It needs to wind down before it ends, other than that it is good. (Yes I know it is a loop.)

Response to: Drawing a sword Posted October 10th, 2009 in Game Development

Either use line tool or zoom in to 130+ % and draw it with the brush tool. Zooming makes it look smoother when zoomed out, and you don't have to deal with the annoying auto smoother that flash gives. It can make a straight line curved and vice versa....

Remember to make effects when the sword is in action, it looks a lot cooler.
Example:
Ghost fight

Not totally correct. You need one of your submissions to be on the front page.

I'm confused, I have no idea how to draw or animate good on flash please help *laughing and some rolling action on the dirty floor* but seriously I'm so pissed at it XD.

Anyway, we can't help you to draw better, it takes years of practice and study. You can't animate until you draw something. So draw a circle on the next frame draw it a tad to the left, and repeat. Or use a tween to do the exact same thing.

If you don't know what a tween or frame is google it or look for a tutorial on here. There are plenty.

Response to: Adobe flash CS5! Posted September 27th, 2009 in Game Development

Paperbag why would you submit non-serious crap to the portal? It just shows that you can't make anything good.

Tweening isn't something you should use often, if ever. Therefor it is still useless.

And of course they kept people from the Macromedia team, but it doesn't show much in the program.

Coming out with a few new features every year is dumb. I don't see how they expect us to pay 700 dollars every year.

Response to: Looking to start making flashes :) Posted September 26th, 2009 in Game Development

Don't do that!!!! Get somebody who is in college to give you there ID and grade reports so you can get it for like 200-300 dollars less at an academic media company.

Also, I'm pretty sure your post can get you banned ^^^

I will take a picture of my Adobe Creative Suit 4 box if that is what you need for proof I did not steal it.

Response to: Adobe flash CS5! Posted September 26th, 2009 in Game Development

Ok paperbag so your telling us to shutup and stop whining when you are whining yourself about us whining?
CS4 Bone tool is pretty useless imo, and CS4 crashes all the time on semi-decent computers, you have to have top of the line, which a lot of people don't have.
Age really doesn't matter. 13 and 14 year olds have made better crap than you.

I also gave CS4 a chance, and I just didn't like it. And a lot of people agree with me.
Macromedia did a way better job, and the program wasn't totally dull and gray. Really, why would you make all your programs gray? It looks terrible.

Response to: Adobe flash CS5! Posted September 26th, 2009 in Game Development

Ya really big deal. What do animators get? Nothing. Flash is slowly becoming a programming tool than animating. Flash 8 was great for animating, CS3 and CS4 lack a few elements and ease, CS5 now has a built in game maker.

Oh, and a bunch of noobs will make games with that code and the portal will die. (exaggeration...maybe.)

Mostly true, the jerks :) Anyway nobody can teach you to animate past draw a picture, then draw another on the next frame, it's skill and perseverance. Make small things, a walking cycle, a background, a river flowing, etc. Then put it into one, a guy walking down your background, and then the river is his destination idk. Then after you get those things you can make a real piece. (keep in mind post its, a ball on one post it that moves gradually, frame by frame.)

Response to: Creating A Website. Posted September 20th, 2009 in Game Development

Guys this isn't about domains and stuff but a cover up like .co.uk is free, but individual links Ex:
me.freewebs.com/animations would be itself and not .co.uk and if the user types in .co.uk the url will be .co.uk all the time so they can't copy and paste a direct URL. It's a hassle and not worth it. 2-10 dollars a month for a basic-good website host isn't much. You pay more for WOW.

On subject, it looks pretty good. It's kind of devoid of color and the image is only semi decent but other than that I like it.

Response to: Madness Day '09 Question Posted September 20th, 2009 in Game Development

Just the background in the preloader will do it. Maybe add in the authors comments it's an official '09 submission if you want to.

Anyway you might want to submit before the 21 cuz thats when the big guns will start submitting, especially the 22.

Not really. I would scrap it. It's too hard even for those that like hard games (me) and it's too simple. No upgrades or achievements, graphics aren't all that great and I can't move back and forth which would be cool, especially with wider screen and v cam.

Response to: Eequipment for voice work Posted September 19th, 2009 in Game Development

If you have the cash get Soundbooth CS4 as well. A lot of the CS4 stuff is pretty crappy (Flash...) but this is a great program. I can do ten times more stuff with it, with my music and voicing, but otherwise, as previously stated, Audacity does the simple editing just fine.

Practice. Make small tidbits like a river flowing, or a walk cycle, then a run cycle, then a jump cycle, then a fight scene, then make some backgrounds, then some special effects like explosions. All of which have tutorials here on NG.

Until he learns enough from us to make his own stuff ;) jk.

Anyway, I was going to join Tribute collab but then I backed out for a few reasons concerning the idea and people that were joining.

But I like this idea a lot better so I will join and not back out.
I have two ideas at the moment so I will probably make two parts.

You should extend the deadline, I only have parts of Friday, Saturday and Sunday to work which doesn't leave a lot of time to make a decent short.
All major collabs took a lot longer than a month.

I'll have a rough outline for the first in a couple weeks, no more.

There really isn't a tutorial for all of those things, but what I would do is get a good base for movement and ground then get extras from a different tutorial and tweek the instance names and stuff so it matches the base. You wouldn't really need to understand much do this, but the more you understand the better.
