Hmmmmmm..... Considering that I derived my screen name from a character he plays, I'd say the voice of James Earl Jones is pretty damn inspiring. The deep, rumbley bass of Darth Vader from Star Wars and Omahdon from Flight of Dragons. Not that I can even come CLOSE to imitating him, but in terms of inspirations he'd probably be one of them. Other professional voice actors I find totally awesome are Orson Welles, Cam Clarke and Steve Blum/David Lucas.... Who are all famous for playing evil people. I wonder if there's a connection? Hmmmm!

The Voice Acting Club should be able to help out.

But he can do teen voices better and we all know that so I gave him the other cool voices...I'll tell you the other details through an e-mail.Don't worry :D

Hahaha, thanks for the compliments! :-) And yes, I tend to be better for older characters so if there are any wandring around your flash, I'll probably give those guys a shot.

But anyway that's true Omehdon(?). How did you get your sampler?

In the words of a famous philosophical creature and his response to "Who put BACON in the CHALK???": "I made it myself!". Recorded myself doing a variety of voices and then put them to music. Bingo.

Response to: Voice Acting Club Posted January 17th, 2005 in Clubs & Crews

Foxsphere, download the first link from this page here and the second link from this page here. The site doesn't allow hotlinking, which is why the links sent by Flame Zero don't work. Not exactly my range, but I guess I can pitch up a bit.

Response to: Need A Voice Actor? (Not A Club) Posted January 17th, 2005 in Game Development

Errrrrrr..... Fray, until you get some ACTUAL roles to put on your resume, maybe you shouldn't flash that page around too wildly. It's kinda.... Well, COMPLETELY devoid of content. It doesn't even have a sampler, dude.

For the rest of you folks: http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic.php?id=207423 has the goods ye be needing.

Anyway guys, I'm sorry to anyone who is waiting for lines from me and hasn't gotten them yet. I'm taking a break from VAing for the next day or two because I'm really upset at a lot of flames I've gotten on my VA work, and people telling me I ruin their favorite series and such, sorry if this is an inconvenience to anyone.

Ahhhhhh.... Screw those guys. I got a lot of flak for ruining the voice of Black Mage for the 8-Bit Theater series, but there were an equally large number of people who said they liked my voice. So do it for the people who liked your voice, and if you want to show up those asshats who say you ruin their favourite series, do an even better, more outstanding job of it! Yarr!

Hmmmmm.... I do recall seeing you audition posts around VAA.... Something about a 1950s style "Dad's Always Right!" show? Anyway, the VAA has primarily turned into a site for aspiring ANIME voice actors. This doesn't mean that they aren't talented, they're just pitching their voice towards a certain style because of the fact that MOST of the open auditions on that site are geared towards that end. It can be frustrating if you're looking for the EXACT, RIGHT kind of voice that isn't anime related, but blowing up like this and shooting out random insults at ALL amateur voice actors EVERYWHERE really doesn't help. For one thing, it might just turn off people from even bothering to help out to voice your material (though fortunately in your case it looks like MORE people want to help out now).

You know, instead of complaining about the help you DIDN'T get, I think you should be grateful that anybody wanted to help out at all. Don't develop an attitude problem because you can't get what you want: it's free, and people are doing this in their spare time and for fun. You sound like you want to be the next generation of control freak directors who can control every aspect of their movie. That ain't gonna happen unless you're willing to pay for it pal, and make contacts to boot. And you're going to have problems with the latter if you explode over every setback (little or large). This kind of rage thing you got going on over here just scares people away, yanno.

But whatever.... Sounds like you've given up on the whole voice acting thing and going towards silent movies. More power to you pal, I love seeing some of the music video style flashes they got going here! You do what you feel is best. If you still want to look for help, my samplers are below, feel free to email me if you think I can help.

Interesting idea, but the timing would be an absolute bitch to get. Both for the length of lines, and the mixing of the SFX and music.

What's with half the posts in this topic having "bump!" in them, eh? Maybe the news hasn't filtered as far as the remote island that is the Flash forum.... but "bump!" posts aren't a very good idea. Instead of announcing that you're bumping a thread, you should simply post in a thread with your relevant, on-topic, important voice-actory stuff and not worry about how much time has passed by since it was last posted in. Most of these "bump!" posts are after 2 days of no posting. That ain't a bump. That's continuing a conversation. O_o

THIS REMOTE JUNGLE ISLAND... TRAPPED... OUT OF TIME... scares and confuses me. :::flees:::

Ah, Greg. Still as disturbing pedantic and overly focused on small details as ever! Somewhat comforting but at the same time, very odd indeed.

And, bump. Post your requests for voice actors here! Alternatively post your inclination to voice acting here. Preferably with samples of your voice available. Because there's nothing quite as annoying as reading a post of someone offering to do voice acting but nobody knows if they're male or.... well, they'd most likely be male.... Or if their voice is high pitch or low pitched.... Probably high pitched because most posters here seem to be 13 or 14.... ANYWAY! Point is: post samples of your voice saying something. Like what I have in my sig below. *points to sig below*

Response to: i am teh 1337 voice actor Posted October 20th, 2004 in Game Development

It'd probably be much easier to just APPLY for the hundreds of VA jobs flying around here. You know, emailing them first before they email you? S'what I do. Hanging around saying "I am a voice actor, hire me" rarely works. Well it does. Occasionally. Which is why I also have my shiny samplers in my sig to show what I'm capable of and not waste people's time if they contact me and find out that I don't QUITE have the range to pull off a convincing Princess Toadstool. Sorry folks, I draw the line at female roles. I can sound pretty feminine for a guy, but I don't do pretty princesses.

Response to: Voice Recording problem Posted October 14th, 2004 in Game Development

Use the noise reduction feature on Cool Edit Pro. Record a sample of dead air of about 3 seconds or so before you start recording the actual lines. Go to Noise Reduction, and click on "Get Profile from Selection". Then click close. Then highlight the parts you want to get rid of the noise from and go to Noise Reduction again. Now click OK. That should get right of the hum or most of the background noise.

If the result is a little bit too tinny or something, click undo, go back to Noise Reduction, and fiddle around a bit with the Noise Reduction Level (it's usually set at 100, which may be a bit too high. I always scale back to 90 or so). Hope this helps.

Omahdon, nice work. I must ask, where did you get the background music for your samples?

Thanks. :-) Most of the music come from various games or mp3s I had lying around on my harddrive. In the case of the commercial sampler, I had music from The Sims, Matrix Reloaded, some FPS I can't remember the name of and a J-rock band. For the random voices sampler, the background music is "Tawara" which most people would recognise as the trailer music for Matrix Revolutions.

Oh, and: Bump. I guess at this point this thread is more of a "post your request and someone may look into it" rather than a "post your voice and someone might wanna grab you" kinda thing. O.o

Response to: Find A Voice Actor Thread Posted September 20th, 2004 in Game Development

Woo, this post got pulled under a little in the last couple of days. Though it's almost impossible to actually FIND willing voice actors and/or people asking for said actors in this thread, here's a bump on you, kid.

Elliair_Lel: Thanks for the comments about my voice. :-) I wish I got to do evil laughs more often in Flash. They're so invigorating. A good evil laugh a day keeps the doctor away, doncha know? Or was that apples? I get the two confused....
