I won't deny it, there were plenty of plot holes. I asked these same questions, but felt that he only set up this trap because he was personallhy affected by it this time. Neville himself said they had no social skills when he saw the male expose himself to sunlight, but he missed the clear look of loss on the male's face. He had no need to set up any sort of trap before, so he never did-- necessity is the mother of invention, remember.
Where would Neville get the experience to so efficiently and quickly set up a trap like that? It couldn't of been military, he was a scientist. And I doubt Lead Male Darkseeker #1 could of learned how to make a trap like that just from watching, or else if he was that intelligent, as you said, they would of omgwtfteh1337pwnzorz Neville already.
But you do bring up a good point. If they had any sort of intelligence, why weren't they systematically going through each and every house in NYC looking for survivors? The island of Manhattan has over 1.5 million people in it, so even if a third of these got turned into Darkseekers they'd have 500,000 of them able to comb the entire island looking for survivors. Why, in 3 years, did they not find his house?
Either giant plot hole, or I was right about them not being intelligent enough to set up a trap and that Neville was just a madman
I'm sure we can keep sponsorship in place but still have a dirty car.
I-Robot 2: This time with vampires
And how the fuck did he have running water?
More plot holes:
What was sprayed on his steps?
Why would he fortify his house if he had no "panic" room?
Where did Lead Female protagonist and mute kid come from?
Why would he only have 1 gun clip on him?
And anyone else think the part where he suffocates Sam and then he goes to the library and goes to the mannequin and says "I promised a friend I would say hi to you..........please say hello" the most emotional part of the movie?
