Response to: I Need some help deviding this code Posted June 23rd, 2009 in Game Development

Lock this thread. I got a hold of one of my friends and he was able to sort the problem out in under 10 minutes. Problem solved.

I have this really important project I'm trying to get done. It involves using a colour picker to create a Gradient Overlay masked over an image. I'd found THIS and I thought I could use it, but unfortunately I learned that it was far too code based for me to understand.

I'm looking for somebody to help me get this code how I need it. PM me if you're interested and I'll send you the ZIP with the FLA, and we can discuss on MSN. I need two major things; to make it display the resulting gradient in a MovieClip capable of Overlay, and the other is to move the colour picker somewhere else.

There are a few other things to do with this project, and if you help me get this project finished, then I'm sure some degree of payment is in order.

I figured it was far more coding based, because I need help with the uber-heavy Actionscript portion.

I think you would get more comments if you showed more example of your actual art - as opposed to plans that show how the game works.

Well that's because I'm not here to showcase. I'm here to find someone to work with for the game.
It's kinda' hard to work on a game if you don't know anything about it, 'ain't it?

Response to: Searching for Programmer. Posted January 5th, 2009 in Game Development

As well, during gameplay there is a connection with the music. When the track is playing there is a certain background and visual set, but as soon as the track changes then another set of colours and backgrounds replaces it.
This can keep the interest there even while backtracking 'scapes.

The overall goal of each set is to find the next "World Scape", this completes the level and starts the player off on the next one, with a whole new set of 'scapes to find and set up.

Opinions, comments, or better, Programmers?

Response to: Searching for Programmer. Posted January 5th, 2009 in Game Development

Because the gameplay takes place throughout a series of these 'scapes, some may not be immediatly accessible. Sometimes there will be an uncrossable gap or locked gate that you can't get past yet, you got must try to find the key to getting across on one of the other 'scapes.
Now, some 'scapes may be divided in half, so that one half is containing a locked 'scape, and the other half has two other Jump pads on it. So what do you do?
When a 'Scape pearl is collected, you're given the option on where to place it in relation to the other Circle Scapes, creating something of a molecular structure, letting the player decide, to a point, on how the levels are set up as well as giving the game a more puzzle element.

Each little 'planet' is called a "Circle Scape", or just 'scape. There are also these Jump Pads on the 'scape that let the player make an incredible leap to an adjacent 'scape, but first they must find and set up the next 'scape by finding a 'Scape pearl. Essentially they're shrunken levels.

You play as this robotic character along circular levels. The gravity is always towards the center, but the camera does invert itself when the player reaches the bottom of the level.

I'm formally giving a shout for any programmers out on the forums who think they can keep up with the idea and willing to work together with me.
The idea is nearly fully developed already and the main character sprites are nearly finished and ready to be animated.

The game: TripScape.

How to distort vocal recordings? Posted September 14th, 2008 in Audio

I'm in the process of making a game and I need to be able to distort little voice clips to make them sound reminiscent of those SNES or Genesis character voices.
Any help would be appreciated.

Well, according to this guy we're all a bunch of expariments. He learned that because the clouds did'nt look quite right one morning.

You can trust him, after all, because he's a 15 year old ex-muslim!
Maybe he'd let you join him.

Response to: I have found the truth. Posted July 23rd, 2008 in General

Uhh.... Gaaaaaw!! You ruined the ending for me!
On a more 'on topic' note; The clouds looked just fine to me. They did all of the usual things clouds do, such as chainge shape and consistancy while they moved. Oh, and age is a number, but also can represent life experiance which you seem to lack some. I mean, I was listening to a hypnosis/trance thing on my Ipod. Usually it just helped me to get all relaxed and heavy, but that time I actually 'tried' to fold a sort of nothingness around me. I was only able to hold it a few seconds, but the feeling was indescribable.
My point is this: don't go holding some belief like this when you're only fifteen. It'll never end well. People will start avoiding you, you'll never hold a steady job and you'll wind up somewhere you don't want to be. Clear your head, start tomorow with nothing. Drink your coffee, smoke your cig (you 'tard), and look up into the clouds again without a thought in your head. Maybe then you'll see something you missed the first time. Something that lead you down this runnaway train of thought in the first place. Once you're finished looking at the clouds, go back inside. Stare at the floor for a while, picking out patterns in the dirt or scuffs.
Weave some other ideas from those patterns. After some more thought you should realize that beliefs, of nearly any kind, never work out too well. Ideas are better. You can change them to fit your needs.
Example; Once I was talking with a friend and I came to wonder where all the sneases that don't make it go to. I came up with this snease-dimension where the sneases that aren't expelled wind up. They build and build there until some race develops some method that breaks into the dimension, and by that point the universe will have shrunk down exponentially, so when all the trilleons on years of built up snease is released it will blow the universe assunder once again, sowing the seeds for the next generation of life to begin once again, repeating the cycle.

These are the things any compatant Shrink would tell you, not just tell you your crazy and to pop some pills.

Trust me, I've looked. I can't find any shadey copies of CS. I would use CS3 (through various means) but I'm getting the impression it's not working because of the same memory issue. Something along the lines of not being able to use it at this time and suggests reinstalling it (which doesn't help, just makes you feel like you tried.

I've found a few things online that MAY help. I'll try them out, but Im still open to suggestions.

Need help to get my Photoshop back Posted May 14th, 2008 in General

Hey. So I reformated my computer a while ago after backing up all the files on a seperate drive. Iv'e gotten 95% of what I had working again but still Photoshop CS refuses to run. Every time I try to start it it goes half way and states that there is insuficient memory for the activation process and that I need to close some programs (even when it's the only thing running) or alocate memory to its activation process. Now, this would be just sunshine and rainbows if it only told me how to do this.
Can someone help me out? I've gotten back into the swing of drawing and finally got some sequential stuff I want to colour.

(I even tried DLing the demo of CS3, but that doesn't seem to want to work either, for different reasons I assume)

You. For suggesting that people like Legendary Frog were actually admirable contributors to Newgrounds.

I can tell from your profile that you are an avid visitor to 4chan. That alone makes everything you say pretty much irelivant. I like love both sites, but I dread the day when they get too close to eachother, let alone mix.
