Okay here's one.

back in the 1800's it took 3 days for the pony express to ride from Los Angeles to San Fransico, and it took 3 days to ride back. So a particular Pony Express rider left on Sunday from Los Angeles and got to San Fransico on Wednesday. He then came back on Sunday. How is that possible?

I have 2 guitars right now. I have my 12 year old Peavy Preadator that still has a great sound, especially for a guitar I paid under $200 back in 1991, and I have an Acoustic/Electric Takamine EG541SCB which is a pretty sweet guitar. My next guitar is definitely going to be a Les Paul Classic or Standard Premium.

Topic: Can Beer Go Bad After Months?

Posted: 12/23/03 10:06 AM

Forum: General

At 12/23/03 12:53 AM, ShitOnAStick wrote: ..Cause I found some from the summer...And..I want beer now :(

Beer's worst enemy is sunlight.

sunlight, more specifically ultra-violet light, is a huge killer of beer, if it is in glass bottles and exposed to sunlight it will skunk. It causes a chemical reaction that creates sulfurs in the beer giving it that "skunky" smell/taste. Clear glass bottles with twist caps are supposed to contain very low quality beer, but god bless Miller Highlife.

Temerature, going from hot to cold, to hot to cold...doesn't really cause a beer to go bad, it just alters the taste in a negative way. An example would be leaving beer in the trunk of a car on a hot summer day, then throwing it in a fridge. The heating of beer will cause the sugars in the beer to carmalize altering the taste.

If your beer is a few months old, been in a cool place, and has not been exposed to sunlight, it'll last.

I know what you are saying, You can listen to it here.

I don't think there was ever a Trasnformer's song in the front page.

Yeah, that's the one that was done by Shok, there was another one before that, it was heavy on the Drums, and thinking back I believe it was done by HIVE. I agree I don't think there ever was a Transformer's theme song.

but I digress....

here are a couple more oldys-but-goodies that I got a kick out of

Yeah, before I ever signed up I came here. I remember that music. Was the Transformers music, right? That hasn't been on for a long time.

I'm not sure if it was the Transformer's music, I was thinking of Shok's music that he had on the front page, or that heavy techno drum music, that I think was also Shok's music. This site has seen a lot of face-lifts, it's hard to keep track :). I really like what Stamper has done now. It looks amazing.

I may not post a whole bunch or vote on movies, but I do my part by visiting the site everyday, and clicking on those ads.

Tanner, I like those set of rules, definitely something that this BBS needed, espicially when, what was his name? Atomic or something?, would post.

Here's another oldy-but-goody flash movie. I always got a kick out of this one

It's almost 2004, unbelievable. I haven't posted in this Bulletin Board (excluding today) at least in a couple of years. How the time has passed, especially since graduating from Drexel and moving into corporate america.

I can remember when Tom and Ross decided to take a break from school to work full time on the site, and things such as the Portal, and this Bulletin board were created.

I can remember the old Logo that was just a big red NG, until Tom hired his friend Andy to do design work for the site. Andy created the Tank logo, as well as the BBS Level pictues.

I can remember when Tom first got his webcam, and me, him and who knows who else used to stay up late, get hammered, and take funny pictures, some of which are still around:
http://www.newgrounds.com/collections/webcam.html

I can remember, when the Front Page of the site had that music that was cool at first, but got annoying as hell later on. Some of the more popular flash movies were Blundercats, Tupac-Shakur's death (with the Cheetos), Barnyard Sheningans, and That trasnsformers tribute short.

I can remember when Wade got hired, and he'd show up at the Apartment at 8am with Dunkin' Donuts, and a briefcase full of fake dog crap, wigs, stink bombs, and an assortment of fake teeth, ready to start the day.

I can remember when Pico was created...Ha!

Those were fun days back then.

Does anyone else remember this stuff? What do you remember from back in the day?

It's been over a year since I've graduated from Drexel, and moved out of the Old Newgrounds apartment, and boy has time flown. Seems like yesterday Tom and I were up until 6am messin' around with the webcam, drinkin' beers and havin' a good time. Ross was programming his heart out, and chattin' it up in the chat rooms, Wade was knockin' on the door at 8am with breakfast, fake poop, gag teeth, and fart spray! Now Tom's moving (or moved) to Atlanta, Wade is married and living the family life....and I'm up in Boston just messin' around. The good times we all used to have in Philly...Ahhh yeah...So now it seems there aren't too many people I recognize in the message board (just from a quick glance), and it makes me curious if the newer people out there party it up and mess around, drink beers...do whatever. So what do you do?

Why we should feel we need a reason to show others that our existence is worthwhile is beyond me, though, and I'm just as guilty of it as everyone else. Peh.

People have a drive to prove there existance to themselves, but I think the reason people need to show others is so that they can meet the opposite sex.

I'm not saying that what I just wrote is law...but it just is an observation, again coming from a male perspective.

Posted: 03/19/02 10:48 AM

I was thinking about this. More so from a Male persepective. Why do we Strive to Achieve so much? Is it to better ourselves and the human race? Or is achievment used to ultimately attract the opposite sex? There are so many different examples to use. Lets look at musical bands. How many bands out there were formed under the notion that if they make it big, they will have endless money and women? People seem to achieve so they can get noticed. Look at Tom for instance, did he create this website just for the hell of it? Or did he create it so he could get noticed and possibly meet women. Tom loves putting his picture out there on the website, hmmm I wonder why? Why do athletes strive to be the best? Why do so many people want to be Actors, Actresses, or Models? Or better yet, why am I posting this message? Is it so someone will notice me? Maybe....

Anyway, just saw the movie Four Rooms, crazy movie, but I liked it. Check it out.

Posted: 03/08/02 10:19 AM

Forum: General

Well, it is been well over 6 months since I left Philadelphia to move back to good ole' Boston, and when I moved I was happy about moving back...but still there are things about Philly that I miss.

I miss Cheese Steaks...no matter what, I've never had a better Cheese Steak than in Philly. I'm getting hungry just thinking about them.

I miss my old apartment....Hangin' out with Tom, tim, and the gang....couldn't beat it, on any given weekday night a party could've errupted.

I miss Yuenling(sp?) Lager...That beer was inexpenisve, and fantastic.

I miss The New Deck Tavern. Greatest Bar Philadelphia has to offer.

But there are definately things I don't miss.

Bums....Philly Bums are the craftiest of them all...they just don't ask you for money, they Scam you...the bastards! Especially Golden Gloves

Drexel.....I don't miss classes....or anything associated with the University.

Filth/Crime....I don't miss the dirty sidewalks, abandoned buildings, muggings, murders, all that. Boston has it's share of all that, but Philly is on a whole other level.

Well, that is my social commentary for the day.

No they don't Wade....they do a lot of drugs though...

So Wade, does the little woman let you get out and drink at all? I think the last time I saw you drink at all was at your wedding. That was a damn good time too.

Man o Man,

I have patience....

Not tonight, here at Drexel we have the infamous Taco Lou's which is an interesting eating establishment. Taco Lou's provides a decent inexpenisve meal from the hours 9pm to 4am. Well I must say I have never had a problem until tonight. I was happily waiting in line to get my Beef Borrito until....this Quote"Dickhead"Unquote stepped in front of me in line. So, I suspected he was drunk and so I stated... "Yo, line starts behind me buddy..." he said "Sppt...Yeah whatever", that was it, I knew it was on (so to speak). I said and I quote "Yo fuckhead, line starts behind me, so I suggest you step back." Man looked at me, and rolled his eyes, then he continued to order, he then got his order and payed for it. That was it, I stepped out of line, and proceeded to meet this cock-smoker face to face. I then stated that his mother did all sorts of nasty things, and then proceeded to tell him that someone needed to teach him some manners. I suggested myself as the teacher. He then proceeded to tell me he was Quote"Sorry"Unquoute...and that he wouldn't do it again...Whatever...I was shoving, pushing, and yelling by this time(I had enough of these Shitheads)....He then had his crew come up and surround me and him. I was straight up outmatched. We never started swinging although his confidence rose dramatically after his 4 friends showed up. None the less, I was just trying to point out how rude some people can be, and I normally don't burn bridges. Time to start my first Philadelphia fire...

Most people will say "Eh, whatever let 'em go"

But I've been doing that for too long...I say "Fuck 'em" Stupid sons a bitches need to be taught some manners. How on Earth can people be raised like that, I don't know.

You gotta be kidding me, Dallas Ranked #1? no way... The Blues are good, but my money is on Colorado in the West. They got the offense, defense, and goaltending that is needed to win the cup. St. Louis has a lot of talent, but they don't seem to play well with each other.

The East however is a different story. I would put my money on NJ, but they've been having a tough time lately. Especially with the Tie Domi hit that sent Niedermayer into the next galaxay.

NJ in the East
Colorado in the West

Colorado to win it all.
