Pick a logical fallacy and then quote an example of that fallacy which you have found on the forum.

If you're able, explain why it is a fallacious argument and how the argument could be changed for more effective argumentation.

Think before you post

Nothing in that police report provides any evidence which goes against the "Mike Paid" narrative. All it says is the officer in charge of collecting the surveillance footage after shooting Mike was unable to figure out how to take a video from a CD and convert it to a usable image format. It also says that witnesses inside the store told the responding officer that Mike had left with cigars. Nothing in the information given has enough detail to discern between the two competing narratives.

Why would Dorian put four boxes of swishers back on the counter after Michael took the others if they hadn't given the shopkeeper enough money for any swishers? Why would Michael put extra boxes back if he was just some "thug"?

That's not a valid point here because you're going against the word of the person who filed the police report, not the actual officers. There's nothing to suggest that the report was fibbed, either internally or by the clerk.

The report is nothing but meaningless words written by the people who know Officer Wilson. It presents a completely different narrative to the events inside the store than those which are presented in the (very poorly transferred) security footage.

The security footage, which wasn't made public until nearly 2 weeks after Michael's death, was transferred by holding a cell phone camera up to a monitor. It wasn't transferred as data. It wasn't released in full. It wasn't released with the audio intact.

Why is that, Feoric? Are police just too stupid to transfer a section of video from a hard drive on a security camera to their own computers? Are they incapable of doing that in a way which looks forthcoming? I doubt it.

A 5'5" aging Pakistani man would walk out to physically confront a thief instead of calling the police straight off?
Yeah, I guess so! And good for him, too! And then he immediately retreated and filed a complaint with the PD after Brown used his size to intimidate him.

Also doubt it. More likely that this man is afraid to talk about what actually happened. Between all of his black neighbors and customers and the entire weight of the Ferguson PD, he would rather not speak out.

Did this 5'5" middle aged shopkeeper suddenly become a superhero and feel that it was worth getting into a physical altercation with a "thugger"?
Obviously not since he seemed pretty scared shit and backed off after he was strongarmed.

He seemed angry more than anything.

That isn't the behavior of a man who feels threatened by a "thugging" thief. That's the behavior of a man who felt insulted by a customer's behavior and wanted to let him know.
He wasn't threatened at first but he was clearly threatened enough to call the police afterwards. What you think happened just simply did not happen.

I'll wait for an actual video including the raw audio to change any positions. I will not just assume some clerk in the FPD has seen higher quality footage which corroborates a police-coerced story from the shopkeeper.

Unless you think the clerk is lying, which I don't buy (pun not intended). On top of that. the way the clerk reacted to Brown leaving the store and the way Brown handled the situation is not consistent with what you're saying.

You can see everything in the video. A full box of cigarillos is the excuse given because he took the not-for-sale packaging, but the actual products taken (inside the larger package) were equal in area in the video to that of the products he handed to his friend.

Go to your local convenience store and ask to see a box of small cigars tomorrow, you'll get a good idea of how they'll look in security footage.

Thug. What a word to use to dehumanize a black man. Ask some schoolchildren if they're allowed to refer to anyone with the word "thug" in a few decades. You are a racist.

The clerk tried to stop him from leaving the store, then he called the police because he was pissed off. None of that makes Michael a person worth shooting, chasing down, killing, and leaving dead in a street for four hours. That is the sort if treatment awarded to dead rodents.

America should be better than this. Even toward its supposed "thugs".

Wow. Bias?

You obviously didn't watch the video thoroughly. Michael Brown bought and paid for two packages of cigarillos. He was given the wrong type, after trying to explain this to the clerk, he grabbed the two remaining in a different box, had his friend put back the ones they didn't want, and then left.

In my research, I have found that there are many facts to support the claims of the nearly 2 dozen people who are standing firmly on the side of the accusers:

The fact that these women are saying outright that they don't want Mr. Cosby to pay them money, they just want people to know about that predatory part of his personality. The fact that 14 women would be guilty of perjury if they has lied under oath. The fact that these women are asking for nothing more than an apology. The fact that the prosecutor in the original case has publicly stated that he wanted to indict Mr. Crosby based on the evidence he had seen. The fact that Mr. Cosby has a history of entertaining his audience with jokes about spiking women's drinks.

Make me believe it's a conspiracy and you will have earned yourself a prize.

The character on Dr. Matt Taylor's shirt doesn't look like any female celebrity or comic book characters I would recognize.

Does the identity of the person on the shirt matter? Or just the sex?

- Why did nobody suggest it wasn't a good idea that he wear a shirt like that while working in an official capacity for such an important mission/organization?

You assume that the ESA in particular is male-dominated without mentioning research. However, reaction shots from within the control room showed a pretty even split between both genders. And the two popular news stories focusing on ESA employees since the Philae touchdown have been this scandal and the reaction of professor Monica Grady, a female ESA scientist, to the successful deployment of the lander.

The media hasn't shown a male tilt within the organization.

NG isn't celebrating anybodys culture. NG only exists because of its userbase. If- most of its user base are Anglo's thats not excluding anyone. Thats just what the user base predominately is.

Actually, in addition to a large population of users from outside the Anglosphere, the majority of NGers speak other languages than English. They just aren't allowed to speak those languages on Newgrounds because it is considered a bannable offense.

If they were allowed to speak freely, the website would be more inviting to two additional groups of people:
1. Non-English speakers (the majority of the population internationally)
2. English speakers who are open to discussions in other languages or centered on other cultures

The current system excludes both of those groups and forces them to submit to white McCulture or "get out".

If I went to a predominately hispanic site and demanded they celebrate my american-ness and other people start typing in english and change their site to reflect my desires is a little bit beyond nuts.

What if I told you that the website is American, not English? What if I told you that America does not have an official language and that its founding fathers intended for the nation to be a home to many cultures, many languages and the polyglots who welcome them?

What is with this entitlement that demands everybody cater to them all the time?

What is with your hatred for allowing people to be free to enjoy many cultures? Why do you reject anything that isn't White Bread American?

Are you seriously going to blame the userbase for being the userbase? Dude......

Are you seriously that thick? The moderators are enforcing rules which are culturally exclusionary and rationalizing it by saying that everyone should learn to act and think like an American or find another website.

The jobs which mods should be doing are things like looking out for spam, deleting egregious photos, or dealing with users who have been harassing others. None of that requires a fluency in even a more than one language.

The rules we have in play against allowing members to speak in any language other than English are not useful. They help people to learn or practice English, which is great, but there is really no good reason why we shouldn't allow other languages.

Men suffer from gender constraints too, as men who are seen as being sensitive are put down by their peers, both men and women, for being a "pussy" or whatever.

A major issue Men's Rights Advocates and Antifeminists have with Feminism isn't that they enable males to be emotional pussies and vulnerable whatevers. It's more that people self identifying as Feminists demonize men for being strong, masculine, or fulfilling traditional gender roles as though the drive for those things are all societal influences. As if there were no internal motivators for men wanting to feel powerful, or as if being boyish or manly were a flawed personality trait in boys and men.

Oh please. He's intentionally disregarding the new regulations which prohibit him from making a theatrical performance out of distributing free meals to homeless people in public spaces. He is doing this because he wants the media to pay attention to him so he can make a statement.

The city of Ft Lauderdale, Florida has a real problem with homeless people dropping out of the economies of other states and taking up residency on the streets. They bring crime, reduce the value of real estate, and cause problems just because they don't want to use the free housing and meals provided by the state.

People who feed the homeless in this way are doing nothing more than encouraging the folks to do their best to look downtrodden and congregate in high visibility sections of the city. They could do more to help eliminate the homeless problem by setting up security cameras and solving crime within shelters that drives people away from using them.
