it's tough to consider war deaths the same as peacetime death. War deaths are too much to judge. "I was following orders","Unknown Soldiers",mysterious explosions, it's just too hard to manage so that's why death penalty in war is not relative.

I was wondering what's the scoop with China, NK, SK, Japan, and the Indonesian areas, with the the events in the Middle East, the Kashmir...etc I'm open to everything you'd like to talk about :-)

it's just a phase...come now, there needs to be both sides of the spectrum, he's just balancing it out...cut him some slack, it's important to hear different sides from different ages, after all we are the future

Response to: What the hell Canadians? Posted December 24th, 2002 in Politics

George Washington said to beware of entangling alliances, that's why we're so WIIFM(What's In It For Me?) The last thing we've ever done is help nations from the goodness of our heart. America never stood for that. It stood for Locke's beliefs in the practicality of government. It was the first nation to do so and still the most successful. Take that, Canada! ;-) no hard feelings

Israel will always have to fight for its existence, Jews were taught this from the start, i mean imagine after you graduate that you serve in the army as a requirement, that's how it is in the land of milk and honey. Life isn't that sweet though :-(

Response to: HIV and AIDS in Africa Posted December 24th, 2002 in Politics

that's horrible to hear! I mean i heard about the muppet, but that muppet relates to that much of the nation?! Perhaps what they can do, although it's really really really really really desperate is to segregate. IT'S NOT MY FIRST CHOICE!!!!! As wrong as it seems, it could help in the long run, unless the HIV is being spread through unsanitary conditions as well as sexual relations. That's why certain nations did for leprocy, maybe that could help the AIDS epidemic i mean, these people don't want others to feel their pain, right?

Some fun reading..."The Bet" by Anton Chekhov. Twilight Zone did a similar story too, i'm sure you all will enjoy it if you find it online.

i'll tell ya what, do you mind if i change the frame to "What would Clinton do?" lol. Because Bush, who insanely ignored the Middle East for the first 6 months of his presidency, suffered with 9/11, now he will never forget the Middle East as long as he lives...it's a shame but that's our president, Gore would've been worse..

Response to: who's the worst leader? Posted December 24th, 2002 in Politics

you guys would shoot me if i said the Pope, but to be honest one can thank the UN leaders, for supporting the weak european nations into, as usual, appeasing dictators. It's a shame that Western Europe has not recovered from WWII after 50+ years. The Marhsall Plan wasn't enough i suppose. Eastern Europe, between Bosnia, Chechnya, and Russia and the former satellite nations still are recovering after 5-15 years, that's understandable still. However the UN should be a bit more decisive, considering America still holds the reins on the world for the moment...
By the way has the UN even bothered helping Latin and South America which is under similar turmOIL, note the pun...if they have please inform me, i honestly would like to know..
In addition, in Asia, notice how silent China is about everything, even about the Kashmir and who's gonna call the bluff on DPRK...
I know this is all long to digest but if you read this far, thank you for listening to my spectrum of the world, oh how limited it is

Response to: am i the only? Posted December 24th, 2002 in Politics

i'm slightly consevative myself but everyone went into a paradigm shift after 9/11. You could relate as did everyone. Serious changes had to be made compared to what happened in the nineties, especially in the stock market, who knows if history books will call the 90's internet boom the biggest farce since the Roaring 20s!

Response to: The youth in asia! Posted December 24th, 2002 in Politics

I apologize for not being clear enough. By age requirements i meant minimal preferably near 18, then the question becomes how old can one be to declare themselves eligible for euthanasia, especially if one is in a coma or condition that makes s/he unable to make decisions, and costing their family money for life support? If minors are in the hands of their parents/guardians they really don't have a say in their own death. Should it be legal for a child, such as a 7 year old to sign a paper saying that if circumstances provided, to pull the plug? Is it a natural right to die, like life?

It's a shame that in a discussion like this people get personal and call people names. That appears to be more childish? Anyway...

well face it, i never said the strongest people survive, and it wasn't Cynical either. As swayside pointed out the obvious..darwinism isn't just about physical characteristics. However, i'm not demeaning charity organizations for their genuine humanitarian efforts. My issues are similar of yours, that the governments need to feed(As swayside said, create conditions, even in the sahara? ><) and protect their people. However the clash arises when the governments are selfish or ineffective. Are we then only nurturing the main problem? What ideas come to mind when solving such a problem?

i'm tired of this bullcrap!! What is the world supposed to do, socialize food consumption. It's the role of these govts to feed their own damn people! If the land is unarable, then abandon it or irrigate it, it's that friggin simple. If you can't get water, how the hell have these nations survived to begin with. Let's get practical here and let Darwin's teachings continue after they've proven true. The strongest minds survive...

euthanasia is a tough subject, too many variables, but we can limit certain parts of it like age requirements, pain tolerances...etc

Response to: Statement, True or false? Posted December 23rd, 2002 in Politics

True, the role of government is two branches, protect the people from other governments and protect the people from itself..

Response to: Hillary Clinton for President?! Posted December 23rd, 2002 in Politics

consider the following....what if Hillary ran in 2008, and the VP candidate would be no other than Bill Jefferson Clinton. Would you vote for them, knowing that the Clintons would have an executive appeal in the obviously tart legislative branch of govt?

Response to: Does Bush want WW3? Posted December 23rd, 2002 in Politics

The world's a mess because the Arab League has the oil...that's why Europe is acting like wimps and Asia is being "formless"(General Sun-Tzu) as usual. America wants the oil, i don't blame her, it'll solve alot of problems in the world economy. What's 3 weeks of war gonna do to the US economy anyway. Let's just pretend that the US won't steal the Iraqi nukes also, ::wink wink::

I've appeared to have noticed that everyone loves BLAMming all sorts of wild new ideas on the portal. Although there is alot of crap out there, it is not fair to some of the animators that obviously put time and energy into making these and getting 0.34s. Any ideas as to help making this problem better?

Veteran’s Voice

The saxophone plays a familiar melody
I walk the streets examining the faces of others
I recall the time when I was in their position…

It’s the veteran’s voice that guides me now
Eighteen years is enough experience
In order to taste life like alcohol…

I drive home facing the orange lights
A serene atmosphere, I drift
Into the sounds of electronica…

As I watch the moon’s aura diminish
I wonder when I’ll be fully bright
I will have tasted my destiny but never fully accomplished…

This appears to be my goal
Never complete your dreams
The urge and will to succeed is the greatest motivator…

I got out of the car and looked at the sky
So clear and filled with wonder
I turned away and faced my house with despair…

I went inside and collapsed on my bed
The day was over, but continuous
Many more will come, many moons will shine…
