script at all.

It may not give it the same nice effect, but if you want to do something simple, there you go.

that's actually fucking smart, although it leaves you with little possibilites to alter the animation...

Hey there. I've replied to your emails, and I see that your email to ADM was replied to as well. All the emails were replied to in less then an hour. I am still awaiting your information so that I can issue you a credit for the downtime.

==after searching Mail, I see that I have sent you 5 emails since March 3rd with no replies.

I find that very odd, the only mail I got from you, after sending two mails, was this one (and frankly, it was not sent in less than an hour):

"Hi Marcus,

I thought Id replied to you a while ago. What is your paypal email and
monthly payment amount?"

A mail which I've also replied to, twice. I've never ever had any troubles with my yahoo-mail before, so I doubt that there should be anything wrong on my end.
