I think you missed the point of this thread. He was talking about members from those countries., not the countries themelves. If you bothered to read some of the posts you would that there are alot of embittered Americans whose patriotism disapeered years ago.

Pokemon has a rich multiverse spread across numerous games, TV shows and a card game. So does DBZ, only more so.

Akira is just one movie. There can only be so much to talk about. And there isn't. I own it. I've seen it 4 times. Unless you've noticed some really interesting symbolism in it I haven't already noticed....

But I doubt it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Reagan give chemical weapons to Iraq?

I don't have any proof beyond vague recollections of articles and what other people have said (with bias) but I'm pretty sure he did for the Iraqi-Iranian War.

What if they have no money for such an army? How can the Palestinians buy weapons with no jobs? Give me a detailed curse of action for an irrate group of Palestinians to properly wage war on Isreal.

Al-Quiada is an international organization. How can they declare war if they aren't even a coutry? That would be like the Catholic Church declaring war on China. Predominatly Catholic nations are thousands of miles away from China. That would require not only huge navies, but massive funding to provide support for such ships.

If Al-Quaida wanted to declare a proper war, they would have needed not only a huge army of jihaders, but a respectable sized navy with ships that could go toe-to-toe with 100 billion dollar U.S. carriers. No way in hell could they have done that.

Suicide bombing is much cheaper than a real war.

Response to: How To Deal With North Korea Posted January 8th, 2004 in Politics

But Isreal has never threatened to use them offensively. North Korea has.

Based on a National Geographic article from not too long ago (I still have the map in my room), both sides (North and South) are in favor of happier relations, maybe reunification in the distant future. But the U.S. military pressence in SK has the NK nervous and SK is afraid to have them removed.

Best course of action? Pull the U.S. troops out of South Korea. It can defend itself and its not like they'd be of much use in a nuclear war anyway. This will show North Korea that the U.S. doesn't want a war either and everyone is happy.

Unless North Korea then decides to invade. That would suck.

Van Winkle justified classifying protesters as terrorists: "I've heard terrorism described as anything that is violent or has an economic impact, and shutting down a port certainly would have some economic impact. Terrorism isn't just bombs going off and killing people."

You mean like the war in Iraq, the very thing they're trying to protest? Yessiree Bob, those peace loving hippies are dangerous! Cletus, fetch the rubber bullets and tear gas! We've got stoners to smoke!

Response to: Free Speech Zones Posted January 6th, 2004 in Politics

:The article
:Denise Lieberman of the American Civil Liberties Union of Eastern Missouri commented, "No one could see them from the street. In addition, the media were not allowed to talk to them. The police would not allow any media inside the protest area and wouldn't allow any of the protesters out of the protest zone to talk to the media."

Look out for them protestors! Them's CRAZY!!

:Bursey was standing amid hundreds of people carrying signs praising the president. Police told Bursey to remove himself to the "free-speech zone." Bursey refused and was arrested. Bursey said that he asked the police officer if "it was the content of my sign, and he said, 'Yes, sir, it's the content of your sign that's the problem.' "

That would kind of debase whoever's idea it was to infiltrate the Pro-Bush mob.

Somehow, I keep feeling like 1984 is only a few years away.

So you like and enjoy porn? Then what's so big about some girl slapping her ass on tv? Another example. Swordfish. Great movie. Rated 14a and Halley Berry shows off her boobs in the movie. And it's 14a. If they're getting mad at Christina, they need to look at other things too.

Porn is marketed at adults. Pop music videos are marketed to people who like pop music: preteens and teenagers. There is a bit of difference between seeing a naked woman (top only mind you) in a movie intended for adults and a scantly clad whore singing to twelve year old boys.

As long as they weren't electing or imposing leaders, then it's anarchy.

But here's the thing: they DID have leaders. Hobbiton had a mayor. The Bagginses were aristocrats. So were the Brandybucks and the Tooks. They even had a police force.

The Shire was NOT an anarchy.

Response to: The Next World Leader... Posted January 2nd, 2004 in Politics

Let's make a list of successors

-Great Britian
-European Union
-China
-Malaysia
-OPEC in general
-Japan

Great Britian has been in a steady decline as ar as foriegn influence goes for a while now. Remember when the sun never set on the British empire?

Russia doesn't have the economic power.

OPEC nations in general will face problems when the oil runs out. Unless they heavily invest their fortunes in other industries....

Same deal with Malaysia but I've heard that they're building an heavy manufacturing base and have an impressive shipping fleet...

European Union could come out strong with the supiority of the euro over the American dollar.

China has been a powerhouse as of late and with their economy gradually shifting towards capitolism they may become a force to reckon with.

-I'd say that right now Japan is the challenger. A heavy technology export economy to rival and surpass the U.S. in areas has given them pretty good leverage.

In order I'd put them as:
1. China
2. Japan
3. European Union
4. Malaysia

Well, thats my opinion. Feel free to mock or ignore it.
