At 4/30/09 08:56 AM, carlosbarn wrote: If a 13 year old boy was caught with pills, then yea it would be ok. Stop trying to make this sound like a sexist thing when it isn't.

But it would be considered far worse if a male secretary was involved with stripping a 13 year old boy. Men near naked children will always be considered more suspicious than women near naked children. The world is sexist no matter what. I'm not making it that way.

When it comes down to it, they had no right to strip search a student without the parents' consent.

Now if the female nurse put on a strap on while the female secretary had some kind of corsete on without underwear and they handed the girl over I'd see where it's wrong. She was caught with pills and even teens have been known to put them in places like that.

The cough drop guy though... damn you have a strict school

You do know that it was Ibrupofen. It's as hard to get your hands on as cough drops. You can kill yourself if you overdose on it, but you can also kill yourself with a tie or a pencil.

In Ireland schools won't give tablets (paracetamol, ibrupofen, etc) to students, mainly by their own choice because it's their ass in legal trouble if something happens, but it's perfectly OK for a student to bring ibrpofen to school.

Topic: Top 100 video game songs

Posted: 04/30/09 08:54 AM

Forum: Video Games

You've got it fairly well covered.

I still think the best song from Silent Hill is the acoustic guitar that plays while James explains the letter from Mary in Silent Hill 2. It's not on the OST and doesn't seem to have a name.

The only version I can find of it is, for some reason, in this video of ferrets.

I'd also be inclined to throw in Clothos from Columns on the Megadrive.

And as far as Final Fantasy goes I'm surprised VII's Prelude and Aerith's Theme aren't in there.

Maybe you're just sick of seeing them in every list of good video game music ever.

I was also surprised to see Opera House "Aria Di Mezzo Carattere". One of the best FF songs ever, but you rarely hear mention of it.

The only problem I see here is that they didn't find anything, if they had found something the story would've been completely different.

If a 13 year old boy was strip searched by the male nurse in his school and a male secretary would that be OK too? A 13 to 16 year old girl tends to be a lot more self conscious of her body than nearly any other person.

Not only did they have no right to do this but what they were doing it for was ridiculous.

A weapon or explosive I could understand, but over the counter pain killers???

Posted: 04/30/09 07:48 AM

Forum: Video Games

Fucking loads of games.

I'd actually say I bought the majority of games that I've owned just by looking at it in the shop.

Monkey Island, Battle Arena Toshinden, Silent Hill, Ridge Racer, Tekken, Tobal No. 1, Myst and The City Of Lost Children all come to mind.

The biggest payoff compared to what I was expecting was definitely Bushido Blade though. Or, if you include areas outside of games, then Discworld II would be the biggest payoff because it introduced me to Terry Pratchett and I've read everything he's written since I played it.

The college I went to actually had some funny shit written on the toilet walls, but I can't remember any of it.

I only remember that the elevator was made by Schindler and had a big metal plate that said Schindler on it. Of course, we call elevators 'lifts' in Ireland and the UK so with a quick bit of marker work it had become Schindler's Lift.

Which is why Mr. Miyagi from The Karate Kid calls his pupil "Daniel-San" instead of Dan.

San is the Japanese form of 'Mr.'.

Daniel san basically means Mr. Daniel.

And I forgot to say that I've only ever heard of the Japanese 'dan' to mean black belt rank in karate. White up to brown being kyu.

Forum: Art

The main problem is the same problem that most people (including myself) have when they start out and decide that they're going to draw cartoons.

You really need to study real life before you're able to make it work.

Here's a small remake from me. I put fuck all time into it and fuck all work, but you can see that I made a preliminary underlying sketch to judge the figures and see where I wanted my lines to be. You honestly do need to work on real life before you're able to judge cartoons because it gives a sense of weight and volume that is necessary to know before anything else.

What I've done isn't good but it has more 'feel' to it in comparison.
