Lot's of people are completely selfless.
Who are you to say that all humans are greedy and selfish?
Why does it have to be the U.S. to go?
Oh... Thats right. The rest of the world are pussies.
I'd say it's like seatbelt laws.
There is a seatbelt law to protect you, and their should be smoking laws to protect you AND other people.
I hate how governments create "blanket" solutions which do nothing.
"You can't smoke in these places:
Your house.
The bar.
Your car.
Outside.
But you can still buy smokes."
Wow. I can't believe someone just took close to twenty thing about Canada, and lumped them together from visiting one city to base an opinion.
*Claps*
You sure proved your point!
I've just recently started to question to purpose of speeding limits on highways. I see no point in them. In Canada (I'm sure it's the same everywhere?), we have three lane highways (mostly). The one on the far left would be considered the fast lane. I see no reason to have a limit if we have a slow lane, a medium paced lane, and a fast lane.
Instead of looking for a cancer cure, we should spend money on making better guns.
I'm still calling bullshit on this until I see some hard facts.
I highly doubt any city would hire a garbage man to be a police officer.
There website was shitty. Looked like a teenager made it with Homestead.
lol.

it's rediculous to say the northeast is anything but prone.
Really?
Prone:
Having a tendency; inclined.
So you are saying New England has a tendency to be hit by hurricanes? Or that it is inclined to be hit?
I don't think prone is the word you want.
15 or 16 since the 1600s is hardly prone. Especially when most were tropical storms or depressions.
I'd say they are a likely place to be hit, but prone? No.
At 6/13/06 09:26 AM, IllustriousPotentate wrote:
On the contrary. New England is quite prone to devestating hurricanes.
Not really.

the russian fallout was because of a nuclear plant leaking and not a bomb and I dont think that the Israelis would target a nuclear plant no matter how close it is to a base, besides I live in ireland and the russian fallout hasent affected us that badly yet.
Israel would hit military bases, which some are near nuclear reactors. Get it?

2) Some guys want a city-job. There ARE very good advantages to having one. But some folks don't care which department they get accepted to. As horrifying as it sounds, there are LEOs out there who met the physical and mental requirements to become police officers, but they originally wanted to be city Garbage men. But all of those spots were filled......... so they went with their 2nd choice. These individuals don't care about the job, why would they care about any aspect of the job?
Hahahaha. Totally wrong. I'd like to see a source on this, please. I highly doubt this is how it works.
Ridiculous.

This is funny... A nuclear bomb is not a fart, the wind can't move it that much. Besides, we are not so close to Iran, at least not in a nuclear bomb range. However, if the Iranians use the bomb on us, they could hurt the Palastinians, maybe even more than us, and I don't think Ahmadenijad is that stupid (though he clearly has something fucked up with his brain).
Actualy, the fallout from Russia is seen here:

You are this close to Iran:

You would get hit with the fallout. Especially if you were to hit a nuclear plant, which is very likely since most Iranian military bases and such are not very far from their nuclear reactors.

Asking teachers, hiring kids whom aren't your kid's friend to be your eyes and ears, and other ways....
Yes, because it's easy to get people who have lives to do something you can barely get the time to do. Where is your logic?
Yes, pretty much everyone can. I have friends who were home-schooled by their mom, who really did nothing but give them books. One is in college, another in a university. And just a nice little fact: Both got out of high-school with a GED becase it IS just as good as a diploma. But thats a whole other argument.
I know my parents sure couldn't homeschool. I know so many people with parents who can't do addition without a calculator.
You ask me to explain myself, I did. Now you do it.
I'm not going to retype everything i have said. It's there in black for you.
Not everyone, but most people do. If they don't, they risk their jobs.
You know that most people who work in places like Wal Mart and K Mart are teens who work for minimum wage and get shit hours, right? No one cares.
At least they're not in gangs, and instead sitting around getting too weak and flabby to hurt anyone.
What does being in a gang have to do with what I said? Your kid could still be playing video games and be in a gang. And having your kid fat is cool too. Let's let my kid become obease and shorten his life. good way to show you love them.
I have a friend majoring in psychology, her brother is also taking it (remember those friends who were home-schooled?) I know a few other people who are psychologists, or have taken psychology. And I know for a fact that they all agree that video-games don't have much of an effect.
Would they not agree that all people are influenced by something? Jesus. you're 16. You do not know a bunch of psychologists.
Yeah, it's such a pain to take time out of your own fun to make sure that your kid turns out okay.
So what you are saying is you expect a parent to do the following:
- home school your kids while you go to work and make money
- have a life
- ask people who have lives and possibly children of their own to be your eyes and ears
Boy, that is realisitc.
Thats strike two.... care to go for strike three and see why a woman scorned is so feared?
Sure. I would if I knew what that meant.

Prove what you just said. I think most people with common sense would agree with Fli.
So exercise doesn't build up adreneline?
At least with video games they become weak and flabby and hardly able to do anything violent.
Yes, fat people are much better then healthy people.

Yes; yes you can. Theres a few ways, though granted they can be a bit complicated.
Plus; home-schooling!
Care to list the ways you can, oh wise 16 year old with kids? And home schooling? Not everyone can do that. Did you knwo that?
If anything, it's society thats most of it.Howso?
Read everything I have said. Time is so short in a day.
There don't need to be laws; many companies have company policy.
Yes, and everyone in Wal Mart follows these policies. What planet are you on?
Better than a lot of alternatives, and definatly a lot easier.
Yes, getting an exercise or playing an instrument is a horrible idea. :\
Notice that ever since violent video games started to come out, the crime rate has actually decreased dramatically.
Notice how there has been a rise in pollution since video games came out? It makes no difference. Ask a psychologist.
Manhunt. GTA.In those games, you have a reason to kill people; they are trafficing drugs or killed a loved one. You CAN kill random, innocent people, but it's certainly not required.
You're kidding, right?
Yes, there is time. You just have to make time.
No shit, but you don't get it. Do yo uhave any idea how hard it is to make time for a kid? Jesus. I'm done arguing with a spoiled 16 year old.

Actually, it's not impossible; just an inconvenience for everyone involved.
When you have kids, I'd LOVE to see you keep an eye on them 24/7. You're living in a dream world. Kids go to school and are influenced by peers. You cannot watch your kids while they are at school.
I'm not blaming it on one single thing; but parenting is the most of it.
If anything, it's society thats most of it.
Tell me how its the fault of 'shitty laws' ?
If there were more laws that REQUIRED sales attendents to get parental permission to sell a 18+ game to a minor, then there would be less of a problem.
No one NEEDS any games at all; all people NEED is food, water, and oxygen. Regardless; the violent video games provide an outlet.
You really think games where you kill people for no reason is a GOOD outlet? I love the logic of kids.
Would you rather people steal things and shoot at each other in real life, or in a virtual world? The video games keep kids cooped up inside and off the streets commiting REAL crimes.
So you're video games saves lives? LOL.
Also, I've never seen a single game where you have to kill people for no reason.
Manhunt. GTA.
Oh, theres plenty of time; they'd just rather not, and niether would the kids, so....
Really? So when there is a single parent home with one income in a world where living on 40 grand a year is considered poverty, there is time to worry about your kids? Barely.
Yeah, communism works on paper. So does a dictatorship, democracy, any type theocracy.... It's all nice on paper.

Altanes... You miss the point.
A parent CANNOT watch their kid 24 hours a day, seven days a week in todays society. They CANNOT watch what their kid buys all the time, or who they hang out with all the time. It is impossible.
To blame violence solely on one thing is redundant, and will get you no where. It is a combination of shitty laws, some bad parenting, poor judgement on behalf of the game creators (you don't need a game where you kill people for no reason), and the fact that there is almost no time for a parent to really get to know there kid anymore.

Still... you can't attribute it to ONE thing.
We all know things affect people. Whether it be in a negative or positive way is dependent on the person. This debate is stupid. It always ends up being a group of 14 year old arguing with 20 plusers.

i'm pretty sure the global warming hes refferring to is the one scientists claim is happening whereas what you're going on about are historical climate changes which people don't call "global warming".
The term Global Warming means one thing, not twelve.
Look, whether people get it or not, the planet is changing, and it IS going to affect people. Sure, it might be NATURAL, but if you really think that humans play NO part in it, you're a complete moron. Plants and animals play a part in it as well... The oceans do. The way the land moves. Everything contributes to the warming of the planet and the cooling of a planet. Common fucking sense would tell you that.
People NEED to do their part. Does that mean we need to stop driving? No. But we should LIMIT it as much as possible.
At 6/9/06 12:08 AM, Goliath- wrote:
That global warming is manly natural but humans have contributed to it.
That point is what I agree on, global warming is mainly a cause from the recent ice age where the earth is heating up (on some parts of the world) while human production may have increased it, but only slightly.
Anything else?
So why make a comment such as "Global warming, what a laugh."? It definetly insinuates that you think the entire idea is a farce, when you apprenty feel differently.
