The term "rich" was a generalization, and I apologize for it, but, I used in to point out Bush's support over the "richer" than, say, me. Besides, your richness isn't really the deal I was worried about, only that the smaller, poorer collleges are suffering from the malaise that is Dubya.

TV nowadays really is full of nothing but total crap. There's an occaisional nugget of quality, but there's a much higher percentage of total stupidity. People obsessed with the lives of others, lying "millionaires", and a host of other bullshit that just causes me to lose all faith in humanity in general.

And that's without mentioning the news.

Buddha is not real.

Americans are getting stupider BTW.

Siddhartha Gautama, known as Buddha, the "Awakened," was the son of the ruler of Sakya-land, a region lying to the northeast of Oude, in northern India. The date of his birth is placed about 557 B.C.

He was born a warrior prince, but at the age of twenty-nine, after having married and had a son, he determined to renounce the world. Abandoning his family and possessions, he gave himself up to asceticism and concentration of thought, under the direction of masters of this discipline. After seven years, he concluded that this method brought him no nearer to the wisdom he sought as a means of escaping rebirth into a life which he had found not worth living, and for a time he tried starvation and self-torture. This also availed him nothing; when suddenly, sitting under the sacred fig-tree at Bodhi Gaya, he became illumined and saw the Great Truths. Henceforth he was "Buddha."

Gautama's first aim had been merely his own salvation; but moved by pity for mankind he resolved to bestow on others the Four Great Truths and the eight-fold path. Beginning his ministry at Benares, he converted first five monks who had previously been his fellows in asceticism, then many of the noble youth of the city, then a thousand Brahman priests.

The rest of his life was spent in wandering about and preaching his new creed, which spread with extraordinary rapidity. He died not far from his native region about the year 477 B.C.

So, maybe he's not real in the deitical sense, but Buddha is very real, indeed.

As for insulting this guy, I don't see how this is any different from insulting celebrities and such through Photoshop. Besides-It's a free internet. People have the right to be stupid if they choose too, even if it makes it less enjoyable for everybody else (not to bash anybody in ths room).

Well actually I was refering too this thred where I talked about some of my problems, which coincidently, became 8 pages. This I doubt will become 8 pages, partly for the reason, he's a guy with a problem. I was a girl with a problem and everyone was quick to come. There's a double standard going on but it's not like I can do anything about it. It's hypocritical I tell you! Hypocritical!

Odd isn't it? How if somebody posts a thread stating their problems, he/she gets 8 pages of responses. If I post a thread where somebody can post their problems, I get flamed, mocked, and made fun of. Anybody ever come to my "Confessional"? Yeah. same story. I try to help those in need, (Like this guy) and I get bashed for creating a stupid thread.

Tired of this crap...why is everybody picking on this? Are there more racists in the world than I thought? I know Kingpin is white in the comics, but can you honestly think of a white actor who is physically imposing enough, and a good enough actor to have fit this role? Thought not, I'm sick of this racist attitude of "the Kingpin is white in the comic, he should be white in the movie" what does skin color matter? We had a black Lex Luthor in the Superman cartoon, and that worked fine for me. If you wanted to say that this is white people subtlely demonizing blacks by turning white villians into black ones, maybe I'd give you some credence. But this whole "comic says he's white, he should be white" thing is just racist bullshit in my eyes.

Why is it racist bullshit? I'm just a stickler for comic accuracy. Jesus, man. But Kingpin's race represented so much more then just a color. The fact that he was Anglo-Saxon and was the single most powerful man in the city says something about the race relations at the time of his inception, does it not? How many African Americans owned huge megacorporations in the Marvel Series incorporating Daredevil (And Elektra, Punisher, Yadda yadda)? I'm not against African Americans in power, I'm just supportive of trying to stick to the damn books these movies are supposed to be based on, is all.

I'm not racist, if that's something you had wondered. Indeed, read some of my posts in the "White America" Thread or "Racism" Thread and you'll see.

As for the black Lex Luthor, that was pretty vague... He looked kinda mulatto, and I don't think that they ever said specifically that he was African-American.

I wouldn't have said "Thought not", either, without at least a dramatic pause. I'm telling you, Michael Clarke Duncan is a good actor. But Kingpin is obnoxiously large. Like he's from... oh, I dunno... a comic book. Michael Rooker could have done a better job. I would have recommended something to show kingpin being much, much bigger than everyone else-CGI's, a fat suit (I know... the fat suit idea is laughable), whatever. I don't care, just as long as he was comic-book sized. That's not Mike Duncan's fault, either. I think Kingpin needed to be bigger than he was, and if you were making someone bigger, why the fuck couldn't you use a white guy who's a good Kingpin-ish villian, even if he's not "physically imposing enough," because I didn't think Duncan was, either. You have to admit, if you put Duncan next to Fisk, the real Kingpin would open up a big fucking can of whoop-ass, even if Duncan was as experienced as the character he portrays.

If you're a fan, you may enjoy it, is it the greatest superhero flick ever? No, there is far too much fit into too small a space for it, but I did enjoy it a hell of a lot better than I enjoyed Spider-Man, which was a terrible script that even a well-made movie, with a great director couldn't cover up. Tobey Maguire is NOT a convincing Spider-Man either, his style is far too stiff for the Wall-Crawler.

Tobey is a much better Peter Parker then Ben is a Matt Murdock. Tobey has facial expressions. Ben just looks like he's pissed off or sneering at you all the time. Yeah, Tobey's a bit stiff... but at least he isn't a statue.

Don't even start lecturing us on shitty scriptwriting for Spider-Man. The hokeyness of Daredevil far surpasses it. The line I quoted in the original post was but a tip of the iceberg.

In conclusion, I think Raimi, coupled with Tobey and Mr. Dafoe, produced a much better product. Feel free to argue about the pretentiousness of Spider-Man vs. Daredevil, but we'll just get into an opinional debate rather than a movie merits debate, don't you think? You seem to have agreed on most of my points.

I have seen the Daredevil, and it is...

A big pile of crap.

Sure. The special effects (when they aren't cheesy and "Matrix-esque") are good, and Colin Farrel, Jon Favereau, Joe Pantoliano, and the guy from "Major League II" that plays Matt Murdock's dad in this flick are all redeeming qualities.

But Ben... That poor, poor, stupid bastard. If Ben Affleck went to acting school during the entire time it would take to properly liposuction J-Lo's ass, he still wouldn't be able to wrench this flick from the cream of his crap. Not since "Reindeer Games" have I seen a worse performance. Let us all hope that "Jersey Girl" will not be the end of us all.

The writing of this movie is about as lame as that one dog that lives in every town that's been hit by a few cars, is mildly reterded, and begs for scraps. Lines like "I waited outside that theatre for my father, and in many ways, I'm still waiting..." were so stupid, they made me choke on my $8.00 "small" popcorn (2.5 gallons).

Kingpin is played by Mike Clarke Duncan. Kingpin is white. Mike Duncan is not. Aside from the SLIGHT difference from the comic, Duncan does ok. If he didn't have a shitty screenwriter, he might have been able to save this one.
