There's definitely sexual bias in these matters but I feel that there should be to some extent.

Having sex with a hot female teacher when you're 15 would be considered fairly damned cool by your classmates and probably something that you'd still be bragging about in your 40s.

For a girl it's a little bit different. I think there'd be a huge amount of shame and regret involved. Obviously this is a generalisation but I don't think you can treat men and women exactly the same on all subjects regardless of what PC people try to push and sex is a completely different experience for both genders............again in general.

So in summary...........

Niiice!

Female Teachers Wrong for Sex

You probably just have a cold.

My friend's two year old daughter has it at the moment and she's fine. No different than she would be with a normal flu. Her aunt got it too and she was completely fucked. Delirium, sweats, vomiing and whatever else you can imagine.

It's completely different depending on the person. There are apparently a few cases around here where people get it and don't even know until after, having thought that they just had a head cold.

What you people fail to realize is that the boxes that are in the true column are about 99 percent the size of the ones in the false column. The sun gets warmer and cooler on a consistent rate, and global temperature responds on a consistent rate, which hasn't been affected in the last 400 million years. I would post a graph, but I'm tired of arguing with you conspiracy nuts every day, and can't be bothered to scroll through my folders.

It's a completely simplified version of it and he admitted that himself.

Again I'll point out that he's not a doomsayer and neither am I, but I have to agree with his logic when it comes to a problem with so many variables and uncertanties. You take the worst case scenario of each option and choose the path that will avoid the worst of the worst case scenarios.

Forget about global warming. Just forget about any information about any subject and tell me the flaw in that argument. It's perfectly sane.

The Earth is warming yes, but it is not caused by human beings. It is a cycle that occurs every century or so where the temperature increases extremely then drops quickly. We cannot stop it as it is nothing to be fixed. We should just let it be.

I think that to an extent, you're correct, but surely our use of things like petrol and other carbon dioxide emitting things are contributing to it?

Exactly. The man isn't really even making a point about whether or not global warming is something completely catastrophic that we need to work against or whether it's bullshit that we should ignore. He's just saying that, if those are the two arguments, then fighting against it when it doesn't exist is much better than ignoring it if it does and it's logically sound.

It's like saying that wearing a motorbike helmet whilst riding a motorbike is better than not wearing one because you might get hit in the head by a brick flung by a random kid on the side of the road.

But they've thrown in a such an unbelievably random thing that people suddenly pounce on the fact that a child throwing a brick that hits you in the head as you cruise by at 100mph is so outlandishly unlikey that helmets are a stupid idea and should be abandoned.

The far fetched idea (brick to the head) is put there to get widespread attention but the underlying fact that we aren't doing as much as we could (just wearing the goddamned helmet in case of other things such as crashing and hitting your head on the road) is what should really be focussed on.

Basically there's clean energy, that's easily tapped, that's more or less free after the initial setup and it can completely transform the world. Not only by helping third, second and first world countries, but also by ensuring that we don't contribute to polluting the earth as much as we do regardless of whether or not we are contributing to the current climate.

Rich stay rich and poor stay poor is the only real argument against it.

It's not really skeptical at all.

He's taken the main arguments and put them into a logical state of opposing outcomes to come to a rational mode of action.

I don't fully believe that things will get quite as bad as some people say and I don't think he does either, but what he is saying is that we should do what we can to stop contributing to something that may theoretically cause hardship as opposed to hoping for the best and I'd have to agree.

I still think Silent Hill beats all other horror games for really scary shit.

Sure Dr. Salvador and Nemesis got to you, but it was more in the sense of fear you get just before being hit by a car. The split second panic of 'OhShitOhShitOhShit'.

Silent Hill gives you more of the sense of fear of being in a cabin in a woods, at night, with no communication with the outside world while the freaky bitch from The Ring is outside singing Mary had a little lamb and you've just realised that you're chained to the floor and the TV suddenly turns on and Jigsaw's puppet Billy starts to tell you that he wants to play a game.

Me too. Why I would feel the urge to pay money for a game that simulates that is beyond me.

Topic: The "Waste of Time" Paradox

Posted: 08/10/09 06:49 PM

Forum: Video Games

Technically, playing video games is a waste of time when you consider that you could be using that time to enhance yourself in terms of learning a new language, studying a course at home or any other amount of stuff that could make you a more widely knowledgeable person.

Obviously this only applies to people who spend hours of their time playing games everyday instead of just a short while. A person who spends the same amount of time watching soaps and crap on TV is wasting their time in the same exact way though.

I play video games a lot and I do feel that my time could be better spent, but at the same time I don't really feel too bad about it. There are certain games that I see as a real waste of time though.

Guitar Hero for instance. You spend hours upon hours perfecting a technique to get a high score. Why not put that time into learning to play a real guitar?

The Sims is a bit fucked up too. You get up, go to work, make dinner, keep your house clean, make sure you have enough sleep and so on. Why not just live a real life and make actual money and acquire actual items?
