When I do that though all the body parts float in the air...when I move my person across a screen I have to tween the direction of each body part? So in essence it's just a bunch of dismembered limbs floating but giving the illusion of them actually being conjoined? Does that make sense?

Posted: 12/16/08 07:36 AM

Forum: Flash

I'm making this animation right now and I'm extremely new to Flash. I'm taking a hint from the way other animators do things which seems to be making each body part separately so you can move them later...like hands, forearms, biceps, upper leg, lower leg etc etc etc

How exactly do I make them move? I grouped all the movie clips together so it doesn't look like a deformed decapitated mutilated person but he looks normal. I can move whatever image I have grouped together but what if I want to have his upper and lower leg movie clips start to move? This might be really simple but I'm stumped.

I wanna rip some sounds off of computer games and Playstation games and use them in a Flash. . .since I can't find anywhere that will let me download them. What's the best way to rip sounds that get projected from my PC to my speakers (without putting a microphone next to my speakers) and secondly best way to record sounds off my television from when I'm playing games?

Tom why haven't you made a "Tutorial" option for what genre your Flash is? Closest thing I could put for my tutorial was "skill" and I vowed to teach people how to draw WITHOUT skill :/

Please add a Tutorial option since they're very common on Newgrounds to the big list....(I mean jezuz chruzt you have SPAM but not Tutorial?)

Topic: How do you export in Quicktime?

Posted: 09/18/08 05:10 PM

Forum: Flash

I'm trying to export my 5 second flash into a Quicktime .mov for a Youtube intro I'm doing. Although, it exports it horribly. It's a 5 second clip but when it gets exported it turns into 22 seconds where it just kinda sits at the last from for an extra 17 seconds. Also, for a 5 second clip its final megabite size is 22 megs... a bit excessive....I really hate exporting.

I tried exporting in AVI format and it managed to get the file size to a reasonable 1 megabyte...although it lags like crazy when I watch it. I'll open the video and it takes 10 seconds to see the 5 second animation. Super choppy.

Anyone know what's wrong with this?

I've been raping Google for websites that have free sounds. Where do most people get their free sound effects at? I'm looking to piece together a sound effect that sounds like Links taunt from Brawl. Two whiff sounds and then a sword clink. Where is the best place to grab sounds off the internet that most Newgrounders use in their flashes? Is there one real big place? I'm new to animating...

I'm drawing a person right now. I have like 20 different parts of him that will be moving separately...eyes, mouth , eyebrows, feet ankles etc.

Is there any way to tween them to move so they're all in unison? I'm tweening the hands and arm right now but when I move them both to the position I want it to they disjoin in the middle of the animation before they get to the designated area. Any ideas...I'm sure this is way basic and someone can help

Topic: True Frame Limit in Flash 9

Posted: 09/11/08 11:18 PM

Forum: Flash

The frame limit is said to be 16,000 Frames. . .

Is that 16,000 frames for one timeline / movieclip item or for all items in your library that can have frames plus scenes?

I was thinking about starting an ambitious 20 minute Flash but I realized at a high FPS . . . 24FPS and above I can't do that. I'd have to settle for a choppy 12 FPS.

If I were to hit the 16,000 Frame Limit and start a new Scene to get a brand spankin' new time line...would I be able to void the 16,000 Frame limit? Or is that always going to be riding up my ass as an animator with Adobe Flash program?

Do you think if I upgrade to Vista 64 bit that it would help? I think you may be right about the Vista thing...I use to run my Flash on my old XP computer with the WORST specs ever and it ran Flash like a beauty...fast forward to semi-godly laptop + Vista and it sucks the turds straight outta my anus.

Not sure what the hell Vista 64 does but I'm hoping that would be an alternative to going back to XP since some of the specs of my laptop can't work on XP.

Topic: Help - "Program Not Responding"

Posted: 09/09/08 04:25 AM

Forum: Flash

When I'm playing around in Flash whenever I scrub things or drag things the program doesn't respond after a few seconds of me holding onto whatever button I'm holding onto.

Example: I'm scrubbing the timeline to see my animation instead of hitting enter and a few seconds into me scrolling the playhead manually the program goes :Program not responding" everything freezes until I let go of the left mouse button.

Same thing happens when I'm holding onto the mouse button to create a line with the Line tool in a certain direction....the program turns white and says PROGRAM NOT RESPONDING until I let go of the button...does anyone know why this is happening?

My laptop specs are really good....
4 Gigs of RAM
2.50 ghz processor
1024 meg video card

I don't know what's wrong -_-
It makes it a pain to try to animate stuff.

I'm looking for a program to create realistic sounding music / instrumental songs. Realistic drums & guitar...everything really. Piano, horns bells etc.

What is the best program on this list for it? I'm guessing the better the program the more money? Or is that not the case in this situation? What is the BEST program for that on this particular list?

There's not many effects but you will be able to get your audio in and play with the waveforms. Anyways, check out the list.

~SinJim

That's an awesome list ,Sin. I have one problem though...I don't know the lingo they use to distinguish what makes each program different from the other.

What I want to do is create music on my Laptop with different instruments...like horns, pianos guitars drums and have them sound close to the real thing in real life. I'd record real music and add it on my computer to edit or whatever if I knew how to play them ^^;

What I want is a program that supplies me with real sounding instruments that I can create songs with using the tips of my fingers on my laptop console ^^.

The link you gave is great but I can't distinguish what each one does being completely music / editing illiterate. In short what program is the top notch quality in creating music with, pianos , horns , guitars, trumpets etc etc drums. Not limiting to just any of those things but has a wide variety of things to choose from to create instrumental songs on your computer. What's the BEST of those programs if you had to give your opinion?

I wanna dabble in making some music although I like Rock & Metal music more than techno. I hear FL studio is the premiere choice for Newgrounders but the majority of Audio Artists do techno. Is FL studio a more techno sounding program or do they offer a little bit more rock and metal grittyness? I'd like to know what music program would best suit my needs...

Are the Adobe ones any good? I %u2665 Adobe :)

Sometimes text with filters on it gets cut off.. I'm not sure why.

As a last resort, you can break apart the text (ctrl-b), make it into a MovieClip, and apply the filters to that.

Hey, man! Thanks! That did the trick! Lame how Flash will screw over your text files like that <_<

I'm a newb at Flash and I'm not doing anything super fancy to be creating these glitches...but my text sometimes CUTS off at a certain place in my Flashes. This is the second time it's happened and I didn't know how to fix it back then and don't know how to fix it now either.

Here's a picture of the text being almost masked away (no mask in there...just keyframes keyframes and more keyframes...not even any tweening...basic stuff here)

Yeah, I think that's the action I have on my Off button. Although, I need to add an action to my Play button that re-plays the sound after that action you gave me shuts down the last sound so they don't overloop each other and have 2 of the same songs playing at once. etc Not sure if that makes sense

I'm looking to make a Sound On / Sound Off button incase people don't want to hear the music playing in the back of my Tut I'm making.

How do I program the On button to not loop over with the same song if people decide to press it multiple times...

The off button works perfectly and so does the On button to re-jump start the music...only problem is that if they keep pressing it...it will have 100 tracks of the same song playing at once etc etc

How do I make it so that when I hit the PLAY button...it shuts off all sounds then on the next action plays the song again?
