How fucking entitled are you that you demand Tom and the staff take personal responsibility for every controversial, fucked up thing you want to make? These guys have sacrificed a lot in order to maintain NG as a platform for our creative freedom--is it too much to ask that we not abuse that free......

I am so not reading all of this, I said i understood get lost

We have a plan to overhaul the voting system and when we do that, all of the Portals will becoming a unified set of code and will award EXP. I would also like to award EXP per vote, with a daily max, vs making you reach the daily max in order to deposit. This way if you just vote on one thing a day, you can still slowly climb the charts. Right now you can vote on four things a day and make no progress if you don't vote on that fifth thing.

The new voting system would be so cool if all of this was featured in it, especially the thought of voting on something and receive EXP per vote instead of having to view exact number of submissions to deposit the EXP points. What would then be the daily max, what stops users from voting on 150 things to increase EXP.

Pico and Assassin, at the time, didn't risk putting the website out of business. This does.

Never mind Wade, reading through about 7+ more pages of the same question I have gotten my answer, still a slippery slope knowing there is a limit.

Just for the sake of it Wade, what about this would pose the risk of the site going out of business, and why wouldn't Pico School in 1999 the SAME year of Columbine including Assassin in the trench coat pose the same risk, of making people so outraged they would speak out and the Site not doing well. The only thing he has proven and I'm not saying I am with this game, I opened it and It wasn't my cup of tea, but what he has proven is that Tom will listen at some point to complaints about material featured on the site and that my friend is like so many others have posted here, A SLIPPERY SLOPE.

During the redesign, Wade used to complain that the front page looked like someone took a shit on it and Rob used to say we should style the entire site with the store colorscheme... Were they right? Is it time for a change?

Tom! Are you that bored?, do we need to remind you on an old very informative flash cartoon, what would stamper say to this whole change.

Tom n' Stamper hammer out the details of the redesign. Stamper is skeptical.

Below you can read a very close friend to the family response

Linda MacKeigan says: 0UpDown0Mark as offensive
The young man killed was Chance Banning a wonderful talented, responsible young man. I have know Chance all his life. His mother is my best friend since 1969 when we attended OCAD. She is broken, she is surrounded by his things. His long time girlfriend lived with my best friend was taken back to her home in Alliston, by her mother. Chance had bought a house in Hamilton to fix up for them but as his father left the two lived with his mother - helping out with expenses.
How do you tell a mother her son is dead due to this senselessness! Today is the worst day of her life. Chance had great and amazing morals and kindness to others - if he drank it would be responsible, after all he did not drive his vehicle YET walked home. Terrible day, a day his mother and loving brothers, uncles and aunts will never ever forget!!!

RIP Chance, Skullkid kept me busy when i should have been learning in gradeschool a decade ago!

Response to: If Newgrounds changed the age limit Posted April 9th, 2012 in General

I don't know about everyone else but i started here at the age of 12-13 :).. Newgrounds is the type of thing that you get use to when you are young then you start contributing crap then something better and better.. It's not the sort of thing that you get use to at the age of 18 or 20 then Newgrounds is just like any other flash website. What makes Newgrounds what it is for me is the history the memories from here hehe.

the only change i really dislike Posted April 9th, 2012 in General

What i really dislike on newgrounds since the new layout is how all the letters i use when i talk to friends from my own country, are no longer supported like

Ãz Ã- ú ó æ á é... It turns into gibberish... i was reviewing an Audio submission by my friend and wrote in Icelandic for him and it just came out like crap :).. I use to be able to use these letters i even wrote

http://plebbi.newgrounds.com/

My very first blog entry in those characters.. is this a way to push you from using anything else then english?

Response to: Why was Search by Author Removed Posted April 8th, 2012 in Where is / How to?

Yeah i can but i did want to search for a specific user like i use to be able to in the old design. I forgot his submissions but i remembered his name so i was lost for a moment, for example you never would forget AdamPhillips but someone might forget the name of that beautiful animation in the jungle "bite something ahh yeah bitey" ( it's an example and poor one at that ) :D

Is there a specific reason to why you can no longer search for a specific author it's Forum, Games, Audio, Movies but not Author anymore?

Welcome to the harsh critics of coders, trust me you'll learn to love them :).. I was searching one of my first post here in 2003 and i can't believe how ugly my codes were and when i abused the if if if if hahaha one guy a good coder and contributor said "if you put that in an on enter frame handler im gonna come to where ever you are and hit you over the head"..

See what they do is they are harsh but it only helps you to IMPROVE. If they would say "what an awesome code i cannot believe my own eyes" they would be lying their ass off..

Read upon AS2 or AS3 what ever you feel like and just learn to clean the code up a bit :) I am still learning AS3 because AS2 is out of date and it sucks but i need to get with the time.

Again welcome to the harsh critics of coders on this forum, love em or leave because they are only pointing you in the right direction, understand variables, understand arrays, understand booleans :).. Just improve it's the best way

Happy coding

Response to: Flash website help Posted April 5th, 2012 in Game Development

Wouldn't it be better to use a switch, first off making the entire page in Flash isn't really that smart, at least i have never liked pages created entirely within Flash. Anyway what i would do is link them using PHP switch for example :).. So not to change address like you said you could just include a switch :).. You can do the switch in Flash i think as well it's pretty much like PHP Switch.

if you read this ProfessorFlash

It's weird i was playing your Gravity Bob game, and i felt like you must have rushed it a bit because your Bouncy Bob is muuuuuch better. It's much cooler graphic style :) What changed why not keep that cool graphic :D for Gravity Bob ^^ Otherwise it's cool games :)

Response to: Need Some Decent As2 Instruction Posted April 1st, 2012 in Game Development

They created AS3: Main and also a really nice site to read upon it, which i am currently doing to upgrade myself from bad programming practices is

http://active.tutsplus.com/sessions/as3-101/

And just read the entier 101 series :) it teaches you about basics about arrays, events, loops and all that stuff the basics :).. It's kind of fun if you give yourself a moment to open a AS3 document and follow him through and see WHY this works and WHY this needs to be like it is.

PS: Please someone explain why using ROOT all the time is horrible? What makes it horrible coding :$.. That is what i like to know ( not being judgemental ) but rather wanting the information what makes root. being horrible in coding why is it horrible to not wanting to accept 3 lines of code for something that took 1 line before :)

Response to: As3: Event Basics Posted March 31st, 2012 in Game Development

I read and read tutorials and basic 101 of AS3 and like i said, it's so new to me. I guess the fact that i knew stuff in flash, its harder for me to ALLOW myself to adapt to AS3. It's hard going from being able to move a character and a lot of other stuff to Basic 101 courses and learning why this and eventlisteners but MSGHero you said i would eventually like it more and that is why i keep reading about it. So far it's new to me and it will take time but hope that reading about it and studying it a bit i can eventually get the hang of it..

Basically, if you have multiple enemies, you want them to work together. If you have one enemy, you want it to avoid attacks while still trying to kill you. As long as the game is enjoyable and the graphics are good, most people won't notice AI.
thanks but like i said i dont know how to do any of that (its my first game) but yes that is what i want em to do as well i in some matches you'd have a partner so id need it to work togather with u to and some times they'd get shooting abilitys and others sword and others stuff like invisablity.also i find games that have great grafics but lousy ai's get boring pretty quick

I don't know if you read this post anymore but like i pointed out in the PM's about the links read them watch them and study them. Also going to a site called http://active.tutsplus.com/ and goto tutorials AS3-101 and just read about action scripting you can learn it with time, it can take time and effort but your game idea is strong and takes a bit of work. You could start by knowing simply how to move a character or how to make him jump with gravity.. How to use inventory, just the basics first.. Start by being in the shallow end before swimming over to the deep end.. I wish you the BEST of luck with this :)
