Response to: Idea for Audio Portal: Playlists Posted March 29th, 2012 in Audio

The audio portal needs all new developers/admins. The current ones don't give 2 shits about us. They took away our only ability to see new reviews. We get ignored about suggestions like this one.

Sorry, just a little frustrated by our second-rate status here on NG.

Response to: The Fate Of The Nacs Posted December 6th, 2011 in Audio

I haven't been here long, so I don't have much experience to speak from, but so far I have seen no problems with Chron like people are describing. Complaining about the rules is just ridiculous. Rules are rules, and his are completely fair. Follow them or don't participate. It's that simple.

I think perhaps one change could be more official judges on board to balance out any "biased" judging. That's a two edged statement, too. What I mean is: have more official judges who judge alongside Chron every month, as well as supplementary judges from a volunteer pool, if anyone else wants to.

Just my $0.02.

Vote for Chron. Support improvement.

In my experience with drugs, some of them were terrifying. Good ones like marijuana are awesome and should really be legalized. Essentially, weed is no different from alcohol, and in fact, a lot less destructive to the mind and the body. Anyways, I have tried different natural herbs like salvia and some other, now illegal drugs, and I have to say, some drugs deserve to be banned/illegal.

One thing I've noticed about fictional interpretations of hallucinogenic effects in movies is that they are really very realistic. I watched "Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas" a long time before I ever did any drugs and remember thinking, "I bet it's nothing like that." After I dabbled in many different hallucinogenics, I remember watching "Fear And Loathing" and thinking how the trippy scenes were actually very realistically portrayed. So I think if a judge or an artist hasn't tried any drugs, they can still judge or write music in this contest.

Response to: Nov. Nac Discussion -brain On Drugs Posted November 3rd, 2011 in Audio

I posted my submission. It's inspired by an experience I had while smoking some crazy shit that really fucked me up for like 2 days. The trip itself lasted like an hour in real time, but to me it felt like an immeasurable amount of time. Then after I came out of it, I had a strange and paranoid sensation for 2 fucking days. Anyways, this song is kind of a musical interpretation of that horrifying experience with an unknown drug.

Your work is phenomenal. Don't let the scores bother you.

Thanks man. (: I'm not too worried about the scores cuz I know that doesn't factor into the judging of this contest, but it just gets on my nerves, you know. xD

Have you noticed that sometimes you get zero-bombed by somebody with some SERIOUS voting power? Like, how does someone spend that long on the site and still be an ass, when everyone knows nobody likes a zero-bomber (or in their case, nuker). At first I thought most of the zero-bombers were nonmembers with hardly any voting power, or new members who were jealous. Then I get one of my submissions with hundreds of votes knocked down almost half an entire point by one vote. Geez.

Response to: The Underdog List Posted May 28th, 2011 in Audio

I nominate myself. I need exposure ;)

About Me:
I have been composing music my entire life, but only the last 7 years have I been actually putting it down on paper. When I was little, I used to make up tunes on my mother's baby grand piano. I would sit for hours and play nonsense that sounded good to me. As I became a teenager, I started realizing there was like a hidden code inside the keys that made certain melodies and patterns make sense. I had no formal training and I used my own time and resources to teach myself how to play various instruments and through that, I learned the essence of musical construction. It wasn't until I started avidly listening to classical music and film scores by people like John Williams and Hans Zimmer that I started to really unlock my true musical potential. Listening to greats like Beethoven and Vivaldi, and also Gustav Holst (who John Williams himself draws much inspiration) led me to really discover the wonderful world of music. I am hoping to become a professional videogame music composer and maybe even a filmscore composer. My skill and musical understanding, my ambition and my obscurity all qualify me as an "Underdog" of music.

Response to: I'm curious about how you compose. Posted May 20th, 2011 in Audio

For me it depends on the genre or style of music. For video game tunes, I will start with an introductory riff, then add a bassline. After that I will compose a main lead melody and write chords on top of that, with a new bassline. Then finally I do the drums and then mix it all up with little breakdowns and choruses and verses.

For classical, it's a lot different and takes much longer. I start by writing a melody, then I write some filler background strings/brass. Then I do it again with a new melody that makes sense with the first one, and alternate the two. I may add a third main melody and variate between all of them at different intervals and changing little dynamics. Once again, the last thing I add is the percussion. After I'm done, I have one movement. Then, I get to work on the second movement which will usually be in the same key but be an entirely different mode/theme. Sometimes I'll add an allusion to the motif from the first movement. The third movement is usually a rework of the first movement, and the end of the second transitions in to the third. It's an ABA method of classical composition.

Response to: Want people to hear your music? Posted April 25th, 2011 in Collaboration

My music is classical/cinematic. What kind of music are you looking for? All genres?

I hope this doesn't count as advertising, cuz I'm not advertising for the sake of any kind of business revenue or profits. All I want is to work on a good project. I would like to compose music for your endeavors. It doesn't matter what it is, if you contact me or reply in this thread, we can talk and determine if it's a project I want to work on or not, but most likely I will want to work with you if you aren't just a complete jerk or something. I have two things uploaded here on NG so far, and more to come very soon. If you like what you hear, let's talk. I'm ready to make something amazing that will stun people for years to come.
