I need to make it so when you push spacebar it hides several buttons and graphics. Then, when you press spacebar again, it shows those things. I'm trying to do subtitles with play/stop/menu button.

Thanks.

If I did that would I be able to hide the layer by pressing spacebar?

Also, I pretty much have it fixed. I just made the movieclip a graphic and its fine.

Right now I just need to know how when you press spacebar it hides several buttons and a graphic.

All help is appreciated.

Here is what I have so far, for the record. Try to press play or stop, it stops the movie, but not the subtitles.

Any advice?

Sorry for the triple post, just trying to make things clear.

I can clarify if I need to, but I think I covered everything.

Subtitles/Menu Toggle Issues... Posted May 14th, 2010 in Animation

I've made this movie and want to add subtitles, a play and stop button, and a menu button that can disappear and reappear by pressing spacebar. What I did for the subtitles was made a new layer over the actual movie and just made subtitles.

Then I selected all of the frames in that layer and made them into a single movie clip and made the movie clip go from the point the speaking starts to the end of the movie. It turned out fine. This is where I have run into some issues though. At first I opened the movieclip with the subtitles in them and added a new layer for the menu, play, and stop buttons.

I added the proper AS for the play and stop buttons. Just simple, on press, play. Or, stop. You know. Anyways when I tested the movie out, it didn't stop the movie itself, but rather the subtitles. So I removed the layers in the movieclip with the buttons and added a new layer above the subtitles layer in the actual movie itself, the main timeline. When I clicked the play/stop buttons this time, it DID stop the actual movie but the movieclip with the subtitles continued to go.

So I have several questions, so please bare with me here. First off, what should I do to fix this? How can I make it so when I click the play or stop buttons the WHOLE movie stops playing or resumes playing? Also, how can I make all of the buttons and subtitles appear and disappear by pressing spacebar? In other words, if someone doesn't want to see that they can press spacebar and it will not show up. If you press it again, say, 2 minutes later, they reappear and are in synch with the movje.

I think all I may have to do is just make it all one big movie clip and make it when you press spacebar it sets the alpha to that movieclip to 0. I need a lot of help here. Thanks ahead of time.

Sorry if I'm asking to much...

Any help on how to make it look like a large field rather than a small surface area?

I also want to make it look like a huge field, rather than a small round moon or something.

Of course I'd go over it and shade it, that is just the outline...

I want to make the area look massive but can't accomplish that wishout making it look small.

Any suggestions? I can clarify if I need to.

I could still always use more advice, though.

Surpassingly, Newgrounds is one of the few unblocked websites at my school.

I've also known about Ultrasurf for a few months now. It's pretty helpful but can make your PC run slow.

Yeah flash, how else are you gunna animate it?

There are a lot of programs...I didn't know if he made the grid in another program and imported it.

Anyways, I did a grid system and it's actually pretty nice. Only problem is it looks like the camera.. or the viewer or whatever-is moving around a small sphere instead of a vast area.

Here it is.

He explains it a lil in the first chapter of his tutorial pdfs. If you wanna take a look at that, I suggest you do...

That's actually more helpful than you can imagine. Thanks a lot for that. How exactly would one go about doing that in a program like Flash? And what would I tween?

Sorry if I sound inexperienced because I'm not. I've just never experimented with this sort of thing.

He has a lot of those types of scenes you're trying to animate.

That did help. I just need a general idea of how to animate this thing though. I've never done anything like this before. I don't even know where to begin. I don't want tutorials or anything, just an idea.

Thanks.

Tell him how you truly feel about him bulling you, and he will change his ways and realize his wrongdoings. His guilty conscience will be all the humiliation he deserves.

No

Since it is a Xmas video it would be akward to have it to go through the submission process again at this time of the year:)

You are completely fine. If you just click into "My Account" and under the Flash Portal Prefernces Tab click "Flash Submissions" and you can edit it from there. Just upload a new .swf file in its place.

Trying to Animate... Posted May 12th, 2010 in Animation

I'm working on this Zelda Game on Flash. It's not like a Zelda Game it's more of A DDR type game. Anyways, at the beginning of the game after the pre loader loads and you press play I want to have a first person view of the camera moving through hyrule field. Not only that, but everywhere. To Termina, the great sea, etc. Basically I'm finding it hard to animate the field and everything moving. I'm going to do this FBF and I need a little help or maybe a few suggestions. Thanks in advance.
