Response to: To the creationists... Posted December 28th, 2004 in Politics

My mind is unchanged. You all all products of your parents taking you to church every Sunday morning - and pushing you to believe in God. Since you found no reason to believe otherwise, you are fixiated in believing in him. You are no different than Pavlov's dogs who salivate when they hear a bell. When you hear about something unexplainable; for example.. a miracle.. you almost autonomiously say God did it. Great job being classically conditioned - ignorant retards.

Does God change his mind?
Mal. 3:6. For I am the Lord; I change not. Num. 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent. (Ezek. 24:14; James 1:17)
Ex. 32:14. And the Lord repented of the evil which he had thought to do unto his people. (Gen. 6:6; Jonah 3:10; Sam. 2:30-31; II Kings 20:1-6; Num. 16:20-35)

Should we kill?
Ex. 20:13 Thou shalt not commit murder.
Ex. 32:27 Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, put every man his sword by his side...and slay every man his brother...companion..neighbor.(See also 1 Sam. 6:19; 15:2,3; Num. 15:36)

Please do not quote the bible on how God isn't good. It's not a fallious argument at ALL. Didn't God make humans in an image of himself?

Yes thel, the bible is great. Espically when it's bullshit. "MAT 4:8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them." Oh.. how interesting.. it's funny how the devil.. with the spherical shape of the earth could see all of the land from a high mountain?

Look - zealot. Don't be mad because religion is wrong and God is a unnesscary hypothesis! Theists keep changing the theory of God as science proves their old models wrong. Yes, sure it's possible that God exists in all dimensions.. and I guess that would be possible because it would make Heisenberg's uncertainy principal possible for HIM to know where the position of electrons are.. but seriously.. it's such a quantum leap. No pun intended. :)

This is pretty funny proof that God exists. It pokes fun at the various different arguments that religious people make about why God exists. More humor than truth. Here's a sample!

304) ARGUMENT FROM SCIENCE (I)
(1) Science is not always true.
(2) Therefore there is room for religious faith.
(3) Therefore, God exists.

Response to: To the creationists... Posted December 26th, 2004 in Politics

Tal-con, congrats, you have just pulled what religion has been doing for thousands of years as more and more scientists prove them wrong; change the argument!

This has nothing to do with religious ceremonies, I still celebrate Christmas, but do not consider myself of the Catholic faith, or any faith for that matter. I celebrate Christmas because it’s a festive time, for friends and family to get together and catch up. I wouldn’t call my experience with Christmas religious at all, I would call it part of human nature. We strive to feel important, and by giving and recieving you are assured that people love you. Yes it's cocky, but sorry that's how it usually goes. Now i'm not sayng all people are like that, as you know social sciences are NOT EXACT.

David Hume stated, “If the evil in the world is intended by God he is not good. If it violates his intentions he is not almighty. God can't be both almighty and good.” In this festive time, such as Christmas, I hate how people, like Tal-cun, can possibly "get into religion" under this logical fact?

But fine, some people do get into religion so they can have a nice Jewish marriage - because they feel those are the best time. (I'm my opinion they are)

But hey, "No one can prove an unrestricted negative" is the reply usually given to those who claim that science can prove that God does not exist. An unrestricted negative is a claim to the effect that something doesn't exist anywhere. Since no one can exhaustively examine every place in the universe, the reply goes, no one can conclusively establish the non-existence of anything. So lets just stop this pointless argument about God-- because I will never have enough proof.

I can't wait until 2005.

Please, shut your mouth; you speak nonsense. I don't need to respect anybodys faith, I just need to understand it. Your blind faith pisses me off to a degree that i've never been pissed off to before. Religion is just like old wives tales practiced on a huge scale.

Religion has killed, slaughtered, maimed, caused wars, impeded scientific growth, denounced women, and has given people power that should have NEVER had power. Don't tell me i'm a scornful human being just because I don't respect your faith. Your faith has brought death to more people than you can ever imagine.

Response to: To the creationists... Posted December 25th, 2004 in Politics

Too add...

Many scientists also lie about believing in God so that the Right wing approves of their "bible bashing" experiments. Einstein did not believe in God - he just believed that since energy can't be created or destroyed, and humans are basically messes of energy organized into conscienceness, there is an afterlife. Galileo might have believe in God - but i'm sure he didn't like religion after they put him under house arrest. (For proving the church wrong)

And most scientists don't believe in God anyway. These are the figures for 3 different years.

BELIEF IN PERSONAL GOD 1914 1933 1998 (respectfully)

- Personal belief 27.7 % 15 % 7.0%
- Personal disbelief 52.7 % 68 % 72.2%
- Doubt or agnosticism 20.9% 17% % 20.8%

Fuck religion, fuck higher-powers, hail Occam. Occam was some English Philosopher back in the 1600's, who stated, "plurality should not be posited without necessity." If you think about it, this quote applies to GOD, and how it's an unnecessary hypothesis. Sure, it's just a quote by another guy, so who gives a shit? Think about this, I could tell you that .001 seconds before you die, you see a bunch of giraffes butt-fucking each other on the set of Gilligan's Island. YES THIS IS ABSURD, BUT YOU HAVE NO WAY OF PROVING ME WRONG! Religion is a bunch of BULLSHIT made up by people to explain the oh-so-scary world they lived in. The fucking muslims in Islam even documented how they made up some bullshit about how if the soldiers fought with all their hearts in battle, they would go to a paradise; but if they killed themselves they would go to hell or something much like it (how ironic). God's existance is the biggest load of contradictions I've ever seen. Why? Because for God to exist - he has to be omnipotent, and to be omnipotent is impossible. Why? Because some things are inherently impossible. God himself - assuming he exists now - couldn't add 1+1 and get 32. Or wait, can God create objects that even he himself can't lift? (I guess this is pushing it, but it's fun to think about).

Higher powers? I don't think so. Phenonomons of science we have yet to discover? Yes. It wasen't long ago everybody on earth believed the Earth was created in seven days, the sun revolved around us, and the funniest of all - when objects are thrown into the air they simply get tired and fall back down. Oh wait Galiello is proving us wrong, fuck, we better house arrest his ass.

Can't comprehend whatever? You just can't comprehend how advanced science is these days. Mathmaticans are working in 21 dimensions solving problems, physics has recently discovered the 10th dimension, where gravity is the dominating force in this parallel universe.

Miracles? Fuck miracles. The miracles you have today, fake organs, fake blood, fake legs, arms, hands, ears, eyes, are all thanks to the fucking scientists who religion told to shut the fuck up or we will nail you to the cross. Scientists who not only had to be genius, but brave. Scientists today - such as the 60 Nobel peace prize winners and staff who protested on Washington on Bush's elite "lets impede scientific growth in the US" legislature, are only brave because they have freedom of speech. You know what's a fucking miracle? Think about this. Blow up an atom to the size of.. a football stadium. The nucleus would be about the size of a grape in the middle, and the electrons would be dust. (I forgot the exact math but whatever, the real comparsions are similar). Now the rest of that shit? FREE SPACE. All that free space, and you still can't stick your hand through a wall? Now that's a miracle.

What isn't a miracle is the millions of people who suffer from diabeties, MS, alzheimers, and the list goes on and on and on and on and fucking on. These disease don't care if you are a devout catholic, or never did anything wrong in your life - they are diseases. Religion has slowed down science AT LEAST 4 years lately with stem cell research bans. Four years of research with stem cells could have gotten us a lot closer to curing some of these diseases. Thanks religion!

It went from believe everything the bible said (now called fundamentalists, aka retards), to oh it's only a guideline. Make up your fucking mind. One thing I enjoy about science is inconsistancy with purpose. Someone makes a theory, somebody dosen't just go, "You're wrong." They go, "You're wrong, here's why."

I can't grasp the concept of what's beyond the universe, but saying there is a higher power really is a quantum leap. Who created the higher power?

I loved him as a governor; he made stem cell research possible and had awesome plans to sort out all of NJ's problems. I live in Parsippany which is a town located where 287 and rt 80 intersect, and we really needed some help with all the traffic in the area, and it's recently been cleared up because of all these new traffic routes and how they are fixing the highways and ramps, it's great.

Anyway some people are saying he resigned to avoid an upcoming sexual harassment case? That's all I heard about it.

Response to: Racism Posted August 4th, 2004 in General

Yeah ok, bull. Racism is perception, if you said the guy in the orange shirt and blue jeans just because you thought someone else would find it racist if you said 'the black guy', then it's not racism. The whole idea of racism, as you said, is to single out people because of their race. If the person who said 'the guy with the orange shirt..' completely ignored the fact he was black, looked past that and all he saw was his clothing, then that is NOT racism.

Yea i'd hardly take a person who can't spell making or fahrenheit correctly. The movie was actually two hours long, and it didn't just make fun of Bush, it just showed the truth, you barely heard Micheal Moore's opinion, and all his statements were backed up with paper trails and interviews. The most shocking thing was when he just sat there listening to second graders read to him even after he heard the news of the planes crashing into the world trade center. It's a pretty good movie, it will make you think. I suggest seeing it.

Response to: meat and plant eating animals Posted June 25th, 2004 in General

It really isn't due to the whole protein in the meat building brain cells and neurological connections, it's really becuase plants really just sit there. It's mundane going from plant to plant eating them as they grow, it does not take wit to eat a plant. But it does take smarts to trap an animal, then pick out what to eat. You also have to communicate with the other animals in your pack, heard, whatever to get the animal and stay alive. The better animals got at catching them, the bigger their brains got, so as a result, they got smarter.

Response to: gun control is stupid Posted June 21st, 2004 in Politics

Guns really arn't the problem. It's really the people who are in control of them. In Canada they have more gun ownership per capita than us, but they don't even have close to as many gun deaths per year as us. In Japan, the UK, Russia, and Germany, they have the exact same thing going. Not even all those countries gun deaths per year add up to the amount of gun deaths that happen in the US per year. If you've ever seen "Bowling for Columbine", the director pretty much states that the reason that the gun death rate in America is so high is because we are scared. The media inflates everything, and makes every place seem like "if you go there, plan to die," when it's not even close to that. People think places like Newark are dangerous to even walk around, when I go there all the time, I also go to Paterson all the time, and walk around at night, I don't plan to die, and it's not that dangerous. You take out the fear, you take out the need to use the guns. In the movie, the director also talks about how nobody in Canada even locks their doors anymore, because they arn't afraid of their neighboors. The news in Canada usually isn't based around the crimes happening, but it's actually rather normal news.

Gun control will never happen in the US, we just simply need to change the media and wait for the next generation to not be scared, buy a gun if they want to, but feel no urgent need to use it unless complete emergency. Right now it's hectic. Everyone's heard about dad's so scared about people sneaking in their house and shooting their own daughter, son, mother, wife, whatever. It's happened enough, and the whole driving force is obviously FEAR. Eliminate it, we are on our way to a more crime free society.

Another reason gun control will never happen is the sheer power of the NRA. The NRA obviously will never let a bill like that pass in congress, they have too much money, and way too much power.

Go rent "Bowling for Columbine," and see for yourself. You will be convinced.

Response to: Attention Gamers! Pico 2! Posted October 18th, 2001 in NG News

At 10/18/01 03:54 PM, TomFulp wrote: The original version of Pico 2 (which most of you have never seen) has pretty much been scrapped... the version you may have seen on the site was from April Fools and it is a joke (some people still haven't realized that). I may at some point release the scrapped version for fun, but for now I want to focus on plans for the NEW version of PICO 2.

I am having a hard time deciding on the control scheme.

In the scrapped version of Pico 2, the controls worked like this - you ran around using the A, S, D and W keys (in the same way as using the arrow keys, but with your left hand on the left side of the keyboard). The mouse was used to point... So wherever your mouse was, that is where Pico was looking. You could click on stuff to interact with it, or draw your weapon and click on stuff to shoot it.

The awkward part was that since Pico would look in the direction of the mouse, he was always facing difference ways than he was running. It just looked goofy.

So I have been thinking that I want to make it ALL keyboard, and not use the mouse. So the controls will be more like a traditional video game. But what game will they be like?

I was originally thinking you could face 8 different directions, and shoot in eight different directions. Then I was wondering if maybe you could just face either right or left - ala Disorderly. Both formats have their ups and downs.

I'm thinking of a system where you can face in 8 directions, and when you start shooting, you stay locked in that direction. So if you are running diagonally up and to the right and start firing your weapon, as long as you hold down the action key (probably the 'a' key), Pico will stay in that direction... So you can run up, down, left and right and Pico will keep shooting to the upper right of the screen. I remember some old games that did it this way... Last Alert for the Turbo Grafx CD... Maybe Rambo for the Genesis - my memory is foggy.

Something about this whole thing makes me feel uneasy, though... A part of me is thinking that maybe you should just face the right or left, no matter if you are running up or down at the time (ala Disorderly). Then, if you are firing your gun, you would lock to either the right or the left... So you could fire to the right while running backwards. The downside is that you can't shoot enemies above or diagonal from you - you always have to be horizontally across from them. But there is still something about this that I am ok with.

I think the playing field isn't big enough for Smash TV-style multi-directional firing. If it was a straight top-view perspective, that might work - but Pico plays from more of a Disorderly (Final Fight / Double Dragon) perspective... I haven't seen games like that pull off multidirectional firing, although I have seen plenty that use guns and work from the left/right perspective.

Does anyone remember the Aliens vs. Predator arcade game? Did that have multidirectional firing from the shoulder cannon? I gotta find a ROM of that one...

Anyway... I am rambling...

KEY QUESTION:
1) How should the control scheme for Pico 2 work? How do you want to control the character and what abilities should he have?

*NOTE: There are TONS of abilities for Pico that I haven't mentioned in this post, so don't get crazy if you think your idea is 'stolen'. :)

Finally, ever since i saw the first Pico a few years ago, I have been awaiting a second. I got excited when I saw pictures from the upcoming one, but it never came. This game is close to becoming reality, finally. Anyway Pico should be able to jump, and snap necks? Who knows, Tom was the creative engineer behind the first one, and It was great, so i'll leave it up to him. Later

Yea tom you should start on sub-categorizing the features section. Ideas for series on the portal having there own section is a great idea, but eventually that small sidebar on the features page will build up and get too big to find what you want. Making it into sections so you could easly find stuff would be a lot easier. Later
