I don't see why you'd want to. It was a disgrace to the Goldeneye name.

Response to: Reason 4, anyone else use it? Posted June 21st, 2010 in Audio

Hey Achronai! Long time, no see.

Yeah, I use Reason 4.0 and I'm currently beta testing 5.0. I obviously also make industrial music, but I do tons of other stuff as well under different aliases (and sometimes under PizzaBox as well.)

It's an extremely versatile program and you can really make any kind of sound with it - you don't have to restrict yourself to any genre! That and the accurate hardware emulation also make it one of the best DAWs out there, especially when paired with Record, which I also use in some of my songs.

Just curious to what an educated listener would think of this song. Keep an open-mind. Death industrial is just as much of an art as any other genre.

Death industrial. It's gritty, dark, and potentially disturbing. Just like momma used to make 'em.

And this... is what happens when I experiment with extreme sleep-deprivation.

Then to give it an edge of electronic style they add a 4/4 kick and put a fruity fast distortion preset on it and set the master volume to 127%.

Usually its then followed by a claim like "Ok this is experimental music, if you don't like it, its because your upper palate is not as well refined as that of my own, and you simply do not understand it."

God damn. Amen, brother. That more or less summarizes 98% of the music on Newgrounds. It just pains me to see half-assed talentless shit wind up on the top every week... and by that I mean all the songs that are CLEARLY the work of someone opening up FL studio > importing video game MIDI file > selecting stock synths for each channel > minimal mastering > 5/5, 10/10 beautiful composition really captured the essence of the original i liked what you did with the drums too very good remix do one of mario nex time i think you could really do a good job if you keep at it this song rocks keep it up

I hate the world.

Can the trumpets have 12 layers of distortion?

Response to: How do I make my voice sound like.. Posted June 15th, 2010 in Audio

I would just mess around with distortion. I don't think there's a lot of pitch change going on. I mean, it was lowered a little I'm assuming considering the kid said he was 12... unless it was a troll. But really all I heard was distortion. I don't know what program you're using, but if you're using Reason 4.0 the Scream 4 device would definitely be capable of achieving that kind of sound.

Perhaps a point of debate with what makes something experimental or not... if an individual is learning an instrument or software, is learning the tools/skill the same as 'experimentation'? I don't find amateur pieces that sound it to be of particularly experimental nature, more so just amateur trial and error.

Is these songs of mine not experimental? I was experimenting with all of them, and followed almost no pre-written rules that would define it into a genre or anything of the sort. I just made sound using techniques I'd never tried before.

It's far from my best work... I'm not too proud of this one, but any criticism is appreciated anyway.

This was less one of those "I put tons of effort into making this sound amazing" and more one of those "I put tons of effort and time into just finishing the damn song." I rarely finish my projects, so I'm trying to finish what I start, regardless of how awful it sounds... Don't worry, I won't be uploading all the suck that I make. I'm uploading this one because I think it has a lot of potential and there's a lot of elements I like in it.

I didn't make them, no, but don't worry about them having copyrights on them. I got all these samples from a royalty-free website, so no harm will come from using them.

Please do me a favor and critique this song.

I mean give me criticism. Not "Really cool! I like it!"

I'm lacking greatly in constructive reviews.
