I've been playing Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles: My Life as A King, a game that requires too many colons, off WiiWare. Now being a mind-numbingly easy game on normal diff, I've gotten to the point where I'm checking individual houses trying to raise morale and such. There's two particular households that really have me concerned about the inner goings on behind the E For Everyone facade.
The first house is the home of a mother and child. Their Love-O-Meter is low and I want to boost it to get a power-up for my warriors. So I stalk this house for days looking to catch one of them, have a convo, and get that meeter up. Well, the thing is, I havent seen the boy Adele or his mother, but his mother is always there to answer the door. I remember speaking with Adele all the time, but all of a sudden he's vanished. The game swears that he's home. Adele's mother killed him. Its the only explination.
The second house ties into the Orwellian Nightmare the game is based on. The children of the town go out and fight the monsters while the parents stay home. What the fuck kind of communistic propoganda is this!? Children risking their lived while able bodied men lounge around the town all day in our eutopia? Not only are children used as fodder against all-powerful evil, but I ran into a house that had a child as a buttler. My surprise led me even further into pointless menues to find that the mother of the household is closely watching him and the head of the home doesn't think he's doing a good job, while this poor house-slave thinks he doing a good job all the while. Its really sad.
