3.80 / 5.00 4,200 ViewsOk, So I used to have camstudio which worked all right (Wasn't the best when I wanted some video but it was satisfactory for what I wanted.) but over christmas I got a new computer and thus had to redownload stuff like camstudio.
The problem is that the sound for it that worked before (Where I was able to record the sound of what I was doing) no longer works and I'm have a devil of a time finding out whats wrong or a better Video Capture program other then CamStudio (Right now, I'm even willing to pay for it.)
Any suggestions?
i may have a solution to that black screen.
go to your computers display properties ->> settings ->> Advanced ->> Troubleshoot
now under hardware acceleration change it from full to none.
this will now display the video you are playing as images, frame by frame through the video card instead on displaying the video directly to the screen.
Ok, with life time craziness, I JUST tried this out and as soon as I hit the stop button on Camstudio my entire computer reset. It may just be because my computer is freaking ancient, but I don't think that's supposed to happen.

For example, CamStudio is free.
I've got CamStudio, however when I tried to use it on a DVD I was trying to record, all I got was a blank screen.
Just curious if anyone knows if there is a way to get video and record it without having something connected to the computer (IE A VCR or the like.) Since I've no idea where to even start with that.
Um, a quick question from a totally noob Beginning VA here. I'm curious what would be some good equipment I should get and how I should really go about getting better at this. I've no illusions that I'm going to be the top VA just by having a mike, but I'd like to get better. Currently, I have Audacity, a headset with a Mic, and Adobe Primer.
Is there anything I should change (Such as getting a standing mike vs on attached to headphones) and any suggestions on how to get better?

Ah, I was thinking along the long the lines of either Ultraman or Escaflone. It's too bad that Kirbopher doesn't really come into the forms all that much or we could ask him ourselves.
Well that explains why I didn't get the 37 joke. And I hope some one figures out that zord, as not even the anime freak of out bunch knows what it is.
This coming from a spammer....>_>
Alright, this has been eating up and I can't figure it out, So I'd love it if someone could inform me. In the original Parody Rangers, there was this constant joke of 37. What is that a reference to, or a joke of? And in the third movie, what is the Yellow Rangers Zord? I Know Big O (Green Rangers), Voltron (Pink), and the others, but the Yellow is the only one I'm unfamiliar with.
Eh, sorry. I thought since it was concerning a flash that it would be more appropriate here instead of the General Board.

From what I've learned so far (Which isn't much, so I'm open to learning more some well) Is that even Sprite movies can take upwards to 3 to 5 months to produce a good one, especially if it's the quality of something like Super Mario Bros. Z or The Thwomps Movie. Animating is even harder, since I've got to draw everything yourself by hands, and in some peoples cases (Such as myself) It's better to just stick with sprites.
Don't forget guys, Newgrounds isn't know by the 'Everything, By Everyone' Motto for nothing. We get the epics along with the crap as well. And you've also gotta realize that several of these people (Such as the Kitty Krew) Are just a few people with multiple accounts that just live only to spam. It's a sad thing, yes, but nothing really can be done about it without one of the big guys actually doing something. Which, as far as I've seen, isn't going to happen.
Wasn't the Numa Numa Song just a video? It didn't need flash or anything like that to make and look at how popular it got.
Well, just got Audacity and everything, and I've got to tell you all, I'm happy. And IF I'm right, SirSchmoopy used it to make the opening to Unforgotten Realms sound faster then the copy that's available in the Audio Portal. Regardless, I'd like to thank you guys for your help and I hope you keep a look out for my first flash. (Be wary, though, as since I can't draw for beans, I'm using sprites.)
Mmm, well I was just asking about Unforgotten Realms because I found it odd that the music in the Flash sounded faster (Just faster, not squeaky or anything) while the person who created the music (And has it on his Audio Portal) has the same thing, only slightly slower.
And thanks for clearing up that issue for me.
Really just a few quick questions guys. First off, I heard from a friend that it's better to start a flash with it's music compared to anything else, for better syncing he said.
Second, does flash have the capability to speed up music and sounds? I ask this because I'm a fan of the Unforgotten Realms series and the theme song used in the series itself is faster then the one available for download.
Thanks for you time guys. :)

your welcome >.<
Sorry about that, I was distracted when I was making that last reply. -_- But thanks anyway for the info.
Anyway, I've now made Mario from MLSSS walk across a blank screen, with only a mild screw up where one of his sprites pops up for a moment.....This is all very discouraging.
I also think I understand now why not many people use the Mario and Luigi Super Star Saga sprites despite being available. As with more sprites to animate means more work :P

Another thing I'd like to mention when I do this option, is that when I actually get it to work, I'm unable to break the bitmap up so I can take the sprites I need.
Correction: Most people who publish these sprite sheets to the web don't think to use the alpha channel rather than white/some unused colour (usually fuscia or light blue).
Ah, well I'm pretty much a noob, so I've VERY limited knowledge of what's what. Also, Alpha channel?

I'm not that good of an artists, so while I'm working on my drawing skills, I'm going to be learning flash by doing sprite movies :P
Most Sprites seem to come with boarders

Damn, if THAT'S all I had to do, I would have done it ages ago, since I've got the most recent version of photoshop. Maybe I can actually get to making a movie now....
Ok, I've read up on several threads, gone to about every Tutorial I can find, and I'm still having issues here! What I'm trying to do is start making a small flash video with having that white boarder around the character, and as of yet the only way I've seen to get rid of it is by using the Trace Bitmap function. Yet when I do this, Flash bogs down after it finishes and I eventually have to quit the program.
Is there any easier way to get rid of the boarder where I'm not having to do this or do i just need more RAm for my computer?

Everyone started out as a newb, take a look at Krinkles Madness Comat 1, or The Super Flash Bros Another Day 1. They're as newby as it gets because it's their first.
Right, right. Well, might as well suck it up, do some basic stuff in flash, and hopefully create some interesting. At least I'm not going to put some of the wast of bandwidth that we see every so often *Shudders at the memory of a badly drawn mario being force feed a badly drawn cock.*
I know that, I'm just wondering if there was a guide that went a little deeper then what we had (Or in my case, what I could find.). That's the crappy thing about starting out , it always takes a while before you get any good.
I'm curious if there are any other sprite tutorials around that go a little further then just tweening or is that all you'll need to make movies with the quality/caliber of Super Mario Bros. Z and the Thwomps Movie? And Yeah, I know a good chunk of you probably won't want ANOTHER sprite animated on Newgrounds, but We've all gotta start somewhere.
Crap, that's what get for skimming the rules. Sorry about that guys, and I'll make sure to actually have something significant the next time I post something, instead of being an idiot.
I'm a newbie that just got his Newgrounds account like about 5 minutes ago. I just really wanted to say Hi to everyone and really just start getting into Newgrounds for real, instead of just watching videos. I, in fact, just got flash myself and I'm going to be trying to make some movies (Though I'm more then likely going to stick with Sprite movies, as I can't draw for crap.). Here's hoping I'm going to do good on it.
