Agreed, gradients are out.

You could use face expressions along with body movements.

Hi, i had an idea for a really simple style flash animation, simply made of basic shapes with thick outlines, of all one colour. I started making it and i though, wow, this actually looks cool! However, i don't want to use dialogue because i feel it would spoil the atmosphere. So, how can i make a good story that's entertaining and funny, without dialogue? It needs to be something simple, but good. Basically, what i'm asking is not for you to write me a story, that would be cheating, just some hints, maybe some inspiration? Maybe a thought provoking starter? :D any help? here's the toon btw.

yea that's really cool, and i agree it should be in the authors section, or atleast a bios section. Credits are more just a simple scrolling text thing. But yea i like it, love the hover effects too. Is there a way to stop the music playing again when you go back? becuase i ended up with two instances of the music running at once, it got quite messy. ^^

Is it completely necessary? I have used one once i think, it didn't really help me, i work fine with a mouse, i got a score of 4.18 i think with my newest cartoon using a rollerball mouse :3 but still, can you not just get an equivalent? Does it NEED to be wacom? I have one that works just fine and it wasn't that expensive.

yea i like it better that way too, also, could you create a hover effect? maybe just a change of colour in text? Otherwise some dumb people might not get that it's a menu and just think it's an interactive image if you know what i mean :3 and it's time to write a bio! :D Can we atleast have the sort of shape of the image? will it be square or something? it might look a bit odd if there are loads of different shapes.

I HATE MICROSOFT! *ahem* no really, i do, they rob people's ideas and pass it off as their own, the only reason i use windows is because it's the only damn thing that almost everything is compatible with >:( macs are much better, as is linux, and i highly doubt Silverlight will be better than flash, but it will prey on the people that don't know much about computers, and just think, hmm, Silverlight is new it must be better. and yes, Firefox is much better, infact that's a good example, IE now has tabs, which were stolen from Firefox and other web browsers. Also, you will find many of the effects in Vista were done in Linux a few years ago. Oh how i hate them. Anyway, rant over. I will be faithful to flash and flash alone. Even if NG decides to support Silverlight, which they had better not! Sorry, rant actually over now.

yea, i thought most of them used toonboom. I've always wanted to give that a go, but never got round to it.

Hi, just download the .wav for your part, and you don't have to make it match the words or anything of the music, but it will accompany that part of the song, so make it exactly the same length as the clip. and try not to add sound if possible. for example, my part matches the words of the song, and is the same length of the clip. then put your part into one movieclip on the first frame, name all your library things with your name at the front so it doesn't overwrite other people's and put it on spam the web or email me the .fla after showing the .swf and i will put it in that part of the song. That way it all runs smoothly from one part to the next. Hope that helps :D btw, do we want to do bios?

a lot of the stuff is hand drawn, lots of stuff is done on something similar to toon boom i reckon, i don't think they would use flash. Most stuff is becoming 3D animation now though, but you can create that same style of TV show in flash quite well if that's what you are aiming for :D
