any word on whether you'll consider mailing the picture back? i sent mine with a return free coupon so shipping isnt an issue, or do you want the piece for 2010 sketchbook archive? just wondering, there has yet to be a difinitive answer to that question.

if its a no go, again, im cool with that, but if you mail it back, then ima put that sucker in a frame :)

It's a great program if I say so myself, and easy to get the hang of. BUT I do love flash more for named above reasons.

My advice is very simple; Use em all. Adobe made their software specificly so you can easly drag one file into the other without much complications.

If I think of starting a webcomic, it'd go like this;

- Sketch out (paper/pencil)
-Trace out the roughness in Flash
-Create a blank document in illustrator and prepare it with borders etc.
-Drag characters and everything you did in flash into the ill. file
-Tweak and adjust to your needs
-Finally, export it into a PS moddable file (png/jpg/pds/...anything you prefer)
-Import in PS and tweak the colors/burn/texture/extra effects.

Save as... AND ur done.

Thats the way I'd like to work, and gets the best out of every program.

BUT...There are so many other methods out there for you to explore to create something you desire.
IMO, the best effect is gotten when you use all of the programs together.

I could talk about my love for adobe all day.

im going to give this a shot, it sounds really good! i cant sketch on paper because i like to undo and redo until i have my desired pose but besides that this sounds perfect!

(btw to let you know its a comic comic, not a webcomic)

thanks everyone! ^_^

hey guys, im having a major problem im hoping you can help me with...

my problem is ive gotten really used to flash as a drawing program, and now i want to do a project and im wondering if it isnt worth switching....

i have flash, photoshop, and illustrator all cs3, and i have tried photoshop and illustrator.

basically the thing i like most about flash is that it smooths my storkes so they dont look totally horrible, i dont have all that steady a hand and so i need that option. i also like that i can easily paint an object, fill it, and tweak it without searching forever in a forest of options.

i know as drawing programs photshop and illustrator are both extremely powerful but i like flash because its user friendly and convenient.

basically i want to do a comic, im using a cintiq tablet, and im struggling in flash and thats why im considering switching.

are there options in illustrator or photoshop to make them feel more like flash? is there a program or options in either program specifically for drawing comics...

any assistance would be appreciated, thanks!

hey, i know im not the only one out there with a ds, and i KNOW im not the only one out there with an edge card, or cyclone or what have you, so this is my flimsy attempt to turn this into something creative, perhaps a place where newgrounders can place their homebrew themes. Maybe someone have done a NG theme? i'd like to see it! so heres mine to start things off, included is the main menu background and the link to the downloadable theme, complete with functional buttons is here!

the ones i want to use i got from newgrounds, so dont worry about copyright crap, but i understand you dont want sculptural work on the paper...

so yeah, also i will probably do a tiny bit of test on the back as well, so that i know what works...

you might just get a lot of blank paper back from canada but it is just as valid as work people spent hours on so maybe to save time, you should have a "blank" section and just put

= canada, because luis doesnt believe it really exsists

i was looking for a facial expression thread or tutorial because i want to get better at expressions so i can rape them with my style.

this is an attempt at a stern facial expression, with a shade of emotion...

please tell me how to improve or if there is a thread i should know about or a turorial, please point it out...

one of my biggest problems is hair, i hate giving my drawings hair, or any kind, because it never ends up looking right...

There is a story behind this character, and he is a big part of my current campaign.

he came from another plane, and used to be a clockwork mastermind, building inevitables and fixing clocktowers.

eventually he settled down and fell in love with a young girl from the material plane.

unfortunately his kind have incredible life spans, and although a long relationship he had with this woman, she eventually died of old age....

it drove the clock maker to madness, unending grief he felt for the love of his life, that he would be plagued with old age.

he devoted his life to inventing, so that he would spare others the grief he endured.

in his final days he reached a break through, a technology that could turn oneself into an inevitable, but it came with a catch...

it meant replacing your heart for a clock, as linear as time is, the one thing that would never stop ticking was this mechanical device.

he used it on himself and now he wanders the lands, a cold empty shell of his warmer days.

far past sanity, he searches for the woman who is already dead, and feels nothing.

THIS... is the BIG one...

for those, who saw the thread for my poster, might recognize this, it is my biggest project, and im doing the deluxe edition...

for those who dont recognize this, its a poster, and what your looking at here, is the first part of it (the top left corner to be exact)

there are nine parts in total, and its going to be a bit of an undertaking...

the final copy will have gray in it (omigosh gray)

and it will be very high resolution, im hoping to sell the poster eventually...

btw the final copy was called "mind static" but i may change the name, but i dont think it matters too much...

I like the style. The only issue is 6'11" and 121lbs? That's kind of impossible, and if it is, that guy is unhealthily anorexic. But I still like it though.

not 6'11"

i really appreciate the constructive feedback, and so ive done a sequel to cubist dave...

this is called "Dave's World"

At 3/26/09 07:30 AM, J-qb wrote: diggin' your scene. I especially like your 'comic-style' sketches, like the first few, and cubist dave, those. Love the hand on cubist Dave. Where you get more realistic, like the self-portrait and the ones of your friend and rachel, you kind of fail, since anatomy is absent.
Today's lesson: Practice anatomy (maybe use some sort of referral drawing) OR keep comic, but most of all: keep 'm coming
