Well with the concept of free market, you charge what the market will bare. The market, with tv rights, merchanise, etc will bare the players being paid millions.
In the 70's player in MLB were paid about double the average amercian income (50000). MLB was very popular and profitable. Were did the profits go? The owners.
Do you really want it to go back to that system.... if not are you suggesting no more free market because the reality is that sports MAKE that much money. It needs to go somewhere.
No free market was tried in both Russia and China... both times it resulted in massive underproduction of food (due to collectivized farming) starvation and death.
The problem with the socialist outlook is that people aren't inhereintly good. If given the chance people will do jack shit and be happy about it. Most people need insentive to succeed.
