Well there's your problem.

I'm not a big fan of Vista, but I am fascinated with Microsoft's business model, and have been since I read this. I'd be interested to see what kind of user restrictions and improvements Vista actually has.

Did you have IE set as default when you first installed those programs? Because it's possible that they have their own set preferred browsers (like I'm fairly sure mIRC does) that they set depending on the default browser at the time of installation, and then those settings are independent of default settings afterwards. I'm looking at the mIRC catcher options right now, but I can't seem to find anything significant.

If I find a method to fix that, I'll let you know. I don't understand how it's a problem for you, assuming you aren't using Vista or something crazy like that.

Oh, and MSN Messenger will always open links in IE. Microsoft is a cunt that way.

You know you can do that, right? Just set firefox to act as your default browser.

(ie in Firefox, Tools -> Options -> Main, and down at the bottom click the "Check now" button.)

You should also look into Ubuntu, or some other user-friendly distro of linux/GNU. I burned a Ubuntu live CD some time ago, just to play around with it, and found it was a great little tool to introduce you to linux. It's free and easy to use. Now if only I could successfully get debian to work with my vid card and motherboard setup. :/

Also, my winamp randomizer just picked a cover of "Space Oddity" played by Helloween. Awesome.

I dislike stupid people. Often those of an age of 15 or less are stupid people.

This concludes a generic complaint regarding the Politics forum. Thank you.

Better than having one at 9 o'clock at night (happened to me once).

There can only be one lounge.

Seriously, people have tried threads just "For liberals only" or "for conservatives only" and they're horrible disasters for good reason. This lounge fills many niches in the Politics forum, and the only reason it's allowed to exist is because of the nature of this board, and its tendency to produce a specific set of known users who don't want to set foot in the General forum. Lounges can only exist in special circumstances, and in small numbers, ie 1 or less.

I's a bad idea.

Still good, though. Especially after considering the new clock rates. It's a shame most people can't afford a server to play with. :(

But I think it is more because of the implementation of the quad core AMD has made, more than because of the K10 uarch.
We shall see when the dual cores arrive.
They are making tricores as well, have you heard?

How are the benchmarks?

Not great. Doesn't look world shattering for Intel. AMD apparently stepped up frequencies since that article, though.

I am, however, looking forward to AM3. I might just wait a full year-and-a-half or so to buy a new motherboard, processor, memory, and graphics card. Then I can save myself some cash and time by transferring over the rest of my system to the new setup. I might even splurge and get a new case.

Nope. I expect they'll be priced similarly with Intel's chips anyways, though. So it's just a matter of being ABLE to choose, and not really the currently standing AMD-has-the-lowend-market-but-Intel-has-
the-highend-market deal, so it's not really pertinent to buying a new processor for NG anyways.

That being said, I want a fucking K10 now. I guess I'll have to wait for them to come out before I can build a new system, though. Bah.

Also, I can't see my fucking cursor anymore. God damned PHP.

Depends if you run AMD or Intel.

The former might actually be affordable. The latter is more expensive, though higher quality in the upper-ranks of processors.

On my 10th birthday I received two packages of Pokemon cards as part of the gift, and one of them had a foil Charizard. I set it aside about an hour later in a safe place in my basement, and later, after my friends had gone home, I couldn't find it. To this day I still wonder where it went, though I lost interest in Pokemon not-too-long afterwards. And yeah, I like to think it was actually worthless.

This means my first day off in over a month will be on the 7th, and I finally get to devote a day to studying so I can catch up on my class work. Huzzah!

Working while taking a full load of Engineering courses is NOT a good idea, turns out.

Response to: - The Regulars Lounge Thread - Posted September 22nd, 2007 in Politics

Eh, it was an intriguing story that I enjoyed reading. A bit overly theatrical, but it served to make it a unique read. Considering the propensity of users to post factual stories about their own lives in this lounge, it's only a small step towards fiction. All perspectives considered, his story would be a prime example of fair exception to the rule (of posting stories on user pages rather than on the forum).

Did you actually write that, R-G? All argument about rules and protocol aside, it's an awesome story. Great job. I loved it. :D

It reminds me of something I read in Grade 10, Semester one English, but I can't remember what it was. This is going to haunt me for hours, now.
