Well, they're not really that much different from the old uniforms made by Reebok, except for a few small designs on the Nike jerseys. {Seahawks are the obvious exception, and their new unis are OK, as long as they don't bring back those lime green jerseys again.}

Bumping thread time.

Kentucky Wildcats are now NCAA champions, beating Kansas 67-59. As tough as Kansas played, there was no way that Kentucky, and more specifically, Calipari was going to be denied this time. And let's be honest, it's nice to see that the best team throughout the season actually wins the title for once.

I hate this Earth Hour crap that these enviromentalists do every year. Response to: Generally bad anime. Posted April 1st, 2012 in General

I get that the big 3 shonen anime out there, One Piece, Bleach and Naruto are at the very least, heavily flawed and plenty of justifiable reasons why they are bad, but one anime that is possibly worse than those would have to be FLCL.

I know that I'll get a lot of heat for this, but FLCL has got to be one of the worst animes I've have ever seen. Not only did it have any plot with it whatsoever, but I thought that a lot of the jokes in it are stupid and the characters are as 1-dimensional and pedantic as they can get. Why this show is so popular with anime fans really does baffle me.

While I'm not a big fan of sports games being released every year, {who isn't?} it doesn't mean that some of them aren't good games. {see NHL '09 as an example.} I would imagine the reason why people would play sports games is pretty much the same reasoning for others liking the fighting, RPG or any other genre, they think it's enjoyable.

Personally, when I get any yearly sports game, I usually wait at least 2-3 years before I get another one in that franchise, considering they don't change a lot of things with the game itself apart from graphics and roster updates.

A for effort on the pastor's part trying to relate to his congregation, and to make church sermons a little less torturous to listen to over and over again. But when you have to put a stripper pole to a house of worship, you just know you're appealing to the lowest common denominator, just to put asses in pews and eyes on the Good Book. It is what it is.

I hope the men get plenty of dollar bills, because what money goes on the stripper's G-string goes to charity, but it's still better than passing a collection plate, that's for sure.

Lol wut?

It's March. Anything can happen bud.

9 times out of 10, that Cinderella stuff usually stops after the Sweet 16. I can't really see any team now that can hang with Kentucky now, and the only way that they will lose is if they simply don't show up. And before you bring up Indiana and Vandy, I remind you that it took a lucky buzzer beater shot by Indiana to beat the Wildcats the first time that they played, and I don't think that they cared about winning the SEC championship as much as winning the NCAA championship.

Let's face it, the only team that could compete with Kentucky on an even playing field is North Carolina, and they lost in the Elite Eight. As I said, the Wildcats can only lose if they simply don't show up, {that's most likely not going to happen.} either that or if the refs are quick with the fouls against the Wildcats.

To be honest, I'm actually happy with Microsoft not releasing their new console this year, {or maybe next year as well.} considering how the 360 is still doing pretty well even now. They shouldn't be caving in to the pressure of Nintendo and Sony releasing consoles, {Wii U and PS Vita respectfully.} by releasing a new console this year, probably due to what happen when the first 360s came out with a laundry list of problems with it.

I guess their strategy is to squeeze out as much as possible with the 360, like they were doing with the PS2, and then once it officially dries up, then they can go ahead with their new console, whether or not it's a wise move on their part is up for debate, but I still say it's a good move on their part.

Response to: Batman is stupid and not even a Posted March 27th, 2012 in General

Well let's see here, the Gotham police force is constantly overwhelmed by super villans like the Joker, The Riddler and Killer Croc among a shitload of others that they have to deal with everytime, someone like Batman who uses his wits and gadgets against them really helps out a lot. Considering that he is traumatized by his parents death even in adulthood, naturally he would still have some animosity with the criminals out there, and does everything in his power to stop them.

Oh, and here's the kicker, He doesn't kill anyone, {because he's a DC hero} just beat the crap out of them. {probably why the Joker and others are constantly on the loose.} Compare that to The Punisher who would simply kill them as soon as he sees them, often in brutal fashion.

I wouldn't say that the COD franchise is dying, as much as it is stagnating off of its success. After the fiasco with West and Zampella after the release of MW2, there seems to be a decline in quality with Black Ops and MW3, {though both games were pretty good IMO.} particularly when Treyarch took much of the control along with a re-tooled IW crew. Considering that Bowling stuck around after the metaphorical fallout of the firing of West and Zampella and all of the Activision hate that sprang up soon after that, I would probably imagine that he decided to leave on his own terms and with no blowback or controversy on Activision's part.

As for the franchise, it will be mostly under Treyarch's control along with IW and Sledgehammer Games providing some assistance in the future. But considering the history of Treyarch as a game developer, COD is most likely going to have an up-and-down future at best.

Response to: Rage quitters? Posted March 26th, 2012 in Video Games

Every time I play online, there is always a group of rage quitters out there that pretty much quit as soon as they start losing in the rankings or whatever, and in all honesty, that's exactly what I would want the opponent to do. {now if they were on my team, that's a different story.} I wouldn't imagine that he/she would take a massive ass kicking over and over again, so naturally they would rage quit as soon as they go south in an attempt to save face, which more often than not, they don't.

About the only time that rage quitting would be justified is if the opponent is constantly using cheap tactics and gang attacks on a certain player, in which there would be no reason to play, because they wouldn't be able to get into the action for very long, which would be a tremendous waste of time if they spent more time respawning or waiting in the lobby. Either you fight fair or don't fight at all, but of course not too many people will do just that because unlike rage quitting, there is no real punishment for "pwning" someone over and over again.

Response to: Scotland Seceding the UK Posted March 26th, 2012 in Politics

I don't really see Scotland seceding from the UK, even with the ever present resentment that some Scots have with the English, Welsh or what have you over the last 800 years or so. Pretty much the closest example we have in my side of the world would be Puerto Rico, which is a U.S. commonwealth, and so many times, they shot down any legislation on breaking away from the U.S. or become a state within the Union.

Another example would be Texas, considering that after the Mexican war, Texas was a independent republic for nearly 10 years, but due to crippling poverty, they had to join the Union in 1845. Many times before, there has always been clamor from both people and politicians within the state that wanted to break away from the union and return to their old republic, most of it was largely nothing more than saber-rattling though, even with an economy and infrastructure that would rival many other countries on its own.

Sanchez hasn't necessarily been given enough time to adjust to being a more central role, and most people really doubt his potential as a franchise quarterback. With Tebow on the roster, Sanchez will have to prove he's starting QB material (though he'll probably start next season regardless of his performance during training camp, unless he plays particularly horrid).

I think it's rather easy for Sanchez to beat Tim Tebow in practice, although I certainly wouldn't have either of these QBs as my starter, the thing is that as soon as Sanchez screws up, then Tebow is going to come in, but unlike in Denver, he will not be able to get away with being inaccurate for 3 quarters, not when teams like the Patriots would run circles around them on offense. Most likely, this will end in disaster because they have to rotate QBs over and over whenever one of them plays bad.

This is always been my problem with the Jets. They keep going after 2nd rate piecemeal parts, retreads {particularly at WR} and trades that will land them on the back page instead of going with something more logical. What makes it worse is that Rex Ryan has to blab about going to the Super Bowl every year, despite having a roster that's really less talented than teams like the Bengals or Chargers, it's no wonder why the Giants did what the Jets couldn't do the last couple of years, win a Super Bowl.

Response to: Who won the ww2? Posted March 25th, 2012 in Politics

Really, I can't understand why people are still arguing over who won WW2, because everyone has to waive their dicks around about how many troops one country sent in or who did what. Last time I checked, the Allies won, and if you want to get into specifics, well, here ya go.

Western Front {Europe}: Early on, it was a war of wills between Britain and Nazi Germany, which the Brits ultimately "won". After the battle of Britain, Hitler went to invade Russia, which got them involved in the war, and after a shitload of fighting, the Russians got the upper hand and were the first to get to Berlin. I guess you can say that Britain and Russia won the Western Front, with a rather helpful assist to the Americans, starting with the North African front.

Eastern Front {Asia}: The vast majority of the credit has to go to the Americans, because while the rest of the allies declared war on Japan at certain times during the war, only America and Japan were the main combatants in the Pacific, and everyone else only played a small part. I think we all know what happens from there.

WW2 was largely a production war. Whatever technological advancements that the Germans or even the Japanese had against the Allies were negated by America's production of tanks, boats and what have you, {and to a smaller extent Britain's and Russia's as well.} The nation that landed the proverbial final deathblow on the Axis isn't as important as the sum total of the war effort by the Allies.

It sucks that MY favorite franchises are going into obscurity all because EVERYONE wants the same piece o' crap shooter.

Just because you like a certain game franchise doesn't mean that everyone else is going to like it. For all we know, there is a reason why your favorite franchises are obscure. Contrary to popular opinion from hipsters, not all shooters are the same, they may be similar in nature, but that doesn't mean that they are all carbon copies of each other.

I sense jealousy on your part.

Subjective opinion noted. Don't come crying to me when your favorite franchise gets a clunker game somewhere down the line, and becomes irrelevant. Response to: Your Stance on Suicide? Posted March 23rd, 2012 in General

I've noticed that some people use words like selfish, cowardly when it comes to suicide, and that argument is really nothing more than shortsighted, knee-jerk reactions to a negative event. People need to realize that not all suicides should be treated the same way, and to think otherwise is pretty myopic.

For example, the samurai in Japan who were dishonored by their masters for whatever reason would normally commit seppaku, which is part of the Bushido code that some people in Japan use even today. Would you consider those samurai who served their masters but had a screw-up somewhere and committed ritual suicide cowardly? Or how about a prisoner who is serving life without parole for killing 3 or 4 people in cold blood? Even if they do attempt to change their lives, in the sheer scope of things, it's practically worthless to the rest of us, considering that he or she will never be able to use their skills on the outside world. Outside of their family and close friends, do you think that the rest of the world would care if a lifer inmate commits suicide? The obvious answer is no.

The point I'm trying to get across is that suicide isn't as black and white as it seems. If people can step into their shoes and deal with the problems {both physical and emotional/mental} that these people face, then maybe you would have a different view on it. Don't take all suicides at face value, read the fine print before making a rash judgement.

That's always been the biggest problem with the Bengals is Mike Brown. It's not necessarily the fact that he is cheap, because owners like the Rooney's have historically been cheap when it comes to free agents, but more so, he has a bad eye for talent in terms of team chemistry. In recent years, he has been the only owner that I know of that would be willing to take a flyer on players that either had rap sheets {Pacman Jones, Tank Johnson} or allegedly ruined locker rooms, {T.O.} which pretty much made us a carbon copy of the Oakland Raiders under Al Davis. {unfortunately without playoff wins to go with it.}

To be fair, the Bengals did sign the law firm, BenJarvis Green-Ellis to replace Benson who's played pretty good in New England, and with our recent history of having good drafts, maybe this time we can get over the hump and get another winning season under our belts. Although, to be honest, it wouldn't kill Mike Brown to splash the cash on a talented free agent once in a while, preferably one without a rap sheet attached. *cough* Mike Wallace. *cough*

What I meant to say was these series need to take a LONG (preferably a decade), LONG break.

So your insisting that franchises like Battlefield and Call of Duty take a decade long break before their next game? Yeah, that's just stupid right off the bat. A year or 2, I would get, but you can't just put a money making franchise on the shelf and expect to succeed. About the only successful game that did that would be Fallout 3, everything else has largely faded into obscurity.

That way, more original IPs can have a chance to become newer and potentially BETTER franchises.

That is, only if they succeed. Everyone seems to forget that that publishers and game studios are for-profit businesses, and it just so happens that they get a lot of people buying their games. {if the game is any good.} Remember, it's just as important for the game to sell well as it is to making it playable, pleasing to the eye and whatnot.

I hate the thought that another Call of Duty is coming out next year. It sickens me to no end that developers care nothing for creativity anymore,

Here's a simple thought, if you don't like it, then don't bother. It's not like anyone is forcing you to play these games, and it's not like these are the only games that they release every year, contrary to what all of the hipsters want you to think. I mean, Nintendo is milking the Pokemon games for all it worth, considering it's virtually the same thing every generation, and I don't hear too many people bitching about that.

save for Indie Developers, and that's sad.

I would slow down with the indie developer love if I were you. For every indie game like Braid, there are at least 10 to 15 games that range from mediocre to utter crap, and most of them end up on the Wii or DS. Even with that, some of them do sell at a pretty good rate, which is baffling to say the least. Remember Sturgeon's Law, about 80% or so of anything is going to be crap.

Screw Call of Duty, screw Battlefield and screw HALO. They all need to take a SUPER LONG break.

So in other words, you want to take a good chunk of the profits and fanbase of the gaming community just to satisfy your needs? You either need to open your eyes when it comes to gaming, or take a crash course in marketing, and realize that franchises like COD and Halo are here to stay.

Response to: Your favorite fighting series? Posted March 21st, 2012 in Video Games

About the only 2 fighting series that I like outright is BlazBlue and Samurai Shodown {Spirits}. BlazBlue might have the most unique storyline in a fighting game I've ever played, and what's most impressive about it is that they don't skimp on anything, characters and all. As for Samurai Shodown, think of it as an arcade version of Bushido Blade, just without that annoying Bushido code added in, and in most of them, they're hard as hell to beat.

As for the rest, {Street Fighter, MK, etc.} I might like some of the games on an individual level, but there are always a few games in their franchises that are definite clunkers.
