Posted: 06/26/09 04:48 AM

I just started working at an urban music school and learning to use external hardware with my software. right now I use a tascam and a chaos pad with flstudio rewired to cubase as my studio set up to record and work in a live setting with software instruments and real instruments like a guitar and mic.

The place where i work has plenty of different midi keyboards and MDP pads and turntables to work with and link to the software.

Here in burlington vermont I am working part time as a electronic music teacher for teaching fruity loops. but other people who work here teach other programs like ableton and reason. we also have classes that can be taken to learn how to use and perform with turntables and other professional equipment.

pm me if you want more details or have questions.

toxic 3 orion

simply said whats better than a 3xosc? a 6xosc

the toxic 3 orion can be found if you search it but it was replaced for the toxic biohazard for purchase on the fruity loops website.

for mastering palancare nuetronium has been one of the most fun tools to work with.

a new synth I am still learning how to use is absynth 4 i just bought it and its so powerful and complex. I suggest staying away from it unless you like tweaking with sounds.

pm me if you want some free vsts I have collected over the years or if you want to learn how to use a music program. I am an electronic music teacher.

Sadly many popular artists use loopz in the programs. It is the real artists you must search for who make those loopz and appreciate them. one reason why I am not a fan of DJ's like paul oakenfold because they have record labels that allow them to have rights to use clips from other artists to make their own songs.

After an attack on myspace for using a copyright free sample 4 years ago. I have stayed away and havn't used a loop or sample since.

yeah demo version does that!
pm me sometime!
Toxic 3 is one of my top 5 vsts to use in my songs. You shouldnt use 5 in a song though your cpu alone will start to go crazy when processing in fl studio.

toxic 4 biohazard is out also! it has a much darker tonal feel to it and is more powerful. personally I don't like it as much as toxic 3.

I love my Korg Kaoss pad so much!

I hook my bass guitar to it and then the kaoss to an amplifier that goes to my stereo that loops through my computer to my surround sound and back into my computer to be recorded.

lots of detours but it sounds great and when its not hooked up like that I actually use it to make new samples and loops for my tracks by having it output through one program to the kaoss pad and back in to ableton to be recorded.

Sadly I do this all through headphone and stereo cables.

I just got a tascam for christmas so I will be able to do all of this the right way. and profesional way ounce i get an external usb sound card.

anyways glad to see other ppl using the Kaoss pad on newgrounds

I agree with you all the way. That is why I am going to college to become a teacher so I can work anywhere in the world. I plan to live in europe for at least a year or 2, to fully be in on the club scene and see if I can get a cd of my own published and distributed. I am currently learning the Bass guitar right now so I could possibly start a band. So like if i do decide to be on stage I could bring my laptop up with preset looped mixer channels for each track. and run them on and off and effects and then while they are going I can still be playing the bassline live and stuff.

My goal is to come out with a studio album before I start playing live. my other goal is to start finding other people to build music with so eventually I have a band of electronica composers and do something maybe not so dance like but in a sense like the chemical brothers or proppelerheads.

I am at that point where I know how to make songs sound awesome but am loosing my own ideas for song construction to make them memorable like having that build that just makes the listener have a taste of another world.

Do what you can do!

If you don't know how to dj and are only interested in doing it for a job sense. don't do it. Music Needs Emotion and a drive to be hey listen to this and i'll take you somewhere. Most live music artists tend to use ableton since the way its structured is much more easier to work with on the fly. Fl studio your right in how its made to assemble a song not improve. Just keep in mind the europe scene is much harder to become well known in since the artists there are all top notch. start an electronica scene in america we are starving for this scene over here. Lots of people here go " I love this song {everytime we touch}" and call it techno. But then they are clueless when you start talking about artists and DJ's that aren't glammed up in FYE.

enough ranting: If you love music and want to make it big then go all the way or do something creative. If you don't see yourself being live don't make the life commitment to it.

Practice till it soundz good and the way you want it. I was looking back at a few of my tracks and their is no science to how I decide to make a sound be the exact way I want it. You just need to become comfortable with the mixer and understand what each fx does.

like many ppl are saying here:

fl studio is not the program you use when you are going profesional.
its a good program to learn how to construct a song in.
fl studio has its limitations. but all programs do.
most artists in the buisness use ableton or reason. ableton is more for live performances and reason is very powerful without taking up all the cpu.

eventually you do rewire and use a bunch of programs since they all have their benefits and faults.

by the way if you want to listen to a good fl guitar listen to this track I have collabed on:

The song starts off with the basic slayer with no mixer presets after 1:51 where I do my part of the track I used mastering in fl to its finest to make the slayer sound awesome.

These Days:
When I work in fl studio and want guitar. I record my bass or my friends electric through ableton live first then transfer in as an audio clip to fl studio.

Topic: FL8 question about synth

Posted: 12/12/08 08:34 PM

Forum: Audio

well the build Kazmo starts with is pretty easy to do that is all equalization on an envelope and with reverb on an envelope till they both rise to 28 seconds. then he does a technique known as gating. which what our friend said above me is the use of a filter that cuts out frequencies accordingly to the beat.

If You are using Fl studio and vanguard in the mixer put a love philter on it for basic gating presets just remember to use automation clips and your all set.

If you need further help PM me I have been helping many ppl on newgrounds out with Mastering the mixer in fl. I also am willing to take a look at your fl files and doctor them so you can see how to do it.

good luck!

Agrees with above. There is no exact science to EQ but there is techniques you eventually learn through trial and error. go with your ears not with text book descriptions.

Anyways If you need reel solid advice pm me i have been mastering fx for years. One staple to use with music is an equalizer you know how to use, filters to cut frequencies you don't want to hear, envelopes for sound volumes and panning when needed for builds and transitions, and reverb to get the sounds to blend and sound like they belong together.

My goal is to come out with just one album by the end of 2009
My other goal for 2009 is to get one remix of mine on Overclocked Remix

As for other artists on newgrounds I know of Dmess and F-777. I hope to meet and work with some pro's while I am at Newgrounds.

So lets see if 2009 is the year I become a little bit more recognized. which is hard seeing that I am an IDM/ ambient artist for the most part.

Oh I would like to announce the track I am almost finished with for the OC has been put onto NG a half hour ago.

Ice Shattered Flakes (sonic ice cap zone remix)

Thanks for your help Guys! I am starting to notice who the regulars are on this site by looking through the audio forum. which helps since you are the people here who know best on how the NG mechanics work.

I Think I have the good music now. I just need to get heard. Slowly I am trying to get myself up and running on NG. The other day I made banners for the artist page and Icons. And now I plan to make a custom signature that will link to my music. this all takes time but by what you say will make it worth it in the end.
