Actually, Autotune is now seen as a meme because of how overkilled it was.
Although it is an extremely useful tool to adjusting your voice pitch subtlely, the robotic sound use of it has died.
Here's a video with a better explaination of it.

Topic: Another article on how labels...

Posted: 12/03/09 01:25 AM

Forum: Audio

Wow, definately gets me thinking of how I want to go about making money off my music. I might just do it the way I plan on doing it now: completely independantly. That way if it bombs, it's out of my pocket, and I won't end up owing a label thousands of dollars (that I may not even need to pay back). If the album is successful and my band makes it big, then I might go for a major label knowing that I'll probably make it as a recouped band and get my royalty checks.
This gave me an idea, I'm currently going through Indie Pool which isn't a label, but allows independant bands to distribute their albums to top music stores (they do much more as well). I'll ask the rep that I'm doing this through how the system works and see if it's better than a major label. IF they are better, than I would recommend them for anyone, and see if there's something like Indie Pool in other countries so that other independant artists won't have to risk getting bullshitted by major labels.
I'll tell you the outcome later.

At first I was indifferent about it at the time, I enjoyed learning many different instruments, but to have the feel for the music I played at the time didn't spark on me.
I wasn't until I moved to where I am now that I realized that I have much more musical potential than I was letting myself believe. And now I try very hard to reach that potential and hopefully become the success I dreamed of being since I was 7, although the reasons for my success at 7 were simply for fame, and now I want success for the music.

I just finished writing out the bagpipe part of the song I'll be doing for the contest, the rest will be easy, but hell this is the first actual bagpipe tune I've written in years.
Tomorrow's kind of a town holiday thing, so I'll have a recording of the bagpipes up on Saturday.

So...
Artist: PMUTA
Song: FREEDOM!!!!

For me, that playthrough I recorded was aweful, I'm glad you liked it though.
I've actually started writing some renditions hoping that one could be used for the game, one rendition would be solo pipes, another rendition would be like a usual pipe band, and the last rendition will sound like a bagpipe orchestra type thing.

I heard something completely different, I have no credible source so don't take my word for it.
I was told that the books were written as a way to promote the drug lords at that time, and that everything in the book had some sort of relation to some sort of drug.
For example: Following the white rabbit represented cocaine, the drinks that made her shrink and grow big were uppers and downers, the caterpillar with his hukka pipe represented opium... and that's all I can remember.
Like I said, I have no credible sources, I only heard this from my sister. But it does make sense.

I would have posted this yesterday but my computer was being kind of screwy, but I fixed that now.
I even copied the message I was going to post haha

I play bagpipes!
But my reed is kinda fucked right now, so I'll have to try to get that working. But as soon as I get it working, I'll give it a shot.
I have a few questions, though. What specific type of war music are you looking for? The Marches (Like Scotland the Brave) are the ones that are supposed to give the most impact, but the Retreat marches sound amazing (have you ever listen to Green Hills of Tyrol?)
If you're not looking for those types, I also know and can learn slow marches, jigs, reels, hornpipes, and others. I have a book that's filled with songs that last up to 15 minutes or more, and the other book has 2-3 minute songs.
So yeah, just PM me if you want me to take a shot at it, and specify what song or type of song you're looking for.

They came out of JAIL, not REHAB. BIG DIFFERENCE. Jail is a violent place, and often just results in people becoming even more violent after they spend time there.

I'm sure the article said that they went to rehab. They wouldn't give privelages in a real jail... would they?

Unless you want them spending decades in jail, still soaking up taxpayer money for a far longer stretch of time than what their rehab would require, or having them put to death at taxpayer expense and denying them an opportunity to repent and try to live as compassionate people, then the only option is rehab while they still have a chance to be molded into normal people.
The way I see it, to them, they're not getting punished or rehabilitated. They're getting rewarded for their actions. Free TV, Computer, all at the taxpayer's expense. That doesn't seem right. If you want children to learn for their mistakes, then you need to punish them. Let them know how real justice is done rather than spoiling them.
Well, I agree that they ARE being let off a bit easily. They should be given harsh punishment and made to know that what they did was horrible, but they have to be released SOMETIME, you know? They've spent the second half of their lives being incarcerated. Maybe they should be given the attention and money it requires to rehabilitate the mentally ill.

I agree with you here, but I only hope that they're given a more harsh environment so they do change, otherwise, this whole thing won't work, and they'll come out the same as they went in.

If they want to be good, it wouldn't cost teh God damned money because they would apparently have some sort of inherent urge to be good people despite years of abuse.
The thing is, they DON'T want to be good, they were still found bullying the other inmates.
Even then, Some of the taxpayers are paying money so two rotten kids can have luxeries that the payer's can't even afford. None of that seems right at all.
OF FUCKING COURSE THEY DON'T "WANT" TO BE GOOD, THEY KILLED SOMEONE AND SPENT ABOUT A DECADE IN A HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT BASED ON IMPRISONMENT. In that kind of environment, it's bully or be bullied. They obviously chose to bully because it came naturally to them, and that needs to be remedied.

I see what you mean, but the way I see it, they don't care if it's a bully or be bullied place, they would bully no matter what kind of place they're in. Even if they were in a Absolute 0 tolerance area.

My arguments are based on the assumption that they still get privelages like TV and Computer
I agree that they should not be pampered, but I still believe that they should be given a chance to show that they can exist as people without being violent.

I didn't say that they should be given the death pentaly, I said that they should be given a longer sentence. Based on your arguments, yeah, they shouldn't be as drastic as I said they should be, but they should still be in there longer than the sentence they were given. That way, they would be more improved.

Alright I actually read the article.

that IS BRUTAL. Not just what they did, but their "punishment"
If I were the law, I'd give those kids until they were 40 until they got out. AND I would take their privelages away. Even though they already did because they were attacking the other prisoners.
I also wouldn't give them anonomity, IF they were given privelages, that way when they get out, they can feel the real punishment.
So yeah, fuck those kids.

However, were they torturing eachother? Or... were other people doing that to them?
Another Note: If I were sent to rehap, I'd hope they had more to do than just dance lessons and cooking. I wouldn't so much mind the video games, but that can get boring.

Find me the link please, I know it's on there somewhere, but I can't find it.

If Disney buys out Bungie, they'll use Bungie to get to Microsoft, considering that X-Box is connected to microsoft and Halo is a top game on X-box. So once they buy out bungie, they'll be getting a share of the benefits Microsoft gets, and they'll use that to their advantage and buy out microsoft. And then they'll go for Google. Then, they'll rule pretty much everything.
Worst case senario, probably lots of loopholes.

I know what you mean. that's where you get connections. Ask your friends to help you promote, they may go to sites that you don't, and they can help you promote on those sites. That's really helpful.
Also, just recently I found a site that helps independant artists distribute their tracks to major stores (I think it's only in Canada, but it's worth looking at)

So as some of you may know, my band is just about ready to release an album. However, I do not want to go through any copyright issues upon releasing the album. so I'm going to need a license for my music so it doesn't get stolen.
So I need recommendations, because I googled to see if any would come up, but I didn't. What licensors would you recommend for a heavy metal band?
