People decide to use crappy samples/beats, trumpets, whatever, get real high, and decide it sounds cool and decide to label their music vaporwave and post it on /mu/. Easily disguising their otherwise oblivious attempts at technique, they get away with decent reviews and criticism due to the absurdities in vague definition of genre. It's pretty much the Avant-Garde of electronic music. And yeah I mean real vaporwave should really boil down to liquid dnb with no drums. Doesn't that make more sense?

Well... though I would agree its not an official genre, but it's more of a "modern-age" tribute on the spectacular age of 80's style electronic/easy listening music. I mean come on, the samples you hear are actually derived from actual electro songs from the 80's, with many of the electronic instruments of the time being used in it.
I may have not been born from the 80's, but I've listened to the electronic/easy listening genre back in the early times quite a bit as a kid.

If you were to time-travel back and give these vaporwave albums to people born in the 80's, they would know for sure that there is quite a big hint of their original beautiful classics.

Those "drug-inducing crappy samples" is just something you easily conjure up as a new-age listener, having to associate getting high... somehow. Bob Marley songs is what you're looking for.
VaporWave may sound like a druggie music genre, but only if you think to literally.

Here are some more music pieces that are (actually) considered Vaporwave, and sound incredibly grand!

MACROSS - Anri

MAITRO - SNAKE WAY

SAINT PEPSI - Tell Me

These types of Vaporwave (to me) is a fantastic nostalgic callback to the pop-cultured 80's that was one of the most inspiring and artistic decade, that lead up to our age today. (Loved listening to these when I played GTA: Vice City)

That's my opinion... you whippersnapping young laddie.

What's your opinion on Vaporwave?

Voice Actors Needed For Anime! Posted November 10th, 2014 in Collaboration

Hello guys!

I need 2 male voice actors, (AND POSSIBLY 1 GAL IF ONE MINE IS TOO BUSY)

This is a short teaser for "The Oculus Drift" series.

-MALE- Goon2/Kyle: Your regular, scary, mobster. I prefer a slightly cold/aggressive voice for this role, but not too gruff.
AUDITION LINE: (Pissed) Goon 2: Those monkies tossed grenades all over our fucking turf!

-MALE- Strangler: Head honcho of the "Kink-Klan", the boss of the whole group who had his hideout trashed by the heroes, Script is slightly longer then the other roles, but still pretty short.
AUDITION LINE: (Slightly cheerful) Strangler: Good to do business with you again Deadshot, you're one of the best assassins listed on our Business Contacts.

-FEMALE- Razer: A punk gal who is a royal member to Kink-Klan, a serious gal who's not very talkative. But every word that comes out of her mouth should have a cold-tough-as-nails voice.
AUDITION LINE: (Stern) Razer: They trashed our cars we just pimped out.

I plan to finish this animation in less then 2-3 weeks, and with a short script like this, you could finish your lines in less then an hour!

Simply shoot me your audition line to my email: matyasgombos@yahoo.com
WAV or MP3 is fine by me.

If you want to use Dropbox instead, simply PM me through Newgrounds!

the shipping cost on ebay seems over the roof too! idk. you sure amazon isn't trustworthy? il try and look for local tech stores and see if they have it for cheap (surely not but worth a try)

It's all up to you, I remembered purchasing my old Snowball from Ebay that was brand new, it's too bad one of the Yeti sellers doesn't ship to canada :<

umm just one more question before I make this decision.

now I know ive seen lots of great reviews on the Blue Yeti just recently. but im a big fan of Rice Pirate.

is the Blue Yeti really better overall than the Blue snowball mic?
here are the ones im looking at

http://www.amazon.ca/Blue-Microphones-Yeti-USB-Microphone/dp/B002VA464S/ref=sr_1_1?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1415048732&sr=1-1&keywords=blue+yeti+microphone
and

http://www.amazon.ca/dp/B000EOPQ7E/ref=twister_B00JR4AHA8
it also says "blue yeti pro is better... I probably cant afford it anyways xD my budget is like 150$, and maybe can be stretched to 200

p.s I might be using socks and stuff as filters, cause I heard they can be "required" so, now tell me which is better lol

Hahaha, sorry Sailor! :3
Her agreement tells the truth, it is a far better microphone with sweet specs/features then the Blue Snowball, guaranteed.
I wouldn't be surprised if RicePirate actually upgraded recently.

You can even record in 4 different patterns, Stereo, Omni, Cardioid, and Bi-directional!
(Sorry if its confusing, Google can explain better. But Omni can actually record 2 people on opposite ends, etc etc.)

But here's something even better! There's a way better place to buy it for a cheaper price.

Blue Yeti BLACK Edition - BRAND NEW

Pop-Filter

Trust me, I've always bought from Ebay because they're not only cheap, but they're in perfect, brand new, sealed conditions. These sellers have great reviews.

I hope this helps a bunch good man, please let me know if you have any other questions!

I'm curious though didnt this person audition first? You got to hear the voice BEFORE you paid him?! I would hope so.... otherwise as cold as it may sound that was your own fault then if you just took his word for it then paid him. Lesson learned though hopefully.

I hope you have learned a lesson here though, I am sorry you are out $50 I had a similar issues trying to get my birth certificate for my passport, never got the certificate and cant get a refund so yeah i know your pain -hug-

So if you're familiar with the Soldier's voice and think you could audibly correct this impersonation, email me and I'll email the lines. I paid a good $50 for them (Frankly I was ripped off) and I don't want it to go to waste

Heya Piemations!

I remember watching your "Meet The Amazing" series back a few months ago, had a damn good laugh. Bravo job!

Now as for your VA problem, As much as I hate to say, I cannot edit the Soldier lines to make it sound suitable, neither can I impersonate him (only noted for doing a great Engineer voice)

Unlike musical pieces, converting an actor's unsuitable voice lines in order to even sound a tiny bit identical to their role is HIGHLY/NEAR IMPOSSIBLE, even for master sound editors. (Especially since the Soldier's vocal tone and pitch is very unique)

I understand your bad-day scenario, but there's nothing to be ashamed of by losing money on a crap-tacular voice-actor, (even though I'd consider the voice-actor a criminal)
Many of us Freelancers here on Newgrounds make mistakes, it's a sour experience that helps us learn to be experts.

When you let people audition for your project next time, you'll just have to make sure you know the Voice-Actor actually does well and fit before letting him/her even commit to voicing full script.

Now I do have a solution for your soldier lines, go to the thread below and put up a post stating you need someone to impersonate the Soldier, so that someone much better can redo the lines for you. Many Voice-Actors keeps an eye on this thread, so I know for sure you'll get somebody to help ya out.

If you're short on cash, no worries, here on NG many of us would do projects for free as a hobby/beginner.
But if you're still willing to give a short 5 - 10$ reward for fairness, then even that price would be more than enough.

Just out of curiosity, how long is the 1st part?
I don't mind not getting paid, unless the actors would have to record an incredible amount of dialogue FEATURE-FILM length.

For they would deserve a little more than just being credited, considering we take multiple recordings for 1 line, and we all know that's pretty time-consuming.

I'd honestly prefer to spend little to no cash in getting this done but have something that is mutually beneficial.

Well as I said thanks for stopping by and anything is appreciated!

Audacity is pretty much the best program out there, free and pretty damn easy yet professional to use.

Here! These are tutorials I used to make my voice lines better when editing.

TUTORIAL: Better Render Quality for Audio

A Tutorial from RicePirate that doesn't really have anything to do with editing, but to take these tips into consideration when it comes to very professional auditioning.

RicePirate's Auditioning/Demo Reel Quality How-To

Now to edit a Demo reel using Audacity is very simple,
How I go about doing it which is pretty goddamn easy, is simply record one line at a time (Short phrases/Sentences). If I don't like that certain audio clip, simply delete it and redo immediately. I know its obvious, but its a good thing to keep in mind due to how frustrating it is if you read a line that sounds like shit.
Be careful when it comes to reading paragraphs, if you find yourself out of breath trying to read the whole paragraph which sounds weird replayed, I usually read 2 sentences, stop, then record a new track which continues through the paragraph. Then I click-and-drag the separated sentences together, just keep in mind if you do this method, make it sound like the paragraph flows normally as you start-off the recording.

Before you record the next line, use the "SELECTION TOOL" and click on an empty space after your previous shot. Each new line you record will automatically settle a track below your previous one.

If your lines happen to interject below, (You'll know if you hear both audio tracks being played at the same time) just click-and-drag the line from the bottom to the right using the "TIME SHIFT TOOL".

After you finish recording, I really recommend using the FIRST TUTORIAL LINK I pasted above, not only does it help moderate quality microphone sound better, but this will turn the best quality microphones into true gold.

Now for rendering, by hitting "File > Export" you can choose the different audio formats for your liking.
If you want to render your lines in separate audio files, just go to "File > Export Multiple".

.... thats pretty much all there is to it really.
Or you can just use a Youtube tutorial.

Hope this helps
