I contacted Wade.
Wade contacted Ross.
That's all that we could have done so far. Just wait it out.
Holy moley! I went to the audio administration page and something seems to be severely wrong with the system.
I'm not going to touch your account/approve you until I contact an administrator.

Too bad NG doesnt offer other ways to gain experience.....
Everyone, including the level 30 user, would be getting the same amount of experience. It would do little good that way, and I don't believe it should be changed =)

Yeah, but I'm willing to wager that he used one of the many availible image-to-text converters, most of which use the font courier new so the spacing is even. Obviously this text image wasn't "created" to compensate for that.
I had an accident once where one of my front teeth cut entirely through my lower lip (i.e. I had an actual hole under my lip that you could see through). The doctor was quite shitty. He gave me a dose of Novocaine and did the operation.
The job he did was quite poor. I have a lump of scar tissue that's almost inside (but slightly under) my lower lip.
Sorry to hear about your botched operation, though. Can't blame you for wanting to get it removed.
And I thought my dad was bad because he almost sent me to military school for not always doing my homework...
Wade's job deals primarily with whiny users who feel that NG staff owe them service when in reality it's provided as a courtesy.
I think he should have a monthly quota of 10 to 15 accounts that he can delete just to make himself feel better =)
Wade already stated explicitly that the only language to be used on the BBS is English =]
Thinking quickly, I know I want:
- Increased amount of space for your submission description
- Ability to view Flash your music was used in SORTED BY DATE
- A voting incentive to increase the amount of fair votes that each submission receives (i.e. Blam/Protect points. NO EXP INCENTIVES). The Audio Portal is like NG's underdog. Due to lack of user participation, unfair voting practices are able to sink decent submissions in to the depths amongst thousands of other submission, perhaps never to be heard.
- Some sort of submitting incentive (Awards? Having your profile display how many submissions your music was used in? Nothing too outward and flamboyant)
- A better way for popular artists to surface (Submission scores don't seem to cut it due to problems I've already stated). How about being able to find artists by the amount that their loops have been used or downloaded?
- A new categorization system. Many websites implement a categorization system where you provide a list of "tag" words that help identify the content. For example, if you made a Christmas song, you could provide the tag words of "Holiday, Christmas, Snow" etc. to help authors narrow down their search for music. Although there are many ways you could probably do this, that's one way.
I don't want to submit any of my current music until some nice changes are made. I'm not being stubborn. I know NG staff are always bending over backwards to increase the site's functionality. I'm just waiting it out until it becomes the Audio Portal's turn =)

Whoa, people. Although this thread has evolved in to a great resource for abusive review flagging, some people jump in a little too deep!
Taking a look at the link that FrankTheHedgehog posted, I can see that many reviews are flagged heavily that I feel don't constitute an abusive review.
Note to remember: Tom Fulp prefers that short, yet positive reviews not be removed.
I'm thinking that short reviews should be ok if they contain positive comments. I know I've never minded someone saying "You rock!" or something of the sort. Any encouragement is good. :)
So please don't flag them!

Remember that you're clicking a link that says ABUSIVE! By flagging non-abusive reviews, you add them to the list the mods need to work through and it's counterproductive.
Hell, even some of my non-abusive reviews have been marked as abusive.

Ya, that calculator is damn good, and benzine, why even think of 30, when it's unreachable and there are better looking levels ;)
I see this all the time when people talk about the level calculator. It doesn't even show the calculation for level 30, because it assumes that the level 30 user deposits every day. He could only be talking about 127 years to level 29 =)
I'm a little put-off by the fact that it's basically the NG Halloween header with "Happy Easter" pasted on it.
HeadOn is a headache remedy that OBVIOUSLY is applied directly to the forehead.
However, If you consult the almight Wikipedia, you'll learn it's mostly made out of wax and is effective only as a placebo.
Headon became popular from it's bland, repetitive advertising. There are many parodys of it on YouTube as well.

But you've never heard of the quote "There's no such thing as a free lunch?". The last time I've eaten a school lunch was 5 or 6 years ago in Junior High. If I remember correctly, it'd cost a couple bucks. However, it was Papa John's pizza every day. It never got old!
I've only taken 3 classes (as in three periods) in all four years of high school. I have no idea what school lunch is like in these parts anymore.
I took most of my classes at college, where you buy real food
Like a few users have said, you can get files manually uploaded by an administrator, given that you've taken sufficient measures to optimize the file size. There have been instances in the past where extremely popular games would bite a large chunk out of NG's bandwidth. They weren't quite 20mb, though =)
You probably don't have the correct video codec. Usually, whenever I've run in to this problem, I'd get the DivX codec. It's very common and could be the one you need.
-10,000 cool points for having a desktop I've seen 3 times before and having Norton!
I'm pretty sure this thread belongs as a post in a larger thread ;)
Heck. One of MY reviews, which was two years old, got deleted. I don't even feel it was abusive. At least I didn't break any review guidelines, but it happens. Nothing's going to happen to you.

M-Bot is a bot, not a mod, just like P-Bot is the portal bot, and A-Bot is the audio portal bot. The PM you got is automated, and is sent when a review is deleted.
I wish you the best of luck in getting a response.
This is a parody of a parody thread. Not much of a good one. You even used the same ending line. I'd link us but what's the use?
From what I see, you don't seem to be breaking any review guidelines. That is, with the possible exception of the review title and the score you gave it.
This is what drives me crazy. As I have stated in my thread, people will often flag reviews just because the person doesn't like the submission.
Also, check out this similar thread for more information on this, and what you can do about it.

The review guidelines clearly state that accusing a submission of being stolen is wrong.
If you believe an entry is stolen, do not comment about it in your review. If you are wrong, you may convince other users that the entry is stolen and you may cause a legitimate entry to receive an unfairly low score, or have the whistle blown on it!
Although claiming a game is a ripoff of something else might not be exactly the same, I believe it's close enough to flag as abusive for the same reasons that the review guidelines give. Who wants people saying they've ripped off of something else in reviews of their submission? When people even come close to that comment about my Audio Portal music, it nearly drives me crazy.
At 10/11/06 04:38 AM, Cereal wrote:
"blam this piece of crap!!!"
Clearly against the review guidelines.
"Do not use reviews to express your feelings that the entry should be BLAMMED. If you post "BLAM THIS" or something similar you will be banned. Use the review option to tell the author how they can improve their work."
"this is crap all of it!"
"horrible, give up on flash"
"I'll come ot your house and kill you"
"never make flash again"
The more they insult the author instead of commenting on the submission, the closer they will get to having actions taken against them. Obviously none of those "reviews" offer any good. Although having a bit more context always helps, I often consider suggestions to "give up" or "never make flash again" as insulting the author and take action with confidence.

wtf? How was that abusive? Seriously tell me because im stumped. or show me what the rest of the review was, that was over 2 years ago!
People who flag shit for no reason should get the garbage whistle!
Do you remember what the review title was? There have been a handful of instances where the review title would be something like "ur an asshole" or "fuck you, fag" and justify having the review deleted, although the review body may be free of such content. I really hate to say that, though, since it's automatically assuming that you've done something wrong. A mistake is always a possibility.
At 10/11/06 03:14 PM, Brandon53 wrote: Oh wonderful more past posts deleted, what fucking mindless 12 year old is going thru reviews from months ago to dig up dirt on people?
Again, if you've written reviews a while back that you regret (especially considering the renewed enforcement of the review guidelines), I wouldn't worry much at all. The worst that's going to happen is the deletion of a review and an automated PM stating that it happened. We always (hopefully) keep the review date in mind and refrain from banning users for reviews they probably forgot they've written.

BTW, who are all the review mods?
I was going to get a list of audio mods for Rucklo. I could get a list of review mods while I'm at it. However, I wouldn't just post it right off the bat. It'd have to be okay with the admin that provides it to me. There's also the fact that many mods aren't active at all.
It must be a slow news day, because if this crash happened in any location other than New York City, it would probably be mentioned briefly, if at all.

Yeah, exactly. But I am not sure that the review moderators always are aware of the real reason to why a review was flagged, which is probably another reason to why I only have a silver whistle... =/
Maybe when you flag a review as abusive, you should be given the opportunity to provide a short description as to why the review should be considered abusive. Not only would it clarify the abusive nature like in the situation you presented, but it could possibly make people realize that some reviews aren't abusive at all, or at least make them provide a reason that we know doesn't make the review abusive.
That's something we could present to Ross.
I'll respond to more of these comments later but I'm short on time.
At 10/10/06 10:47 PM, Cereal wrote: The earlier pages of "rages gift" are useless, the reviews hardly stay up for a few hours, I just posted a users reviews, he was banned in a few minutes. Sometimes when I click abusive it says they no longer exsist
I think if a certain review gets flagged enough times, it'll get bumped to the top of the list. The reviews that are flagged the most will get taken care of first.
So if the people in that thread all go and vote a review to be abusive, then you'd better act quickly to do the same or it'll be too late =) And hopefully, it was FLAGGED CORRECTLY and you all won't lose points.
