Check here for a MASSIVE list of pretty much every music creation program and it's price and description. Also, if you're just recording stuff you play live, you may be able to get away with just using audacity (it's free hurray). There's not many effects but you will be able to get your audio in and play with the waveforms. Anyways, check out the list.

That's an awesome list ,Sin. I have one problem though...I don't know the lingo they use to distinguish what makes each program different from the other.
What I want to do is create music on my Laptop with different instruments...like horns, pianos guitars drums and have them sound close to the real thing in real life. I'd record real music and add it on my computer to edit or whatever if I knew how to play them ^^;
What I want is a program that supplies me with real sounding instruments that I can create songs with using the tips of my fingers on my laptop console ^^.
The link you gave is great but I can't distinguish what each one does being completely music / editing illiterate. In short what program is the top notch quality in creating music with, pianos , horns , guitars, trumpets etc etc drums. Not limiting to just any of those things but has a wide variety of things to choose from to create instrumental songs on your computer. What's the BEST of those programs if you had to give your opinion?
