You think it was Joe Stalin that messed it all up? I'm sure he had a big hand in it, but communism just looks good on paper. Like Anarchy. As intriguing as a successful system with no laws would be, it just won't happen. Communism is the same way. There aren't enough inherently good people in our species to further such a cause.
I'm confused... I'm in a BBS where I actually agree with the last person who posted...
Some semblance of intelligence can be found tonight-
Shocking, isn't it?
As for Euthanasia-
I agree with you totally, Spike.
I agree 100%. I couldn't have said it better.
Unless I wanted to be a cocky bastard and say "I could have said it better." But that would just be semantics, wouldn't it?
:-)
Ted-
Once you get to book 7, you'll realize what I mean. I think that that's the worst one as far as pretentious political intrigue and redundancy is concerned.
Really?
How thoughtless. What do you think will happen, Freak?
I'm surprised at the lack of "Abortion is murder" posters in this thread. I'm a supporter of pro-choice, because, hey-
It is the girl's choice (as far as it being her body in the case of unconsentual sex, because the father to be should at least be consulted otherwise), the fetus is part of the mother, and, no matter what your ideals are, no matter how many times you firebomb the place, those will always be the facts.
Word.
Parents have a serious effect on children and thier beliefs. If a child is told from birth by his parents that the white man is better then the black man, he will think that, unless the parent does such things in a constrictive manner (You know, acting in a way that causes you to want to be the complete opposite of them). If Jim-Bob's daddy/uncle tells him that the black man is inferior, and does it in a simple, laid back way without forcing him to believe anything, Jim-Bob will come to that conclusion, regardless of the rest of his environment, in most situations.

Justice Department opens record number of investigations
ASSOCIATED PRESS
WASHINGTON, Feb. 25 — The Justice Department has more than doubled its prosecutions and convictions of sex traffickers after opening a record number of investigations into the crime, Attorney General John Ashcroft said Tuesday. The department prosecuted 76 alleged sex traffickers in the last two years, three times as many as in the previous two years. It also has opened trafficking investigations in 46 states and every U.S. territory.

Uhhhhmmm...
Not to rain on your parade or anything, but nowhere in the post of Freak's does she mention sex offenders other than traffickers. Sex traffickers are nothing but prostitutes, if my memory serves me. I certainly believe in getting such terrible people as Michael Jackson off the streets, but I don't think that that's quite what we have in this situation.
Sooo...
There's no need to stomp on anyone because they never mentioned children in their prostitue-related post.
Just letting you know, and knowing is half the battle.
It's true, and how hard would it be for you to find an intelligent debate then?
Alright!
Yet ANOTHER Bush thread!
Yeah, he's an idiot. So what. You have to be damaged goods if you hope to run a nation of idiots. I live in the US, and if you can string together a coherant thought, you'll see that the US has it's fill.
I'm not going to get on you for your lack of facts (just about everybody else has), but if you have a question of why the US supports Bush, you need to do two things:
First, back up your accusations of Bush's complete and utter stupidity with facts, such as "Because of the way Bush has handled the Social Security tax, a married couple with two children and $80,000 in wages will have a combined employee-employer bill for FICA and Medicare exceeding what they pay in federal income taxes. For all of his talk about putting more money in taxpayers' pockets, making a temporary adjustment to this tax — which would provide some immediate help to workers who are likely to most need and spend the money — has been totally overlooked.", which is true.
Second, you need to realize that many of us view Bush like a parent views a small child of theirs who shows them a picture they had just drawn. Sure, you might think it looks like a big purple, green and chartruese blob, but you need to engouage them along and say "Good job, Georgie", otherwise, you won't get anything positive out of him, right?
Broke up with my g/f of three years to move to San Jose to go to college.
*sigh*
It haunts me to this very fucking day.

Sorry for any confusion this has caused.
*Pulls out shovel and begins digging up old topic*
I think you overrate Jordan's work. It's ok, don't get me wrong, but there are scores of people popping up (and not that you're one of them) but Jordan gets just a LITTLE pretentious, don't you think? Political intrigue is fine, as long as it's not so... I dunno... boring?
Granted, he doesn't do it all the time, and it only wears upon the fringes of your sanity because of the length of it.
As for eclipsing Tolkien, have you noticed any parallels between between the Ring novels and Jordan's Wheel series? The mountains of "Dhoom", the dark ones, The "One" powers, and a host of other little "homages" from literature that isn't his.
So, Jordan's alright, I guess, but not what I'd call the best fantasy writer of all time or anything.

if society considered walking with one foot a sign of sophistication, even though it goes against all natural walking patterns, would you do it?
No. I wouldn't. I'd do what felt right to me. The reason you aren't gay stems from a multitude of things, and biological makeup is only one of them.
Sure, for you it might go against all biological instinct, but gay people aren't all like you. There's plenty of gay people that go after same sex relationships because their hormones are just balanced that way. They literally don't feel attracted to the opposite sex. Thier biological instinct tells them that the opposite sex isn't what you're supposed to do.
Now, what you're saying is that it's completely unnatural, but if some guy is born with more estrogen than testosterone (I'm simplifying it-there are several chemicals in the body that determine behavioral characteristics, but these are the most well-known), without any outside influences during pregnancy or anything, isn't that natural?
"Homosexual activity occurs under some circumstances in probably all known human cultures and all mammalian species for which it has been studies." - Warren J. Gadpaille, M.D. "Normal Human Sexuality and Sexual Disorders," in Comprehensive Textbook of Psychiatry
"Homosexuality and the sexual acts which are demonstratably part of the phylogenetic heritage of any species cannot be classified as acts contrary to nature, biologically unnatural, abnormal, or perverse." - The Kinsey Report, 1949, p. 24.
It's true. It was a bit of a rush. I had never seen it done before. I feel like a pioneer or something. Maybe I'll start a pointless "Boardrunners Club" or something.

It's true, and that was the point. Don't you think the way Dubya is handling a lot of this stems back to such things? It would seem oddly appropriate.
Besides. He already has them following me around. Something about how he doesn't trust me around his daughters anymore after that night we spent in Tijuana getting hammered and... well...
My point is, is Bush is clueless, and I was using a humorous situation to accentuate my point of such. I realize it may be difficult to understand satire over the web.

Armed robbery gives you what? At most, 15 years, right?
Murder gives you at least twenty to life, and that's in my sissy-ass state of California. Try murdering someone in a place half as liberal, like Texas, and say "Hi" to everyone's favorite killing device, the electric chair. Hopefully you'll get to listen to Metallica while you're "Riding the Lightning" so to speak.

That's a well-known Urban Legend, but if you do the research, you'll find he was actually cremated.

Yeah, that's probably true, but that wasn't the question, was it? I know the US has a habit of charging in where they aren't necessarily wanted, and they have a tendency to drag their allies with them.
Who hoo.
*Does the wrestler chant*- U. S. A.! U. S. A.!
Besides- You know everybody loves a needless invasion.

No argument here, Judge. Maybe if he could make cohereant decisions through that haze of coked-up daydreams, we'd all be better off, no?

It's true. I was just going from the Thread Author's line of thinking. I don't really believe bombing Africa will accomplish anything all that beneficial.
It's true. Tom and Wade really don't need this kind of bullshit to deal with when they already have US.

There's only so many topics that people can reply to. Don't post so much at once.
You were on for four hours straight this morning 3 AM - 7 AM posting, and all I see on the BBS for last post is PreacherJ, PreacherJ, PreacherJ.
It's overwhelming.
I got bored, and had some points to make. Besides-
There were only ten other people on the BBS when I did that, and if they didn't post anything, then that's their perogative. So I ran the boards. Does it bother you? I think that if you check, most of them make a valid point, and don't include me saying "Post 200!" or some such pointless crap. I know there's a few short ones in there, but a lot of the short ones still make a valid point.
I'd like to think that I do, but, check it out. Maybe I'm just talking out my ass and didn't realize it. I ran the whole board this morning.
Word.
Well, I just got done running the BBS Political board (For awhile, all of the threads had me as the last poster), and now, I must leave. Good Night, fellow insomniacs, and may your posts forever be witty.
Word.
A bit of advice-
Don't mention that, or people will bash the fuck out of you. They smell weakness.
I think you're right.
Word.
