But it all depends on the animator, some might do it for 50 bucks.

I was hoping you guys could help me out and give me an estimate on how much I should pay one?

Let's say we make a 5 minute video, how much would I pay? It's just an example, not a real project I had in mind. Maybe.

It really does depend on how complicated the animation is, if it involves a lot of original frames constantly, the animation will take longer to make. 1 minute could take months, if its like a fighting/war animation! but if its like 2 guys standing around and talking, it could take a day. So i think you should let the animator decide how much he/she thinks a specific scene/animation is worth, and maybe try to compromise after that.

If you wanna work with a decently talented animator, for an animation thats not too complicated and is 5 minutes long, i would guess about 250$

Searching for a programmer Posted July 4th, 2013 in Collaboration

Hey everyone!

My name is Frederik, i'm an artist, and i'm looking for a programmer, to collaborate with.
Like a lot of you folks, my childhood dream was to make a video game, and still really want it, to be reality.
Ive been tossing around an idea, for a solid 2D plat-former, for about 2 month now, and i would really like to see it, as a game.
it includes this little guy: Click me!

That said, i'm really open for ideas. i imagine that programmers wants a creative part in a project, that they will be putting a lot of hours into.
Maybe you want a game about wizards?
Random sketch time!
And I'm willing to give them that! I don't want this project to be "You're my programmer", but more like "we're collaborating, into making a fun and awesome game!". Which is why i'm afraid, that im not able to offer any money.
If the game somehow makes money, the money will be split fairly, for now lets just keep it simple, by saying "50% each", since i don't imagine, that the game will make a ton of money. if the game somehow makes quite a bit of money, i imagine the programmer will be getting a bigger cut, since i'm sure that they work, more than the artist.

And for now, there is only one artist (me), not to worry, i'm decent at backgrounds as well.
Random background

If you're interested, write a comment, or pm me with this information:
-Your name
-Age (its not required, but i would like a person that's somewhat mature)
-How long you been programming
-What program you use, to program (i know flash is the common thing, but i'm open for c++ and such)

if you're a composer reading this post (for some reason), feel free to show some work, i would love some original music for this game.

Thanks for reading!

Really fun game.
Its very simple, but enjoyable with a right ammount of difficulty.
Good controlls and neat level design.

The only things that i think needs to be changed, would be:
-being able to mute the music

-a nice level transition. At the moment it feels very empty clearing a level (not very rewarding).

-This might be a big one, but the art in general. It very boring and simple. Just from looking at the game, i dont feel like playing it (which is too bad, because the game itself is very fun). I suggest you find a talented artist, that can bring up some neat art for this game. I dont think it would take another 5 month to do that, since there is a limited ammount of objects (for what ive seen), and changing them, should be as easy, as opening the symbol and draw on top of the original.

But all in all, very good.

10/10 would bang

Hi, ive been wanting to do some artwork and design (for games), for quite a while now. Im interested in joining this project. Infact, me and my friend have been doing lots of characters, enemies and objects art for about a year now, in hope, that we would find a game project to work on (and because its alot of fun doing). We worked on a game a while ago, but that got cancelled due to school and exams.
I have personally been using flash for about 3 years now, so I feel like, I know this program enough to throw myself directly into, a big project.
here is an example of, one of our character designs: http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/687b82a4fc1c489258f92d45 23315ce8
as you probaly can tell, we are a bit inspired my Edmund McMillen.

i dont really wanna talk about my experience and older works in this comment, so throw me a pm (if you are interested in having me/us to join this game project) and we can talk from there.

Thanks.
