However, when I run the code, I get an error(try it yourself) what am i doing wrong?

You're tring to add values to an array that doesn't exist. With the code you used, spots would only contain two different arrays (also, what's with those parameters?).

Anyway, Gust's provided a much nicer looking way of creating 3D arrays - go with that :D

The last boss in MGS4 was epic, but it was more of an extended cut-scene than a part of the game IMO. Actually, I might make a list of things which MGS4 could have included to make it the best game ever, instead of just a really good one.

The Boss in MGS3 was the best in terms of drawing together all of the game's gameplay elements - that was also really well put together (I love how the music comes in five minures in).

The most epic battle for me will always be Jenova LIFE. It was just so intense how the sad music from Aeris getting stabbed carried through into the actual fight - it's proof that video games have their own category of incredible editing techniques.

Pretty much everything about Ape Escape was great, but the last boss battles in that had that great, futuristic Japanese late 90s epicness thing about them.

Also, I'm giving an honourable mention to the Buddah in Pandemonium 2, for pure insanity value.

Yeah, my mate cut his hair for the first time in like four years too. It's really weird - suddenly he looks like a fourteen year old again.

You should have just improved upon the mullet. Think of it like this - you with short hair is your basic Tomb Raider character model - you with longer or more styled hair is the improved, fleshed out Tomb Raider II version, in all it's round-breasted glory. By cutting your hair, you're going backwards in character detail. You need to start accessorising to compensate!

Haha, that's a bold bold statement. I've bought stuff online from Play, Amazon, eBay, HMV and Zavvi with my Maestro debit card. Hell, I even bought a NG top using my card, albeit via paypal.

Yeah, I'm in the same position. It must be a US thing :s

Kirk, if you're getting in touch with Bob then I'll vouch for the fact that Maestro's working on pretty much all UK/Europe based sites.

It's quite hard to compare. From what I've seen, MA users amake a habit out of shoving ads in your face, making you sit through them between levels, and basically forcing people to click on the ads (and leave the games) through frustration.

NGAds have always struck me as being a lot nicer to integrate into your games.

You don't need to use a tween at all. Just set the clip's scale to the amount loaded:

import flash.events.Event;

addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, updLoad);

function updLoad(e:Event):void{
  if((loadbar.scaleX = loaderInfo.bytesLoaded / loderInfo.bytesTotal) == 1){
    removeEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, updLoad);
    // script called on load complete
  };
};

why don't you ask for the ads directly from the same companies that provide ads to mochiads and ng?

I believe that NG's cut from our ad system comes from the ad suppliers' side, so we don't lose anything from the system :/

I'm pretty sure that's right. Fuckin big numbers fo trippin me up.

Yeah, I prefer thinking in terms of cash per 1,000,000 views, in which case you get some pretty big slices. $1000 per million is the least you should be aiming for - any less and you want to rethink your placement.

God, this discussion pops up every other week, and every time it's the same conclusion.

AS3 is faster, more efficient, and if you're a slacker like me it forces you to be tidy with your code, which is in everyone's interests. It's also not hard at all to get used to if you're decent at coding in AS2 or other languages.

AS2 is less harsh towards incompetence, and friendlier towards more casual coders. It's also got much nicer documentation.

AS3 is better; AS2 shouts at you less.

At 8/16/08 06:00 PM, I-smel wrote: Also I'm totally gonna be a dick here and remind everyone that the definition of a sprite is just an image. So you could draw anything in Flash any way you want and it'd be a sprite.

There's also the awesome Sprite class which was totally missing from AS2 (basically a MovieClip but with one frame) but that's probably not what you were talking about.

Generally people just take sprite to mean character or effect animations which get handled with script (as opposed to backgrounds and shizzle, although they probably count too if you want to be pedantic) - e.g. a coder might team up with an animator, who'd draw sprites for them in Flash.

It just writes the data to the person's computer (everything's just stored on the object until you call it).

It should be called automatically when Flash closes, but it's safest to do so manually too.
