Problem is that nobody really opting for other options, and not thinking ahead.
It's true that we need oil NOW-- but deregulating it does nothing to fix the problem. And heck, look at what deregulation is doing-- even if the government wants to step in, the oil industry are pushing back saying that they'll fix the problem.

The way I see it, it's damned if we do, damned if we don't. We need a lot of oil to fuel our cars and keep us warm during the winter, not to mention a lot of products are oil-based in some way, so the oil giants really got us by the balls on this one, but without them, what other energy source is there for millions of cars, trucks, boats, etc. and even for our homes with heat, electricity, and so on. Basically, a lucky few will have the power, while most of us who don't have solar panels, wind turbines or electric engines will be shit out of luck.

The solution is to use oil now, WHILE looking for a way to transition to a life that doesn't use so much oil. And it's a fact at this point because oil isn't a renewable resource. But politicians continue to stop measures and funding to research for renewable energy resources... we might as well starve to death in the very end.

While I think you maybe being a tad glib in your statement, I do share a lot of the concerns you do have on this situation. Maybe when the politicians realize that even they have to pay $4+ a gallon of gas for their Land Rovers and Excursions, then they will do something about it. I highly doubt that will happen though.

Speaking of which NG, Do you think we'll see gas prices around $4+ a gallon soon due to the spill, and in turn, make everything more expensive again?

I really don't know what do you watch, but here are 3 off the top of my head.

Black Cat, one of the few shonen anime that avoids many of the pitfalls of a "Shonen Jump" anime, i.e. no fillers, non-stereotypical storyline, character development that is deep, etc.

Ninja Scroll, I'm fairly sure everyone knows about it, but it's worth another go through.

Eyeshield 21 is also pretty good, if your into American Football and what not. It is a great story and doesn't have a lot of stereotypical anime cliches that seems to bog down some animes into a point where I get sick of watching them.

Hope this helps.

Response to: What Do You Think Of Glenn Beck? Posted May 27th, 2010 in General

In all honesty, I hate him alot, but not as much as Lou Dobbs, Bill O'Reilly or Hannity.

Sometimes, he does have some good points about certain issues, other times however, he tends to be a smart-ass and a Tea Party plugger with nothing more than an agenda. {Then again, what newscaster on Fox News, MSNBC, CBS, etc. doesn't have one?} Speaking of Fox News, I still believe it is the worst news channel, especially when they think that Bush during his time in office was far superior to Clinton or any other Democrat for that matter, MSNBC is a close 2nd.

Back on track here, as I said about Beck, I hate him, but he does have his good points and he doesn't sound like a stuffy hardass like Hannity or O'Reilly. If he wasn't so far-right and Pro-tea party, he would actully be the only sane guy on FNC, but that is really a hard thing to do, if not impossible.

I will agree with you about Iraq, although from the looks of things, it seems to have stablized more than expected. I can agree that in a war, you have to stand against each other and defend your nation, but don't fool yourself calling those who oppose you monsters and assholes and label your troups as heroes.

I may have be a bit harsh when I called the Taliban/Al queda monsters, but looking at their track record, {9/11, 2003 train bombings in Madrid, 2005 attacks in London, etc.}, Everywhere they went, ordianry people lost their lives, for a extremist, backward idealogy that craves fear and panic. Militaristic to a degree, we have enemies on both sides of the globe, and don't like outsiders telling us what to do.

History?

In the year 2018, During the reign of the evil Chucky Z, a small band of Britannian, Irish and some other rebel groups form the Republic Army of Britannia, designed to destroy the ruling noblity that was choking the life of our great nation. The 3 colors of our flag, orange, black and white represents the founders of the RAB, Me, an Abe Lincoln robot clone, and a man known as Mr. Lamperouge, Also the first and considered permanent ruler {as a figurehead} of our Republic. After his requiem was complete, however, a massive void in the leadership position sparked Civil War between Loyalists, and the RAB. Long story short, the RAB won and burned down the old capital, Pendragon to the ground, and built a new capital in a different city called Neo Chicago.

We are a nation that flows with the stream of progress, and have a hands-off apporach with religion, assembly, speech and gun control, However we do not tolerate terrorism of any kind in our country and will swiftly deal with them in a efficent manner. We also have international influence and wish for better cooperation between other powerful nations, as of now however, we are on our guard against those who would destroy everything we worked hard on for years. December 6th is a national holiday, much like July 4th is with Americans, and we celebrate Mr. Lamperouge's birthday with feasting, fireworks and the singing of our national anthem,"Long Live Our Republic"which may be somewhat similar to the USSR's anthem, but with different lyrics.

Any characters mentioned in this story is true to historal fact, any names of characters or names of countries that are similar to a TV show I won't mention is, considered a coincendence and has nothing to do with the story.

Shonen Jump has a huge influence, not only in Japan, but throughout the world, so chances are, if one anime creator/director creates a mega-hit {Naruto}, another one will be coming in fresh off the studio to our TVs and DVDs, {Bleach.}

None of these seem to be taking many risky, innovative material. The zombie fiction anime seems intriguing to me though.

I would agree with you somewhat, but the general demograpic for anime for most places outside Japan is around 13 to just below 30. Although series like Hellsing and Monster are able to attract some of the younger demograpic, even if it is generally filled with gore and sexual references.

That was no accident, OBL and Al queda, along with the Taliban, attacked us and killed 3,000 people, and destroyed 2 towers, part of the Pentagon and created a hole in Pennslyania. And for us to do nothing would simply encourage them to attack us in other ways until we litterly begged for forgiveness.

Gulf Oil Spill. Posted May 21st, 2010 in Politics

It has been a month now and no one had mention this before, so I'll take up on this situation. If you haven't heard by now, there was a massive oil spill around the coast of Louisiana caused by a break in the underwater pipes of BP's massive oil rigs, and from the looks of things, it seems to spreading across the gulf, not only affecting the lifeforms across the gulf, but potentially destroying a fragile gulf-coast economy that was just beginning to recover from Hurricane Katrina.

I also believe from an energy standpoint, this is more ammo against Big Oil, and more for renewable resources, considering that the United States is currently addicted to oil and renewable resources, {wind, solar, etc.} seem to be in the early stages as of today. Obviously, breaking our addiction isn't going to be easy, but with this disaster, something needs to be done.

Finally, What do you thing Barack Obama should do about BP? If I was Obama, I would make sure that not only BP should take all the heat for this disaster, but they should foot the bill for the spill and the cleanup ahead. Of course, that will probably not happen, and give BP a slap on the wrist, while we end up footing the bill here with taxpayer's expense.

All and All, what are your thoughts, NG?

If you knew exactly how they were made and what kind of chemicals go into them, like growth hormones, I bet you'd think otherwise. Same with their exact living conditions, unless you don't care about animal rights. Read Fast Food Nation and watch Super Size Me. They give plenty of insight. There's a special feature on the Super Size Me DVD that compares how McDonald's food breaks down on its own versus food from a regular restaurant. I have to wonder what exactly McDonald's puts in their fries in order to keep them from breaking down for so long.

Holy shit, McDonalds are like the evilest bastards to walk the earth, OMFG.

But in all seriousness, I have seen Super Size Me, and generally it is nothing more than some wannabe liberal jackass who thinks that McDonalds is evil because they offer burgers and fries to hungry customers. Yes, I am well aware that Mickey D's isn't exactly 100% organic in any of its food, but they way you say about growth hormones and shit, It sounds like you're accusing them of chemical warfare.

Are you saying you are against making food cheaper and more available to those with less income?

It seems to me that you're against making food cheaper, or your argument is somewhat misguided.

Um, eating fast food on a daily or weekly basis is not a way to stay healthy. It can be dangerous, even causing death.

No shit, Captain Obvious! How long did it take you to find that out?

That should be common sense. In the US, obesity and being overweight is the second leading preventable cause of death, with smoking as number one. Poor people should not eat it that much. There are alternatives, like shelters that serve healthy food.

I'm trying not to be a jerk here, but your claims are largely based off of opinions and second-hand knowledge. If you are going after something like Mickey D's or something, try to use facts in your argument instead of trying to sound like a moral hardass with your opinions. Response to: Your thoughts on Death Penalty Posted May 19th, 2010 in General

I am for Capital Punishment, A.K.A. the death penalty, but not without some changes.

1. Make sure that the criminal is truly guilty of the crime, sometimes it's easier said than done, but this will reduce if not eliminate killing the wrong man. Make sure that all the evidence is tied to the criminal and to the crime itself.

2. Limit the Appeals to 1 per criminal, the general reason why death row inmates don't take a dirt nap right after the guility conviction is because the lawyers find many ways to appeal the conviction, which in turn allows the bastard to live among the regular prison population at taxpayer's expense for 5 to even up to 30 years before he/she faces "Old Sparky."

3. Use a more efficent killer for execution, bullets. Think of all the money they would save if they used a simple method of "Two in the chest, one in the head.", compared to lethal injection, where chemicals would have to brought to the facility and other such steps to ensure the muderous bastard's death.

4. There should be three crimes that should be considered "Capital Punishment"
Murder
Child Rape
High Treason
and speaking of which, all 50 states should have the death penalty at least as an option, for murderers and child rapists. Of course in Texas, you kill somebody in cold blood, more than likely, you'll be sentanced to death anyway.
