This is pretty minor, but I think the helpful/unhelpful buttons on reviews are broken.

It's a bummer, because I'd love to see more videos like this one. Seems like it could really bring traffic to the site. :\

Hey @TomFulp I found a video, is this what Pico Day is like? Because if so I've been quite misinformed.

I really wish I could be there.

We tested on a few different devices and the sound sometimes worked, sometimes didn't. There were a lot of little incompatibility things like that but the gameplay itself seemed to translate flawlessly to the devices we had, which was cool.

Is Unity support on the horizon? I need an excuse to get into that.

What do you mean? Did they put a videostream up in the chat last year? Sounds cool.

Yeah, it was neat. I'd love to see NG do more live broadcasting like they did a few years ago, but I understand the staff's pretty busy.

Or maybe the creative types will always find their way to desktop computers, and everyone else will just keep consuming like most people do already. I can see people using tablets for animation and audio work but it's hard to picture serious programming work or game development ever getting done on one.

This is something I've wondered about too. Everyone's all fired up about desktops and (traditional) laptops becoming obsolete, but I feel like they're just thinking of computers as entertainment devices only.

Im pretty sure this should solve your problem

They already were on integer values, but "anti-alias for animation" actually seems to work. thanks!

Flash font troubles Posted February 21st, 2013 in Game Development

For reference, I'm using Flash CS5.5 and this font.

I'm trying to use a bitmap font for a pixelart game, and the M & W (the widest characters) keep getting cut off on the right side. As you can see in the picture, the font looks fine at 8 pt, but not at 16. And it looks like the antialiasing fixes the problem, but obviously that won't work because it's fuzzy.

Has anyone ever seen anything like this before? It's really driving me nuts.

Response to: NG Passport TEST Posted February 7th, 2013 in General

The first time I tried it, I clicked the cutscene to skip it, then the Passport screen appeared for about a second, and it advanced to the main menu before I could do anything on the Passport screen. But every time since then, it's worked fine.

That's really pretty cool. I've had hit-and-miss results looking for musicians on the forums, hope this helps.

If you ever wanted to expand it, something like this for finding beta testers would be neat too.

If you're going to keep it invite-only for now, maybe you could put a link on the Submit Movie page to request MP4 access? just an idea.

Others were good, but nothing really come close to this masterpiece. Its beyond pro level and totally original and independently made. Its rare quality that you just don't see nearly enough of ANYWHERE on the web.

I have to agree with this one. Lucky Day Forever was incredible.

It's pretty insane to see my game on there. I didn't even think 100% was that great when I made it, the reception was just mind-blowing.

But it won't matter much when we all get destroyed by Abobo.

Response to: Newgrounds video player issues. Posted January 16th, 2013 in Where is / How to?

My friends and I have had trouble with the NG video player too, on various computers. It never seems to buffer the whole video for me.

I hate to say it but if I see the NG video player for something, I just go look the movie up on YouTube and watch it there.

Everyone over here identifies with them in some way, shape or form, and to varying extents. If we take these away, there's not much to know and love anymore, is there?

I agree with this 100%. I would definitely miss Pico Day if it was gone.

On a side note though, it would be neat to have a Jam sort of thing, for ALL types of content (games movies audio art writing) where everyone makes stuff around one theme in a weekend.
