I think this is good for an... Emmy! Please continue to make Flash movies with stick figure fights. We all love them. Pump them out as fast as possible (wow, you did this one in 5-10 minutes?!) and you'll get an even bigger fanbase! Hooray.

Goddamn, Salad Fingers is brilliant. It has a sort of morbid humor that everyone should enjoy. I'm sure David Firth created it simply for all your "OMG IT IS TEH SACRY AND CREPY IM VOMITIGN AL OVER MYSELF"-ish comments. I'm definately awaiting more episodes.

And to the post about it going as a TV series...
I doubt that would work. The short Flash movies are funny for the reason that they're short and random. It would just get old and annoying if the same random humor dragged on for 15/30 minutes straight. It wouldn't be too smart of Firth to refuse the money, but it most likely wouldn't make it as a TV series.

I have a skater friend who visits the LUE board regularly, and it actually stands for "Life, the Universe, and Everything". Don't ask me why they are referring to it as a person, though.

It's the StandAlone player for Flash MX though, not MX04. Sorry about that.

There's three ways, but the easiest is to go to your File menu, and select Export Movie. Then just type what you want to save it as, and voila.

But don't send in your "rather horrible" flash just yet. Keep working with Flash until you can make a decent product that the Newgrounds audience will enjoy, and then submit it. If you submit yours now, you will probably wind up getting a long ban from the portal, and getting your Flash blammed. Always take into consideration that just because you find it nice because you made it, others might not find it so good.

Er, wouldn't it be basically the same as the Daily Feature award? The one with the most points wins..

Or maybe you could animate it yourself. Since flash is for making animations and all...

I do agree that after you've learned twice, you deserve the ban. It helps smack some sense into those that won't give up with endlessly submitting their crap. It gives the author time to think, and hopefully most will realize that the Newgrounds audience wants quality in what they watch. At least this is my view on it. The ban helps them realize that what they currently offer sucks, and that they should put more time/effort into it.

No no no, he's saying how the main problem about the depth would be the hitTests. Say if you had a building in the distance that you could pass when you were infront of or behind it, but not at the same distance. In most FbF animation, you redraw the entire thing you are animating in every frame. There is really no need for more than one layer. You draw, make a new blank keyframe, draw again, make a new blank keyframe, and continue this process until you are done with your animation.

The daily 3rd is basically all scripts that are availible on FlashKit in a tutorial. But still, a more in depth sample of your "greatest FPS" would convince me. From what I see, you just have four buttons leading to animations inside movie clips. And the camera remains a button after the animation, by the way. You can destroy it over and over.

I'm still unimpressed until you show a better demo.

And I'm curious... how are you planning to program the enemy AI?

No offense, but I highly doubt that clicking on buttons to trigger animations will amount to the greatest flash-based FPS. And it took you fifteen minutes to script four gotoAndPlay()'s? If I were you, I'd start smaller. That's just my opinion though...

I don't personally have it, but I can assure you this:

If you are considering learning actionscript, you definately need an update. Learning with all the deprecated functions messes you up bad. Plus, the earlier versions of Flash didn't have many capabilities for Actionscript if you know what I mean.

But, on the other hand, if you are wanting to learn how to animate, I'd tell you to stay with Flash 3. Flash was originally created as a program to animate, so I doubt the version really depicts how well you can make an animation. As long as you can draw on a stage on different frames, I'd say you're set.

Sorry I was so harsh, but I'm glad you saw it through to start small. It makes all the difference in your Flash making skills.
