I use references all the time. Say I'm drawing a wilderness scene, I'll pull up a couple pictures of trees, some of deers and so on. Tracing in most cases is not very artistic. It can be used in some instances but not very often maybe to get a certain perspective or something? And recoloring is just a waste of time and resources.

Response to: Do you use Paint or Photoshop? Posted June 12th, 2010 in Art

You also prefer breaking rules.

I'm sure there's probably been a thread like this somewhere, but until it is removed I prefer photoshop.

Response to: Art commissions and copyright? Posted June 12th, 2010 in Art

Basically, in my opinion, unless you plan to do alot of commisions and make it into a career or something of that nature, the just stay away from copyrighted material and just do freelance artwork.

Response to: Art commissions and copyright? Posted June 12th, 2010 in Art

No problem.

I'd still do a little research if I were you though, like I said in my other post I'm not an expert and I'm not 100% sure I'm correct (like 88% percent sure lol)

But good luck! :-3

If someone asks you to draw a character they created your free to do that all you want.

Response to: Art commissions and copyright? Posted June 12th, 2010 in Art

Im not so sure thats true. I may be wrong but most game characters, art, or whatever is available to the public under a creative commons license. Meaning your free to be creative and make fanart, or whatever but not sure that entitles you to sell your work. You may have to get a license or something to do it.

Once again I'm not sure that I'm correct on this as I'm just basing this off of the Bungie creative commons license.

Also I do believe this thread breaks some rules.... wont go into that *cough* no art in starting thread *cough*

THanks ReNaeNae for proving me wrong :) lol.

But best way to do it is to just experiment and do it your own way. Thats how I learn everything. Figure things out let yourself be proven wrong and not get offended and you'll learn. :P

Response to: help in photoshop CS3,again Posted June 11th, 2010 in Art

They only way you would be able to change it would be to actually invest time in it and paint it with the paintbrush. Use layers and try that. I'm no expert so someone feel free to correct me and make me feel dumb :)

Response to: help in photoshop CS3,again Posted June 11th, 2010 in Art

I really dont understand your question...

If your talking about the dark navy blue color in the background then you could either use maic wand and see if it will go that way, you could use lasso tool and separate each section out, or you could use the eraser/brush tool and go from there. I'm not sure if your trying to make it a transparent background or a different color. If you could clarify your question a little bit then someone could probably give you a batter answer.

personally i think thats too dark. It is however lacking the dark darks as my high school art teacher would have said. But I think the later picture just has too much dark.

Response to: Pixelnaut's Art Posted June 7th, 2010 in Art

maybe it's just me but it sort of looks like the silhouette of a city on the robots legs! nice job. Kinda makes me sad about my robot lol

Response to: Bill Is Dead Posted June 7th, 2010 in General

It's true. Bill is dead. Its sad. :'(. On a happy note it's rumored that in the L4D1 version of the DLC you can choose who dies. We can finely get rid of Louis since he never had anything interesting to say anyway.

Response to: Voice Actor Advertisement thread Posted June 6th, 2010 in Audio

Hey Guys!

I know your thinking wtf? Who is this guy? But just hold on and you will see my true power within.
So anyway, I'm a 19 year old Caucasian male, so that you'll know roughly what my voice potential is. I'm interested in voice acting for some movies/games heck I'll even voice a puppet show. I have an interesting kind of deep voice. I'm from the south so I do have a slight southern-Alabama accent. I can do a British accent as well as a few other accents and can learn almost any accent if I have something to go on. I can raise my pitch and lower my pitch. I can do fighting noises, snoring, running grunts, sighing, and quite a few other sound effects and such. Not really all that great with non-animate effects like explosions or stuff of that nature. I'll get a sample of my voice up ASAP so that you can better determine if I'm what your looking for.

You can either PM me here or send me an email at paradise.lucas@gmail.com

Thanks Guys!

Response to: Final years of our childhoods Posted June 6th, 2010 in General

Dude I just graduated last year, and I know exactly how you feel. You go through school without a care in the world. Doin some pot and gettin same tang, and nothing could be better. Then senior year rolls up and damn the world has just ended. You gotta start thinking about college or a job thinking about moving out on your own and starting a family or what not. Then you get home after graduation and the summer goes by and then next school season rolls up and your like fuck...Im bored out of my mind! So you do some pot and get some tang and...life repeats. Childhood never ends.

Response to: American Videogame Revolution Posted January 28th, 2010 in Video Games

I believe that the reason we are seeing more and more games being produced in America is because it has become a custom. Gaming really wasn't popular when it first started and so anyone was up for the market, now that more and more kids grow up playing video games they begin to want to create them, leading to more and more designers. Japan has the traditional games while America tries to produse more modern and innovative games.
