I totally agree with both of these statements, Like I said previously: I have more thoughts that will be brought up if this topic becomes popular, and these are two aspects of my idea.
Also if you think psychologically about it, zero voters might vote zero thinking it won't harm the submission after others vote, and they may only vote zero to cancel out what they think is the artist voting 5 on themselves. If the artist cannot vote 5 on themselves, this might help promote realistic voting further.

But, think about it , like a few said above, people can just go randomly blamming stuff, or flagging and just give a plain reason to. Honestly, I dont think we can make the AP any much better than the way it is now, sence 0 bombers find there way.

Think about this question logically:
How many songs out there REALLY deserve a zero?

Not very many, it would be a correct assumtion that a user who's mode score given to songs being 0 is someone who is abusing the system. Code could easily be written to lower these user's voting power.

Its all logic based anyways, shit, if I sat down long enough, I could code it myself lol (not specifically for newgrounds obviously because I do not know anything about their coding methods, but you get the point).

Anyways, zero voters really ruin a lot of potential. Think about how easy it would be to go and zero vote all of the songs on the "top songs" list, and then vote 5 on all of your own and have your friends do the same.

In one day, the audio portal could be trashed. And I think that because of this major loophole that something should be changed.

Response to: Ideas for Newgrounds' Evolution MK3 Posted January 9th, 2009 in Where is / How to?

I feel that the Newgrounds Audio Portal, and Flash Portal should not be two separate entities in the sense that they are moderated differently. Certainly there are more aspects of design regarding Flash Animation, however I feel they should be graded the same way.

Newgrounds Audio Portal artists have approximately 20 minutes of recognition before their audio is lost in the abyss of new material. Once a song makes it to the bottom of the "Recent Submissions" list, it is no longer recognized (outside the Top Songs list, and the bleak possibility of receiving the "Best of The Week" spot) When compared to the Flash Portal, the major differences are the flags such as (Under Judgement, Great Score, etc.) and the 20 additional spots available on the Recent Submissions list. This leaves the Audio Portal Artists with much less of a possibility to receive any sort of notoriety for their submission.

I believe that a combination of the "Blams", "Saves", and Recent Material Flags (Great Score!, Under Judgement, etc.) lead to less "Zero Voting," more critical reviewing, and a more fair community in general. With the flags in place, artists generally take a look at items under "Great Score!" or "Verge of Death", this means that if an artist has been blatantly promoting their material on other websites, or having friends all vote 5 on the submission, it will be noticed, and if these grades were not parallel to the quality of the material submitted, a concordant grade will be made by other artists who notice this fact, leaving the Artist with a more realistic grade. The opposite situation is also true, if a user is unfairly voted zero upon, and is "Saved", the users who "Save" the material are accredited with this, and the Artist who submitted the material still has a chance to be noticed by the community.

Also correct me if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure each user's "Voting Power" is based off a scale determined by the Flash Portal. It would be more appropriate if each portal had a different Voting Power based off reviews, Saves, and Blams. Or at least a mix of the two. Currently there is no system in place within the Audio Portal that rewards users that constantly review material, or give appropriate grades.

For instance, if a user constantly zero votes new submissions, and then the song turns out to be a hit, the user's voting power should go down. And vise versa.

Sorry for such a long post...

Newgrounds Audio Portal Policies Posted January 9th, 2009 in Audio

This is not to say "CHANGE MUST BE MADE!!!" or anything, the following is an interpretation, and comparison of Audio Portal, and Flash Portal grading Policies.

I would just like to bring attention to the affects the current Audio "grading" policies have on Artists submitting to Newgrounds.

The opposite situation is also true, if a user is unfairly voted zero upon, and is "Saved", the users who "Save" the material are accredited with this, and the Artist who submitted the material still has a chance to be noticed by the community.

There are MANY more aspects of which I will discus if this topic becomes popular, however I believe that, in general, if the Audio Portal was more like the Flash Portal, it would promote a more fair environment for Newgrounds Artists.

thanks pal, I checked out some of your stuff as well, and it was probably some of the most original stuff ive heard in quite some time

pandoraTranquil is back (and nicer) Posted June 29th, 2007 in Audio

First off I just want to say that this was my last resort to letting all of you know im back, I tried posting in the audio advertisements thing, I tried reviewing peoples music, and I submitted 3 tracks, but nowadays ppl submit so much stuff, in like 10 minutes your song isnt even on the recent submissions list anymore.

So anyways, for those of you who know who i am, and those of you who stood by me when I was stupid and young (rucklo, chronamut, admiralconquistador, fuel2fire, etc. I loved your reviews and your nice-ness) I am back!

And since its been a little over a year since ive posted ANYTHING on this site, it is QUITE different from what it used to be (hopefully better eh?)

So yea, sorry to make a post blabbing about myself, but hopefully those I know will see it and I can reunite my old friendships and maybe make some new ones!

ok, now heres the link you knew was coming, spamming myself like a fool, but whatever -

Hey, I know I hardly EVER submit to newgrounds, but I was reading some old reviews, and I figured id do it for the people who DO review, and it wouldnt hurt to submit a shortened song for download, so here you go.

Maybe its a good idea, maybe its not, however there are alot of remix only artists on NG, and the audio advertisement thread is HUGE, so I figured id see what breaking it down some did.

advertise your remixes here, and if you have none and ur bored, tell what ur fav ones are.

its called Distorted Tranquility, but its really like a crazy remix that uses nothing exept the main melody in wilted dreams, so far its soundin pretty good, an yea, way better than wilted dreams.
