Response to: STICKMEN- dont hate Posted February 7th, 2003 in General

Ahh, Stick Flicks...

Stick Flicks are among the things that I dislike the most, for a few reasons;

1. They aren't about the art, which is true, and thus get used improperly, even for a joke or whatever, all the damn time.
2. You see them everywhere now. I used to love the little guys, but they've lost their appeal to me.
3. Since the increase in popularity of stick figures in the realm of Flash media, people have developed a need to just churn out tons and tons of total crap.

Yes, I realize there is always exceptions to the rule, but there are just too many crappy stick flicks out there.

K there's this guy, Pasquale, and he's convinced that he's in love with me. He tells me everyday that he wants me but I just don't feel the same way about him. On top of that, we walk home together and I swear to god I have bruises on my tits and ass from this guy.

He's also a very jealous person... he says if I ever go out with another person he will kill himself. Did I meantion he's suicidal? He's attempted it before and I really fear for his life. Everytime I tell him no, dude I don't want you like you want me why can't you understand that? but as always he just ignores me.

Well, I had an ex-girlfriend like that once.

First, maybe you should try to hook him up with somebody else. Try to find his likes/dislikes, and get them to hang out together.

Maybe you'll get lucky.

If not, however, I recommend you sit down and talk to him with his family present. They can provide you with support, and they'll certainly keep an eye on this guy if he has attempted suicide before. Who knows? Maybe he's really developed an unhealty mental condition involving you, and he needs professional help. Sit him down, and explain to him and his parents (or whoever his family is)what the problem is (abuse of you, threatening to kill himself, unhealthy obsession) and hopefully you can work something out. Maybe he'll have to go away. Maybe he'll just get therapy. But you need to eventually take charge of your own life, and see other people, regardless of his threatened suicides.

I know it's calloused, but this can't go on forever.

I think it's admirable that you'd like to help people. I could tell that your offer was genuine and I respect that, but this IS the Newgrounds BBS and therefore nothing is sacred...so probably no one will feel comfortable bringing up personal issues on this thread. It's too bad, really. There are probably plenty of people who could use a sympathetic ear.

True, true.

I understand that so many people feel uncomfortable in posting their problems, so if they don't want to here, then they can e-mail me. I really hope that someday maybe I can be a mod or something so that I can delete posts that bring these people down.

Oh, well.

It needs to start somewhere. Ridicule they might, but I've already helped a few people who were too shy to post, and that lets me know that there's a demand for it. I may only be twenty years old, but I have the information of the internet at my fingertips, and if anything, I can help people find information about themselves that they are too lazy or otherwise unable to find.

When it comes down to it, it's just something I wanna do.

Thanks for the compliment.

Good job. Keep up the good work, if these people truly deserved their deaths. As far as disposal of bodies, I recommend putting them in a woodchipper, and then burying them in your backyard. Then plant a garden or something. The nitrogen and other vital nutrients in the decaying corpses will help fertilize them. If you're having second thoughts about this, though, you should probably turn yourself in. Sheesh. There are plenty of stupid topics on the BBS, but I hadn't realized that everyone's post topics need to meet with your specific "stupidity" requirements to not face death.

What a jackass.

I just thought plenty of people would appreciate the anonymity of the internet to air their dirty laundry, and to possibly seek some information about their options.

Yes, I realize that it would only be ripe for other assholes (like you) to come in and bash them, but they wouldn't have to post if they didn't wanna. they could e-mail me, or talk to me on AIM.

I realize you probably have an insane demand for cards, so if you want to make one for me, that's cool, if not, no biggie. I really like the concept, though, and I look forward to possible seeing what exactly would be put on my card.

I have a picture in my profile, and if you read a few of my rants on the BBS or some of my more negative reviews, you'll see what I'm all about.

30 rabid spider monkeys playing in a room full of typewriters would produce a better written script. Besides, "Ohh Ohh Ahh Ahh- The Banana Story" sounds much better, doesn't it?

The ONLY saving grace for #1 is Sean William Scott, and, like their chances of redemption, he dies.

Oh holy lord. I used to work in a video store, and when I told people how stupid it was, they were like "Why? I thought it was really good."

Then they rented "Glitter".

So true, so true...

Kelly is probably going to get away for fucking a thirteen year-old. Because he's a celebrity. It's a sad, sad world. Maybe he should become a Catholic priest, too. Then nobody would ever be able to even THINK about touching him.

In jail, felons HATE statutory rapists. (You KNOW it doesn't matter if the sex was consensual or not)

Kelly would have a good chance of
A. Being raped himself
of B. Being at the recieving end of a cell-made shiv.

Damn you, celebrities.

Response to: Do you trust the government? Posted February 6th, 2003 in Politics

Before you can answer this question, you must consider something...

What is the purpose of government? Well, it primarily exists to protect the weak. Now, all sorts of laws are in place, and the government does take steps to fuck you over, but our government is a helluva lot more trustworthy then a lot of other ones.

The government doesn't need to do much more for us. If 51% of the people go home happy and 49% go home sad, then the government has done thier job. The impracticality of the human culture stops the government from ever ruling effectively enough to please everybody. Let's face it- Short of becoming a fascist state, we'll never be ruled efficiently. We're all too whiny.

I'm not an advocate of fascism, but you have to admit-
Hitler took a devastated country, with no money, resources, or morale, and simply by taking away free will, and making the state superior to the individual, turned it into a world-threatening power.

So, if I can go out, work where I want, and get the money I need to survive, and for the occaisional beer run, I'm perfectly happy.

Yay Capitalism!

Response to: Christianity Posted February 6th, 2003 in Politics

If anyone cares about my further thoughts on Christianity, read my post in the "God vs. Athiest" thread.

Response to: Wicca Posted February 6th, 2003 in Politics

For those who care:

Wicca is an earth-based religion that is centered around the respect of all things living.

Goddess is Great Mother Goddess. That is her name to me; usually I just call her Goddess. To others she might be Aphrodite or Kuan-Yin. She is in everything, in every person or plant or rock. You can speak to her and pray to her.

She takes many forms. She is the moon, and is often thought of as the Triple Goddess as manifested in the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone. Her symbol is a full moon flanked by crescent moons. According to Wicca, there is both a Goddess and a God. (However, I only believe in a Goddess.)
The God is the Sun. He is the hunter and Green Man; the father.

Goddess and God-

Traditionally, the Goddess and God are lovers. They are equals. Almost anything can be categorized as either in the Kingdom of the Sun or the Kingdom of the Moon. They are in everything, according to tradition. Devil Wiccans in no way worship the devil. In fact, Wicca as a religion does not even believe in a devil. Although pictures of God or Goddess may have horns, this was normal in ancient times and was not a sign of evil. It was common practice for conquering religions (in this case Christianity) to demonize the gods they replaced.

Pentacle/Pentagram-

The point-up pentacle () is not the sign of the devil. The five-pointed star is called a pentagram, when inside a circle it is called a pentacle. The circular board that has symbols (such as pentagrams and triangles) carved into it is also called a pentacle. It is used by Wiccans as one of their magical tools. Hope that clears up all the confusion!

Laws/Rules-

There are not many rules in Wicca, but one that most Wiccans follow is the Wiccan Rede (also known as the Wiccan Law, Wiccan Rule, etc.): An it harm none do what thou wilt -- meaning, do what you want, but don't harm anyone. Another law some Wiccans folow is the Threefold Law or Law of Three. It is that what you do, good or bad, will come back to you three times as strong. Others believe in Karma, which is similar to the Threefold Law, except that what you give comes back equally as strong. Personally, I think this makes sense; what you give is what you get.

However, each person must decide for her or himself. Threefold Law, Karma, neither, or something different altogether?

These are the true Wiccan beliefs. Now, if you want to accuse them of worshipping Satan, many of them claim to be Wiccans, but are, as Alakazam so eloquently put it- "Pissed off goth kids who want to piss off their parents," or something to that effect.

Real Wiccans are ok people. Pseudo-Wiccans are stupid. People who chastise other people for their religion are stupid too.

Word.

Response to: Legalizing Pot? Posted February 6th, 2003 in Politics

The effects of Marijuana use, courtesy of the NIDA (National Institute for Drug Abuse):

Short Term-
problems with memory and learning;
distorted perception (sights, sounds, time, touch);
trouble with thinking and problem-solving;
loss of coordination; and
increased heart rate.

(Basically, this is the "high" most users seek, because let's face it, if you can't think straight, you can't think about too much bad shit happening, right?)

Long Term Usage:
Cancer-
Regular marijuana use causes cancer. It is known that marijuana contains some of the same, and sometimes even more, of the cancer-causing chemicals found in tobacco smoke. Studies show that someone who smokes five joints per day may be taking in as many cancer-causing chemicals as someone who smokes a full pack of cigarettes every day.

Lungs and airways-
People who smoke marijuana often develop the same kinds of breathing problems that cigarette smokers have: coughing and wheezing. They tend to have more chest colds than nonusers. They are also at greater risk of getting lung infections like pneumonia.

Immune system-
THC increases the risk of developing infections by inhibiting normal disease-preventing reactions.

Now, that being said, I am actually for the legalization of marijuana on many levels. I myself do not smoke weed, but I believe it should be legalized for other reasons.

People are going to smoke it anyway. As far as drug users are concerned, marijuana users are relatively harmless, and the addiction one suffers from marijuana use is almost exclusively psychological.

Legalizing it would reduce the strain put on prisons, and bureaucratic police forces everywhere.

The government could actually put a tax on the stuff, and make more money.

Yes, marijuana is what people consider a "gateway" drug, but most pot users don't move on to bigger, better drugs. They just buy better weed.

So, I hope this post was informative, and I have shown some people all the facts.

Thank You.

Whether you hate Alakazam or not, he has a point. He easily supports most of his positions (I have yet to see one in which he is not correct, factually) and makes a good point that plenty of people are plenty ignorant on most posts. Alakazam could be nicer about it, but the point he's trying to make is that he could really care less about what you have to think. Yes, you might think he's a stuck-up, pompous asshole, but he thinks you're a stupid, uneducated moron.
