Justice League, teen titans, every single batman, all tight shit. Especially Justice League. There was a Teen Titans marathon on a month or so ago, all day long, and they still play both of them on Boomerang. Personally, I think Batman the Brave and the Bold is great even if its lighthearted because it has great color and still manages to fit some philosphical parts. So yeah, all 3 of those I love.

Posted: 04/22/09 11:57 PM

Forum: General

Last night I dreamed that my 2 sons (they only existed in the dream) had locked me in the bathroom and given me a set time limit to eat a certain amount of raw tentacles. Every minute I aged older and older, and the again would only stop when i had finished eating the rubbery tentacles. After I finished 10 of them, I was free to go and could finally escape, but the stairs had been removed, so I had to jump out the window. However, I was too old and would break my hip if I jumped, so I sat there to rot in the bathroom alone with severed squid tentacles, with no one to discover me.

This was a true dream. I keep a journal of these, if anyone is curious, I have some more fucked up ones.

WHY. WHY have you taken DRUGS?!

It messes your up HUGE. I knew someone who smoked weed who used to be really nice. Then everyone used to beat him up because he acted like a little shit.

X and ecstasy are the same thing.

This is a very difficult question to answer, as everyone has their own motives. Basically, most people start for the experience. They try again because they think it will help fill a part of their life that is empty and make them feel different and better. They continue out of habit.

Topic: How to "update" a frame?

Posted: 04/20/09 09:41 PM

Forum: Flash

You need to use an enterframe handler. Inside a movieclip, it would look like this:
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
//code
}
Inside a frame, it would look like this:
onEnterFrame=function() {
//code
}
I'm presuming you're writing in the frame.,

onEnterFrame() literally means run the block of code on entering the frame. The open bracket specifies the beginning of the block, and the closing bracket is the end of the block. Within the two brackets is your code, or what is checked everyframe.

This runs your block of code once per frame.

If you do it, don't do it to fit in, do it for the experience. For about 95% of people, its awesome. However, for a small percentage it can have very negative effects, I'm one of those people unfortunately. It almost makes me trip and I forgot who people are and start almost hyperventilating because I feel so out of control. I wish it didn't happen that way, but it does. But anyway, this isn't about me, that was just something interesting. I still say try it. It should be great for you.

What's up knuxrouge. Ok.

Melee was all about quick thinking and tricking your opponent and messing with their heads to make an approach or move. That was all necessary to keep an opponent on their toes, but it was useless if not used in conjunction with advanced techniques. Why? A basic reason is that you would not be able to maneuver efficiently enough to achieve what you wanted. How is a captain Falcon supposed grab combo someone without dash dancing? How can an Ice Climber change crab without wave dashing? A wavedash that was too short or a common chain grab being too effective on a character could greatly harm them. In addition, there was L Canceling & Shffling which set the noobs apart from the good players.

Because Brawl lacks those techniques it makes it a much simpler where a noob can beat a good player through cheap tactics. One of those reasons is that theres a lack of the advanced techniques that made melee the competitive game it was. We lost all the useful ones, kept the pointless ones (fox trotting, and all the new ones are either character specific (zap jumping,) or only useful for a few characters (wall clinging, B Sticking, even RAR). Anyway, this is a rant and I know it doesn't directly answer my statement, but what you can get out of this is that compared to the techniques melee had to offer, Brawl has next to nothing, and what it does has is limited to certain characters, is difficult to find a use for, or simply will not help you much or set you apart from poor players given brawl's simplicity. Make sense?

I just found the clip for the funniest part of the vacuum cleaner episode. I never got why Brak's mom was three times as tall as his dad, but god, is that show hilarious.
Get out, I know Adult Swim likes to spoof their own shows in other shows, but Thundercleese in ATHF? That is epic. Brak was truly the first Adult Swim show in my opinion that focused on random humor that somehow made sense in the conclusion of the episode. That was a great show.

So sad its gone :(

Besides, Adult Swim has some shows that are somewhat dirty, and their own television channel could provoke "inappropriate behavior", but hey, it's not Adult Swim's fault. Their own channel would be pretty sweet, bringing back all their old shows and such.

Also, a channel would make room for movies, something they should really start again. I can see Akira, Princess Mononoke, Clerks, stuff like that totally fitting in. And if AS would actually check out their own sites forums, people have great suggestions for new movies and shows that could help. A new channel would also give way for some more variety of comedy. They're obviously experimented with different types of humor with stuff like Delocated, KOTH, and the trio of British shows, and this gives them more space for experimentation, to see how that goes over, and still enough time to show the shows that are proven to be popular (Metalocalypse, Venture Brothers.) They could try out slightly less adult cartoons like Invader Zim and such. I apologize if none of this makes sense, it is really late (not an excuse for shit posting).

I'm suprised you know of Wonder Showzen, I thought that show just flew under the radar and was cancelled. I personally love it, it is so vulgar and trashy, but it is the funniest writing I have seen in a long time. I love how it completely rips Sesame Street, especially when the one puppet asks people questions on the street.

Yeah, it's really funny. Bad news though, I just did some research and Wonder Showzen was broadcast on MTV which is owned by Viacom, and apparently anything Viacom can not be broadcast on AS. Dilbert is kind of confusing. It was broadcast 1999-2001 on UPN which during that time was owned by Viacom, disqualifying it. However, in '05, UPN merged with the WB and became the CW, which from then on was owned by Warner Bros., which also owns Adult Swim.

In short, Wonder Showzen cannot be shown unless Viacom agrees (highly unlikely, never happened before,) and Dilbert cannot be shown if Viacom has the rights, but can if Warner Bros. has the rights (which is less likely). No wonder Showzen is sad, but there are still plenty of other options. I think. Also, I never saw Korgoth of Barbaria (it was only a pilot I believe,) but heard it was good.

I don't know if this is only me, but I don't get Boomerang with my cable. I wouldn't want to pay to get Adult Swim if it did team up Boomerang. Noble idea, but I don't think it would last.

It's on demand I think. It was a cool idea, original. Not really a great one though, I'll agree with you there. And I've only seen the original shows, never the channel, but I think I saw it on Demand when I was messing with my TV.

Nah, I haven't seen it. I just saw an episode of ATHF that claims Frylock created Thundercleese, thought that was interesting. And AS would really be better with Brak back, it was canceled WAY to soon. Things would work a lot better too, it was aqua teen's sister show, and it doesn't work so well with only one sister remaining.

I read somewhere that AS is trying to get their own channel actually. However, I don't think it will happen soon for a variety of reasons. 1, Adult swim has only recently moved to 7 days a week, and 2, AS is owned by Cartoon Network, and ultimately, it's their decision. And I found this thread from a google search, short, but pretty cool.

Personally I think it could work out fine, and gives them a chance to bring back classics (Brak, Space Ghost, Sealab, Birdman,) as well as making it more accessible for people who dislike staying up late to watch the good stuff. During the daytime hours they could run syndicated shows (Dilbertt/Wonder Showzen maybe?) as well as the old ones I mentioned before, and at night keep the usual programming, though they would need some new Williams Street shows

Someone in that thread also proposed a really cool idea: running Boomerang during the daytime. Unlikely, but could be cool for variety

You can find a tutorial for a platformer, side scroller, maybe even a tower defense game. But games like this are simply to specific, and there's no such shortcut. You're going to have to learn the individual skills and functions you need to create a game like this. The AS: Main is excellent for this, but the Newgrounds flash tutorials may be a better way for you to learn (although you won't go very far because they only teach to a certain extent).

This really shouldn't be hard though. If you can understand hitTests, coordinates and variables (which you should if you're attempting a game) this should take little thought. I'l' give you a hint: Keypresses+hitTests if you want to make a really simple version.

Hello newgrounds. This is a very confusing glitch that I think should definitely be mentioned because its interesting and pretty scary.

First of all, please note the following: this is NOT my account. In fact, I have never heard of this user before. My real account name is Pedochu. I was in the audio portal listening to a song called 'Everyday Life'. It is in my real account's favorite audio submissions.

I had just logged in about 5 minutes ago. When I clicked the home page, I noticed the words, 'logged in as deleted'. Thinking my account had been deleted or something, I clicked it, only to find I was in an '03 users account who hasn't posted since '07. I clicked the home page to see if I was still logged in as him. I was now back in my real account, Pedochu. I then clicked the forums, and here I am now, in deleted's account.

The reason I am posting here is to see if anyone has had a similar experience. In the meantime I'll experiment with this and PM Wade. Thanks for any responses, I know this might be kind of confusing.

Hello everyone. I remember an animation fairly well from late 2007-early 2008. I believe it was created by 2 users, but that may be wrong. Anyway, the plot was 2 newgrounders decide to create a flash that they believe is great, only to have it blammed in the portal. Upset by this, the decide to kidnap illwill (creator of Foamy) and force him to make them a high scoring animation. The things I do remember well was that Tom Fulp appeared somewhere, and that Illwill was pimply and sat in front of the TV whacking off to Lazy Town. Can anyone help me? This was one of my favorites.

Personally, I see no problem with a 'damn' or a 'hell' at any age. But there really is no reason to be throwing out a 'fuck' or a 'pussy' when you're still in elementary school. Cursing doesn't make you cool, but it really can enhance the tone of a sentence and help you convey a point. I respect any parent who discourages it, but there's an age where it should really be seen as completely acceptable, maybe 12-13, because at the end of the day, any curse is just a word, nothing more.

Topic: Making a Game, Need Helpers!

Posted: 04/05/09 01:23 AM

Forum: Flash

If you want help on this project, you're going to have to be specific about your skills and the skills you lack so we can understand what specific types of people you would need to help complete your game. There is no need for a space compresser because it is a simple task that can be done through optimizing code and through changing export settings. It's a basic part of flash, that should probably be understood if you're trying to tackle something this ambitious.

Anyway, I'm rambling. I'm not trying to be mean. I just don't really think it's fair to animate sprites why everyone else codes. Do you have any other sorts of skills? Cause that would definitely help you. If you have good ideas, that's great. I'm talking level design, stuff like that. Even so, it's a lot to ask of people to fill in the gaps that you can't. Consider starting smaller and working your way up. Really, as great as this may seem, it's probably unlikely it's going to go far, so I think it's a good consideration.

Topic: Is my game a little too hard?

Posted: 04/04/09 06:59 PM

Forum: Flash

I like this game. The new version is definitely better than the previous one, but there are still some problems with the movement. The movement was good in the first level, but then as platforms became less wide the movement was frustrating. The velocity of the character needs to be slowed down a good amount, and once that's done it might be good if the friction was raised just a tiny bit, but I'm unsure about that part.

A wall jump feature would be excellent in this game, a great addition. Either when the keys are pressed against the wall or when the character is pressed against the wall, a wall jump can be triggered by space. Personally, I think it would work best if the gravity was slowed again if the keys were pushed towards the wall, and a walljump could only be triggered during this. Does this make sense?

I don't understand how you don't get the difference between a .fla and a .swf. But anyway, a .fla file will have red colored icon and is the file you can open up to edit your flash. The .swf is the movie itself. You must upload the .swf, so either press ctrl+enter to create a .swf version, or if you would like to be smart, compress your movie by going to file -> export and reduce and change the movie settings to get a smaller file size.
