there has been so much crap on the front page that i think tom just lets them upload their own screenshot and then just puts the highest rated flash on the front page, i think he is just getting lazy.......................

Somebody is selecting flash, making screen shots and adding descriptions. My "Evils of Drugs" made it to the front page, I had not selected an image to associate it with, yet one was there.... if only I had selected the image for "Hardcore Dressup"...

It may not be Tom, but you can't expect him to micromanage everything on the site.

You need to take some history lessons. Metallica is one of the greatest metal bands to ever exist and walk this earth. True, their new shit might suck big time, but their oldies (up to their 1991 Black Album) are gold.

Metallica is quite possibly the only band whose new music is so unbelievably terrible that it actually makes their old shit sound worse, simply because it reminds you of the pain of listening to their new music.

"I'm madly in anger with you" is quite possibly the stupidest sentence I have ever heard.

Topic: Web Site Question

Posted: 10/25/04 09:07 AM

Forum: General

I am a little unsure of exactly where you are in the process, but here we go.

You need to set up a web host, there are many available and a simple search for "web hosting" will yield plenty of results. Starting out, you won't need a high bandwidth, and space is pretty cheap, the cheapest hosting gig should work, although I recommend against free hosting as it makes it irritating to visit your site. Most web hosts will offer to register a domain name for you, it's been a while, but in my experience, about $20 for two years or so.

When you have your hosting set up, and have been given a user name and password, you just need a ftp program, you can find some for free (WS_FTP LE) or find a good, cheap one (Cute FTP). You use the ftp program per it's instructions to upload your content and there you go.

Anything unclear, or any more information you need?

Not really.

I'm moving from texas to massachusetts in about a week.

This assumes that your button is a movie clip with the instance name "myButton", and that your audio clips are marked for exportation to actionscript in the first frame.

nameArray = ["song1", "song2", "song3", "song4", "song5", "song6"];
musicArray = new Array();
for (i=0; i<nameArray.length; i++) {
musicArray[i] = nameArray[i];
musicArray[i] = new Sound();
musicArray[i].attachSound(nameArray[i]);
}
myButton.onRelease = function() {
randomChoice = Math.floor(Math.random()*musicArray.length);
musicArray[randomChoice].start();
};

Are you crazy? The guy calls himself "the edge". Bono is a pretentious prick who apparently believes he is more than some idiot who wears sunglasses all the time, still wears a mullet and was only put in the band because of his "look". The music is dreadful, trite, insipid, uninspired and whiny.

Posted: 10/15/04 10:05 AM

Forum: General

The question "Jesus Or Atheist?" represents a false dichotomy. Regardless, the idea of a god is completely ridiculous, yet many people wholeheartedly believe it. While I completely disagree with the notion of god, I support others' right to believe such nonsense if they so choose, as long as it is not forced upon me. The mere fact of existence does not constitute evidence for god, and anything else guesswork or wishful thinking.

Religion is a reaction of the human condition. All religious acts and beliefs are derived from human wants, desires and fears. Acts done in the name of religion reflect the internal condition of the instigator routed through the religion rather than the religion itself.

At 12/11/01 01:42 PM, Splent wrote: I do believe in God, and I am proud in saying so. For the people quoting Nietchke and stuff, and not knowing right and wrong, you should have taken my seminar class on morals and ethics. You seem to be a psychological egoist;

What is that, you may ask? Psychological egoism states that all people all the time act intending their own self interest. They only care about themself, and they will do anything to get pleasure, whether its morally good or evil. Since you don't believe in good or evil, and you believe in no god, then the pieces fit togehter

That probably made no sense but I am a Christian and I am proud of it.

What absolute morality, or code of ethics exist? And what are the reasons behind them?

An act cannot be good or evil based on god's will. Ask yourself, If god says something is wrong, is it because there is some absolute morality that we are being informed of by god, or is is moral because god said so? The latter is a very weak argument and makes a joke of morality because it is arbitrary. If the former is true, then you need support other than god's will.

I maintain that there is only relative morality, a morality based in the present, physical world.
