Seriously.
Thanks for the update, Bahamut.
I, too, was a little disappointed with Clock Day this year, especially since I actually bothered to get on NG for the first time in months. Seems like the volume and the quality of submissions was way down from previous years -- which is amazing because I really thought the quality of Clock Day spam submissions couldn't get any worse.
Oh well. I showed up, and did my part, and can now go on hiatus for another year. Woot.
If anyone found anything really hilarious among the Clock Day mess, I'd be grateful for a link. I need a good laugh.
Tried to place an order but the server keeps timing out after I enter the address information. It waits about a minute and then goes to a blank screen. This is probably a sign that I shouldn't be spending money that I really don't have, but I figured you should know that the server is unhappy, anyway.

Haha, yeah, talk about timing. I post to NG twice a week, if that, so wouldn't it just figure that it'd be in the middle of Bahamut's post, right?
Oops.
Thanks for the update. Sorry for splitting your post in two... I had no idea you'd started the update when I posted. :( I'd be grateful if a mod would delete that, actually.

I was barely online this week, and it shows. Doesn't matter, though; any lead I would have held on to would be erased in December, as I'll be out of the country and mostly offline for four months. I'll be surprised if I come back and am still in the top 100, honestly.

LOL, nice job. Also, congrats on passing me up this week... I put up a fight for a couple of weeks, but this week was basically a write-off, so I deserved to be passed.

Idiot-Finder displaces Omgee during a heated battle for the top 50. I'm so glad I'm past that for the forseeable future.
Oh. Well. Hm. Okay. About that.

It depends on the state. Here, it's done by both license records and voters registration... so I was already on the list for jury duty before I registered to vote. :(

At 8/16/08 04:26 PM, NEVR wrote: And yeah, there's nothing wrong with having one day of crazy spamming fun.
Plus, there are always at least a few really good Clock flashes buried in the mess. Part of the fun for me is hunting them down and finding them before they hit the collections. It did seem like this year was more about spam and less about actual Clock films, but there were a few gems in the pile still, and it was still pretty funny to see all of that blue and green on the portal.
Also, it seems to me like the portal's returned to normal relatively quickly this time around... it's been relatively quiet today, and I've seen a few 0.5k "OMG L8 CLOK DAY BBBBB" movies go straight to the graveyard this afternoon. I actually picked up a few blam points on movies that probably would have passed before Clock Day. Last year, it took a few days before things calmed down, but this year things seem to have stabilized a bit faster.
I'm still in Mexico and mostly offline, but I actually managed to be around today for a while. I didn't pull an all-day Clock movie marathon this time, but I got on enough from work and this evening from my apartment on a borrowed laptop to pull in more BPs than I have for the entire summer. Probably won't be enough to fend off the rest of you BP-crazy clowns or make any rank gains (unless someone ahead of me no-showed today; I haven't checked), but at least I was able to show some numbers for the week for a change.
But yeah, happy Clock Day, y'all.
Happy Clock Day. Kind of a bummer that I'm really busy and won't be able to watch very much of the stuff that hits the portal this time around, but at least I'll be able to catch the good stuff on the collection page later. Thanks for that, BTW.

Not a bad gain for the week, considering how little I've been around.
This next update will be the last one where I have any BP gain at all until the end of July. I'll be in Mexico, and as tempted as I am to bring my laptop with me, I think I'll try to find better things to do while I'm there than BP my summer away. Plenty of time for that when I get back, anyway.
So, congratulations to everyone who will pass me while I'm gone, too... and congrats in advance to Coop83, who will most likely pass DoD while I'm away.
LOL

Move on. Don't try to explain, don't try to "fix" things with her, don't try to do anything with her. She's a rude bitch. Go with the backup, who's nicer and probably shouldn't have been your backup in the first place.

Yeah, "I Wanna Dance" is the one she decided to cover. I couldn't believe it, either. The Cyndi Lauper song is "Time After Time," which has been ruined by so many other people that it's not even really Cyndi's song anymore, but the Whitney (and Belinda) covers are just insults.
But, hey, maybe it'll make some kids buy some deodorant, righ?
Ha, oh, and the name of the CD is "OMG! Jams." Bleah.
At 6/3/08 11:55 PM, reveihca wrote: hope she doesn't cover any more songs.
Apparently this is all part of a deodorant promotion. She's covered Belinda Carlisle, Cyndi Lauper and Whitney Houson so far. Oh, and Pat Benetar. And Rick. Link.
Sigh.
At 6/3/08 11:47 PM, reveihca wrote: She's a mediocre actor popular among children and young teenagers, I can't really say I'm surprised. All I want to know is why the hell she would cover a song that came out over twenty years ago and has no relevance to her audience.
Well, the song's plenty relevant. Google "Rick Roll" and you'll see. But her covering it is a travesty. The Rick Roll phenomenon only exists because it *is* a song that came out twenty years ago, and that somehow makes it cool. Her covering it (BADLY) destroys any appeal that the song ever had, now or in the 80s.

Definitely. Or, make her a gift, like an authentic Pube Muppet doll. She'll rue the day she turned you down.
Or, she'll call the police. But either way, you'll make her life interesting.
Yes, that's been brought up recently:

Maybe Mudvayne should remake the song. I might actually listen to it then.
She sounds really bitchy, plus she can't spell. Take her out of your bookmarks, don't write her anymore and go find somebody who's actually worth something. No offense, but this girl sounds like crap. Move on.

I, on the other hand, probably won't be passing anyone in the next two months. Finals are coming up soon, and right after that, I'm leaving the country for six weeks and won't be online at all during that time. I'll be lucky to pick up 100/week between now and when I leave, which won't be enough to pass Stormwarden even if he stands still between now and then. I'll probably drop a few ranks, actually, thanks to EagleRock, AshtonNextGen and maybe Patcoola. S'alright... it's summer, and sunny out, and I've got other stuff to do, like be in Mexico.
Congratulations to everyone who did something significant this week, and thanks to Afro_Stud for keeping the list going for the past little while. You'll be missed.

Geez, I miss semesters. We're on the quarter system out here, which means I still have another month to go. You're lucky to already be done.
Once I go back to school, (graduate school, yepppiiiii!)
... wait, so, you graduated? All of the usual attitudes and crap aside, that's pretty frigging huge, even better than gaining a BP rank or ten. College degree +1. Congratulations! You should buy yourself a laptop to celebrate. Having computer restrictions all summer long is so middle-school.
I am just going to take 12 credit hours and not over-stressing myself.
Ha, "just" twelve semester hours of graduate school will be stress enough, I bet. Enjoy your summer while you can. :|
At 5/12/08 07:05 PM, Metal-Therapy wrote: To clarify this a little bit, I've been making a list from 301 to 500.
Huh. I still think this might be more effort than it's worth, although it's certainly more of a managable project than 300 to 1000, and Afro might have most of your data already, if he's willing to share. It might be interesting to see how movement looks on the next tier down, I guess, and once you get the list going, it would ultimately help Afro, too, if you're any good at finding upcoming names on the radar. I guess I can't agree that this is a terrible idea or a total waste of time, although I do think 300 is probably enough for now. Then again, I'm in the top 100, so of course I'm going to say that.
But, yeah, good luck if you do decide to keep going with it.

Only two months? Wow, then, you're getting off easy. Well, actually, the malls here had stuff up for two full months this last Christmas, but people had stuff up on their houses and in their yards from just past Halloween all the way until the end of January. Either way, anything longer than a month is too much.
And don't get me started on the consumerism crap. Ugh.
This Groundhog Day sounds absolutely ridiculous.
Some famous groundhog comes up out of his hole in the ground, and if he sees his shadow, it means that winter's over. If he doesn't, winter will last until July, right about the time everyone will start putting up their damn Christmas decorations next year.
Or maybe it's the other way around. Whatever.

I'm hoping I'll be able to get my pace up a little over the next few weeks, since I'll be completely offline for six weeks starting the in the middle of June. School being what it is, though, I doubt I'll break 100/week between now and then.
