It depends on the type of war. Modern warfare has been largely guerilla and the key to that is always knowledge of the terrain and the backing of the local population.
However if the safety of civilians is not a high priority, such as in WWII, superior air power is what matters. If you can carpet bomb a city there wont be much of a local resistance or terrain to worry about.

In N.Ireland the first thing many inocent men did after they were released from internment was to go and join the IRA. The detention of innocent people without charge or even due process only adds credance to armed resistance.

I just bought counter strike : source and wen i went to register it to play online it said it was a duplicate key and i couldnt get on. it was a new game, not preowned or anything so i dnt know what the problem could be, any suggestions or shld i just take it back?

None of the Europeans could have really used them in Europe. The dangers of nuclear fallout being blowen to their own countries or to that of their allies wld have been to great. And you can only presume that the A bomb saved lives, and even if it did 200,000 civillian lives is a huge price to pay.
Pakistan are hardly the most stable of countries, they have been threatening india with nukes for decades over who owns Kashmir. They are only getting good press now because they are letting the americans have a military base there for operations against al qaeda.
Now that N.Korea have them the idea of invading there is out the window. And how can u claim that america have no imperialistic ideas? this is just a new era of imperialism, invade a country or fund a revolution and install a puppet government, this is just the evolution of imperialism.
It is impossible to reach the speed of light. As speed increases so does energy. And as mass if really just compressed energy the mass of an object increases as its speed increases. This is not noticible at small conventional speeds but with large speeds the increase in mass is huge making it more and more difficult to accelerate the object.
So to reach the speed of light you would hav to hav a mass of practically zero.
Id just like to point out that several of these so called "fucked up islamic countries" hav gad nukes for some time and none of them have used them. Theres still only one country to ever use nukes in an actual attack on a civilian population.
They are a good deterent but they when only some countries are allowed to develop them its not so much a deterent to war but a way of maintaining military superiority for a few countries.

The watch on the space ship will be the slower one. Altho such differences would only be noticible wen traveling at speeds close to that of light. The faster you are moving the slower time appears to go for you. its to do with time dilation, the space ship would also appear shorter thn it really is to us (lorenz contractions).
The only down side to this whole "fight a war" stance is the fact that its not even hindering "terrorism" in the slightest. Infact, since the invasion of afghanistan terrorist attacks hav pretty much doubled each year. Dont get me wrong, im not saying that either sadam or the taliban were beautiful peace loving regimes but i think that improving foreign policy and world wide relations should be made a priority before the west makes any more enemies than it already has.
The way there operations hav been handled has been nothing but a recruiting policy for fundamentalists. And the quite grotesque hanging of sadam will only go to strenghten the resolve of some people and push even more into extremism

There has to be oposition partys and people challenging the views of others to constantly improve the system, its when people get so rooted in their political beliefs that they cant see any room for improvment that the problems arise. When more emphasis is put on who is going to win the argument than what is best for society as a whole.
