Come to think of it, is there any drawbacks of having 599x60? People who like 599x50 would still be able to use it, I'd be able to use 400x60, and it seems a lot of people would make use off the extra 10 pixels if given the chance.

Don't like him. His reviews aren't funny usually. The Irate Gamer is far worse but the AVGN just doesn't create funny reviews. The Nostalgia Critic's alright but that's unrelated. It's not just about the proportion though; 400x60 is convenient and a damn good size. If you scaled it down, it would be something like 333x50. Which is far too small.

As much as it's correct that I do like things to be even and perfected as possible (while I don't actually have OCD as far as I'm aware) it really is just the fact that 599 is a crap number and after a year and a half I still haven't memorized it.

I don't mind the negative space at all. At least they didn't center the images so you'd have negative space on both sides.

Besides, even if you have a skillfully artistic eye at getting 599x50 to look good, it will still always be inferior to what it could be like in 400x60. I'm not so much fussed about the negative space as the actual image themselves.

Even if they had it at 599x60 at least I'd still be able to use 400x60 so I'd be happy. I'm not so much bothered about the width as much the height because 50 pixels isn't high enough, whereas 599 is too wide for me so I can just choose anything between 20 and 599 pixels wide.

But I'll still use 599x50 because it's probably second-best to 400x60. I don't have a problem with it, I just MUCH prefer the old sig sizes.

I haven't had a 1024x768 resolution for years now. Even my school, as behind in technology as it is, uses 1280x1024. I'm on a laptop so I'm on 1280x800 (which fucking sucks for finding wallpapers).

Even so, sigs don't have to stretch across the whole BBS to look good. 400x60 is just beautifully-proportioned and it should stay that way regardless of BBS size or whatever.

If not, then I'm referring to the most aesthetically brilliant sig size ever. It was the perfect size for signatures; the new size is just too thin and doesn't look nearly as nice. You could fit just about ANYTHING into 400x60 and make it look good, but with... 599x50 (I had to check, how the fuck do I remember that) it's just too thin to have a beastly sig like were so commonly found on the old BBS.

And that's another point, 599? I understand why they can't round that up to 600, but even so, that's a shit number. I've only had a few sigs since the redesign so I still haven't remembered it, but still, 400x60 was just something I remembered as soon as I found out it was the maximum sig size. 599's a shit number, and 50 is just WAY too thin. (The ten pixel difference goes a long way as far as I'm concerned).
