It really matters on your budget. we need to think about our selfs before picking animations that are 3 min and only give 200 bucks.

But if you had a set style(very basic, used puppets, ect. ect. All cheap)

I would go around about 450$

I had a vague plot set-up and I'm not highly obsessed over having it HD quality. I'd save up rather than short-change anybody :D 200$ nowadays with inflation is next to worthless. You can easily blow 200$ on a night at a club. I was sort of thinking 1000$ or more depending. Thanks for the price-quote; i'll keep it in mind

It will vary on a couple of things, like the complexity of the storyboard and how experienced the animator is.

I know that Jazza charges around $500 - $3000 per minute, but he's definitely at the higher end of the scale.

Personally I quote on a case by case basis, and take into account a few of the factors like how long will it take me to finish? Will I be getting any exposure for this project? and do I like the music?

I'm just finishing up on a metal music video that's about 3 minutes long and I charged £750 (around $1200) although tbh I feel like I should have charged more because it has taken me months to finish :(

It was :) I completely get where you're coming from. A lot of people can bang up an animation in 10 hours that's alright but quality takes time and value is relative to that. I'm going to start doing music projects soon and it is useful to hear a general ballpark. I'd want the animator advertised, like at the end of the video there should be more than credits :D nobody watches credits. Like, the plot should blur into "ANIMATED BY: xxxxxx". Thanks for your imput :)

I'd suggest original names. A friend of mine used to take words and shuffle the letters; shuffled insulting words for characters he didn't like and vice versa. You're a good writer; I'd just recommend trying to be a bit less cliche.
