I think its sick that we have an elected official that is supposed to represent the people, but instead he feels its more important to respresent himself and his own beliefs.

As far as marriage, most of my gay friends agree that they dont want to have anything to do with the "religious" or "sanctimonious" parts of marriage, they want the legal rights that go along with marriage. They want to be able to file jointly with their parteners, they want to be able to claim inheritance, overall, they just want to be equal to all the heterosexual couples out there.

I dont understand how we can be in a country that was founded by people who didnt want to be oppressed by government, and then we accept a government that discriminates against homosexuals.

I agree with one of the previous posters when I say that down the line, we are going to see that Bush was the most dangerous and horrid president this country has ever had.

I just wanted to chime in and say that Bright Eyes is AWESOME. I love the Desaparicidos album as well...like bright eyes only heavy. I have seen them in concert and just bought tickets to see them in philly again in april. Check out Cursive and Taking Back Sunday as well.

I was at the philadelphia rally. It was really great, I heard about the NYC one...way to go 500,000 people, philly only had about 10,000 people but still, it was nonviolent, supportive, loud, and HUGE. DROP BUSH, NOT BOMBS!!!

watch out for the schistasomiasis, the schistasomes are parasites that can enter your system through your skin. They live in your anus and come out to lay eggs in the moist area between your legs. I am not trying to be gross, its a real thing that I learned about in my college bio class. My professor was a freak about touching things because he was afraid of it.

anyway, you should not walk around barefoot anyway, I used to do that for years (even attend my classes barefoot, my college professors never forgot me for that reason) but one day I stepped on some metal and got a blood infection, i ignored it for a while until the red line traveled up close to my groin, if they got up any higher, doctors said that the infection would have reached my heart and I could have died, I was in the hospital for 3 days on IV's.

So the moral is, I like stories and dont go barefoot outside.

I think you should just concentrate on graduating school and doing something with yourself. Its fun to screw around in school, but eventually people stop laughing and you find yourself out on the street with no education and no way to achieve the things you want to achieve in life. If you hate school and the beuocracy so much, study hard, graduate, become a lawyer and fight for the rights of students, make some positive changes.

I think a lot of times people just dont realize its crap. I mean if you figure that most people on this site are just starting out with flash, they spend hours on something that we would see as lame, they are going to post it because THEY are proud of it. It may get blammed in 15 seconds, but they can still be proud that they worked on something. or maybe its just for the blam points...what the shit do I know.

My old apartment was haunted.

I lived there for 2 years and I would hear a lot of strange things, find many things moved around, and a lot of times things would be smashed to pieces.

I lived alone which was the scary part, but then my friend Jill moved in for a few months and she was all freaked out too. Its strange because we are both skeptical about these kinds of things being that we are finishing up our masters in the sciences, but we could not deny what we saw while we lived in that building. I am glad to be out of there...I guess it kind of made me into a believer.

The whole "melting pot" idea is no longer supported in america. It was a dumb theory when it was first introduced and it remained that way.

The theory that is more supported now is the "salad bowl" or "fruit bowl" theory. We are a country of many cultures, races, ethnicities and history. We dont "melt" and surrender any of our traits, instead we keep our individuality while absorbing traits from others over generations. So it is very common to find areas such as "chinatown" and "little italy" in any part of the US where these people chose to stay together, keep their own language and traditions, but at the same time slowly adjust to those around them. The "Melting pot" concept has not been used since about 1967.
