All of his sprites would just be full body captures of that guy from Hobo with a Shotgun, Old Mortal Kombat style, but the shotgun is replaced by a lute photoshopped over it.
He only has one attack and that is to make bullets fire out of his lute while he plays a majestic "shotgun being shot" melody with his lute (which will just be an MP3 of a shotgun being shot), but he can only do this twice in a row then he has to reload his double-shell lute with lute-bullets to keep firing.

Also based on this it is hard for me to see what you do. You know, you can say you are not an "idea guy" but you should still say what you are doing. You said you were willing to do as much work as anyone else. What kind of work would that be?

No, that's not what i meant. You just said that's what you'd be doing so i was curious of what that is.
Could you outline what your job in the project would be?

After review of some of the comments on my previous thread, that the code is bad or something (I have no coding knowledge so it is hard for me to gauge) my programmer took the week and edited a lot of the code to hopefully make it more appealing. To anybody who has already seen this please skip to the code bits and read those.

Hello anybody reading this! Me and a talented programmer (Ian) have been working on a flash game for the past several months called "Encore". Ian has recently started university however, and we have decided that the best thing to do is to get another programmer to finish the game.
It is a fixed shooter game where you control a planet in the middle of the screen and shoot incoming enemies and fight bosses and all that good stuff. You grow tumors all over your body that you use to shoot the enemies with, and you can also buy planets that orbit you and provide extra aid (the planet can shoot, exude an aura that poisons or slows oncoming enemies, shoot bombs, reflect enemy bullets, shield you from bullets, and like 2 others that i'm forgetting).
These are purchased at the end of every level like upgrades
The game is structured with 30 levels, seperated into 3 sections, 8 regular levels, 1 mini-boss at a 5 level interval, and one big level boss at 10 level intervals. There are 19ish different types of enemies, and 6 bosses.
Here is the current main demo of our game. WARNING: what we want the gameplay to be has taken a different direction to what we originally intended. We originally were making it a really slow paced shooter, but we found that as too slow, so one of the most recent changes we decided on doing was to make the entire game faster. This was while Ian was just starting University, so we never got the chance to implement that change. These gameplay demos are the current version of the game, but we want to make the game much faster
Current version of the game: Encore - current version
And this is our most current demo the 2nd level boss: Encore 2nd boss
Here's what we want you to do:
The game is about 85-90% done. The art is about 98% done.
You would need to know how to navigate Ian's code
Here are some sections of code that Ian selected so you can see if you would be able to work with this type of code.
--REDUX--
1. code 1
2. code 2
3. code 3
4. code 4
--REDUX--
We would need you to implement these things among others:
- Speed increase to the game
- The final boss
- Tumor upgrading
- Revamped upgrade screen
- A cutscene
- and various art change-ups and balancing
- and a few other minor things that I'm forgetting
Once the game is finished we will attempt to get the game sponsored and you would get a percentage of the profits (whatever that may be). Currently we are offering a 10% cut but we are not completely opposed to offering more if necessary ( this percentage may seem small, but we have been working on this game for the past 7-9 months and you would be completing the last month of production and again if the work is worth more than that we will offer more).
This might seem really to the point and professional, but that's just to get all the points across. I'm really not a serious guy at all.
Hope you will consider working with us soon :)
P.S. We are also working with a super talented musician/sound designer, and if you run into any problems understanding the code Ian can help anytime.
Oh and good luck on your Cornered Jim game. I heard about it a little while back and its looking pretty cool :)
One caveat however: you might have to do something about the game being 12 mb.
Games that are close to 10 mb already have a hard time getting sponsored unless the size is absolutely necessary, like if it's a huge RPG or something.
Hmmm... That is a bit of a problem then, because as far as I can tell the file size will only increase. Almost all of the game content is already in there, but the music and sound FX haven't been added yet and we have a bunch of tracks already (not that we'll be using most of them).
But thanks for the advice, i have never even considered that ( I knew that the file size was a thing to work on, but I had no idea that it would deter sponsors or anything like that).

Sorry for getting kind of agressive and assuming things, but you have to realize what you are asking of people, and realize they have no reason to trust you. so you have to show them what you are working on to even get them initially intrigued about your project, let alone work on it.

It's a rather large project, and it mixes medieval elements with magic, etc. etc. Basically, it's an epic fantasy.
It's 2D, a side-scroller, and places heavy emphasis on PvP, though it also has campaign, multiplayer campaign, and more.
So, I basically need a guy who can animate my pile of art. A HUGE pile of art. It would be best if the animator has CS5.
Moreover, I do have a contact who knows a member of a computer gaming company.
Please join! My team is in DIRE need of an animator.
For what you are asking (which is a lot) can you post more on your project, like a design doc? or even a prototype you have?
And if you are afraid that other people will steal your idea, get the fuck off your diamond pedestal where everything you shit out is gold. ideas mean nothing. actual product means everything.
You definitely should add a more clear outline with better blended shading. It doesn`t have to be a black outline just a darker egde to the object so you can clearly define its contours, you seem to only focus on the highlights of the image, though they can add emphasis when you are completing a drawing or something they are what you should normally be added minimally you have hardly any flat colour and seem to transition straight out of a hard highlight to a hard shading. Also your shading seems oddly inconsistent with some parts and some just are shaded really loosely, especially around the edges
I realize that most of this is due to them being sketches, but come on dude. Its on the internet. It will get judged for what it is, so please don`t use that as an excuse. Just take some time for your next thing instead of abandoning it for something you might think is better (finishing things is always cathartic) so just put an obscene amount of effort into it and even if it sucks you will probably learn something.

it is honestly amazing how little you understand, that "One guy" who created call of duty, was probably an artist or a programmer at the company, but he showed initiative and great design ideas so he was promoted to "lead designer" or whatever the hell they call it.

Obviously we can collab on ideas, ya silly bunz XD. I just finished Final Fantasy 13. HOLY SHIT. Deepest story i have ever played, when cloud dies I cryed sooooo hard. I can tell you must have an amazing story with lush 4 dimensional characters.
Maybe a character has a dog, but then...the dog dies. but that's not it yet! The character then has a girlfriend who he names after the dog. but one is a devil and they other one is an angel (it would be symbolic, trust me) so they can only talk to each other through the dead dog. I don't want to give too much away because i know how newgrounds just LOVES to steal my great ideas. but trust me it is a deep storyline.
i drew up some of my characters so you know that i'm legit art.
now this is only a sneak preview of my original character so you better not steal it ;D, his name is nimbus and he wields a giant sword
Did i mention that the sword is on FIREEEE!!!!
i know, its never been done before but i want to push boundaries man. and also he has this really epic finishing move, i've sketched it and i show it to my super kawaii girlfriend ^= =^ where he throws his sword into the other guy, then he grabs it flies up into the air and as he takes it out of him he sommuns SATAMONICABULB! who come down from the heavens but up from hell at the same time somehow and does a major explosion. This whole attack takes around 40 seconds, but that's the animators problem because FUCK THAT GUY!

I use the line tool for the lines, did the outlines and filled it with the fill tool
then is the really inconstitent lines thing done on purpose? because i am 100% sure that you can adjust the universal thickness of your lines. i mean i don't really like it but art is a pretty subjective thing so if it was intentional then don't mind my comments on the lines, but still work on the shading.
At 4/22/12 06:52 PM, BlackMist75 wrote: More Vectors
You could benefit from having a much more constitent inking or lining (whatever you call it)
i can tell that you probably either have the smoothing much too high (use smoothing around 30-50) trust me it will look kind of shit until you get used to it. or you are using the "smoothen" tool waayyyyy too much once you finish a drawing.
also the shading should be more constitent either that or you need to ad more detail to your guys.
maybe that guy has a flatish kind of oval top and your shading is perfect, from my perspective your shading looks rather off considering the light source you are trying to emulate. the shading seems to cut off near the top rather than curving off like your light source implies.
also this is just a personal thing but your shading seems a bit too abrasive, you seems to darken it much too quickly which would be fine if you had minimal shading, but with you shading a good 70% of the character it might be more effective to use much lighter shading, or to colour your lines might help the "really dark shaded" look
i just reshaded your guy using the techniques i listed so you could see what they look like (just the head because i am lazy)

OK FINE! 40%, but you have no idea how hard it is to do this job.
I have to make the ideas IN MY BRAIN! Then i have to write down brutally undetailed concept arts for attacks and characters. Then i have to tell people what to do while i feel smug self satisfaction. I have to inform the community to be excited for MY game (This will always be MY game, like a big fucking "GAME BY MIKKO PIIRONEN" title screen that just stay up for like 4 minutes). then i have to tell people to keep up morale and work faster while i jack off to anime.

I promise to only take 25% of the profits.

So just write stories and Ideas that are so constitently great that everyone knows and loves you and would be happy to make a game that you write/design.

Hmmmmm, let me use logic to deduce your way of making a game
1. You want some people who have the know-how to build a game to take their time to develop your idea.
2. a) You don't want to learn the skills to make the game.
2. b) You want to learn the skills to make a game but this idea isn't worth your time or effort to do so.
in scenario a) : Then why the hell are you trying to make a game.
in scenario b) : If your idea is not worth your time why would it be worth other people's time.
