I'm using the newest version of Firefox, which actually seems to be giving me more problems than in the past. I've tried Google Chrome, but it too has bugs.

Maybe once Google releases their post-beta version I'll stick with Chrome.

Sounds like a spam ban, which = a permanent ban. Most review mods including myself will ban for posting such rubbish as chain letter spam and the such. It's very annoying, even if it's only done twice.

As much of a waste of space you might think it is, the video thread helps conserve space on the general forum instead of having 20 different ones on the first page.

It's there to inconvenience potential spammers like yourself from flooding the comment boxes. If you're getting that message there is no way your comments are worth anyone else's time.

What a terrible way to start this thread, with a unfunny picture which is totally contradictory of this topic's title. Look on the bright side though, at least this topic will end on a good note, knowing that we won't have to view a thread full of overused cat pictures 99% of us have seen on google.

To answer the original question

Seems like most alts now are just gimmick accounts.

As far as reasons for making them: (not that I support these reasons)
- before the redesign, we were able to change out user names, the alt serves as a nameholder so someone else doesn't take your original alias. This also being the reason why I made my alt, Sanjay.
- A way to get past the 4 posts per 30 minutes reply in a topic. Most notably used in sig threads or rating threads, which are often locked or deleted now
- To get around a ban while your main account is banned. Doing so and getting caught may result in a extended ban, permaban or even account deletion
- Gimmick / troll account, people will make these accounts to mock other users or to make a complete ass out of themselves, usually with the intention of getting banned
- And on a much lesser extent, some users may make an additional account for statistical purposes, such as a notable calendar date, to blam or protect only etc...

Now I will re-lock this as the discussion in this topic so far has been pretty lame minus a post or two.

Probably some of those balloons they have at the circus. About 20 of them fit into a pretty smal bag, but once they're blown up they're about 100x their original size.
