they should be able to adopt, it really doesn't make a difference in the kids life other than how others treat him/her. and that's just middle school bullcrap. Homosexuality is becoming more tolerable in the suburban/urban culture. When it comes to how the children feel sexual preference wise, it's really the kid's choice. Everyone is born half man half woman so it's not like anything is lost by having two parents of the same gender.

i apologize for not responding quicker. The way scientists have determined the role of telomeres is that when you clone any body part, it becomes the age of the stem cells taken. If you are 20 years old and you decide to take some stem cells and cryogenically freeze them, those cells are 20 years old. The telomeres have a longer length to them than they will when you're 50.
Now when you're 50 and you decide you need a new kidney, so you're take those stem cells you froze 30 years back and make a new kidney to transplant, you're in essence, recreating a 20 year old kidney. But you're 50 years old. This incompatability might hold serious risks in metabolism and excretory function. This holds true for all cells of the body. Therefore when these people wanted to transfer brains into clones, wouldn't it be sad to see a 20 year old clone have alzheimers because of an 80 year old brain? Does that clear anything up?

Response to: Cloning Posted December 30th, 2002 in Politics

telomeres are the biological clock of our cells, read what i wrote in the other clone convo

Don't make me use the Hitler cliche...see if you ever saw the movie, "A Beautiful Mind," Nash revises that theory by saying that if you make a decision, it must be the best for you and the best for the group. If someone is an awesome leader, he may not be the best for the world. And in this time in history, the information revolution, we can no longer be isolated by oceans.

I'm yet to hear anyone prove to me why a direct democracy is not feasible. I wish someone would come up with a good argument for that.

people are idiots, that's why the framers of the constitution created the electoral system. You get the representatives to choose the president, your vote doesn't count it's only added to the pool that represents indicatively of how the group decides. If the elector thinks that the people he represents are morons he can choose whoever s/he wants. That's why it works. However, many don't understand this part of the deal since it rarely ever happens. It's just insurance that uninformed or mislead people don't make the wrong choice for our nation, which is what a direct democracy can possibly do.

Shouldn't these people be celebrating these traits year round by actually doing them. Most people in the inner cities (black people included), will never adhere to one of these traits in their normal life.

Yes. Now quit whining about our whining and find a solution, already! Quick! Chop, chop! Yeah, couldn't find one, could you. Because there's NO PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED!

Qoute: "and he represents the vote so most people must feel the same way"

I wish stupidity hurt.

geez your harsh...there seems to be a serious popularity problem with the president at least on this forum, and i was only trying to inspire, and i gave an idea to write a letter to the president telling them your ideas, if you wanted some of mine that would include not making the fight in Iraq become another Vietnam, conserve oil like they did in the 1970s, and to take a Princeton Review Writing Skills class to fix up his grammar. It's pointless of you to assume that i don't have ideas for helping this country. We all have a say in our govt. and even if you think Bush doesn't represent the vote, he got enough to make him the defendant of the majority of the non-floridian nation.

Do you need an aspirin?

Response to: Should Bush invade Iraq? Posted December 29th, 2002 in Politics

last time i checked, we never did anything to help the Middle Eastern GOVERNMENTS between Israel and Afghanistan, didn't we fix up the Japanese govt. after we nuked it twice, and it became a stronger economical nation, and then it weakened...however it never became a threat again, and even to this day in its constitution, article 9 says that Japan will never attack another nation unless in defense. How about we do that to all our foes in the Middle East!

Response to: Did Bush actually say... Posted December 28th, 2002 in Politics

alright seriously, now why on earth are you guys making fun of bush based on what he said...isn't this freedom of speech...and he represents the vote so most people must feel the same way, sorry for the atheists out there... it's just words, and you guys are bitching about words, i mean seriously, instead of dissing the hell out of bush(who i didn't vote for) come up with some solutions instead of being such whiny citizens of this nation. What made us different from other countries was the fact that if we didn't like what was goin on, we have a way to change it!.

How about you write him a letter, or are you afraid he won't read it. My brother sent a letter to Clinton and got a reasonable response back. Surely, if Bush isn't doing his job like you all are saying, he's spending the time reading letters. Take the reins of this country instead of complaining so much about phrases...

Response to: 12/27: Scientist claims human clone Posted December 28th, 2002 in Politics

lol what's the use when the telomeres are life's intangible biological clock...if anyone is unaware of telomeres, they are the tips of your chromosomes, they shorten overtime until you die. Therefore if you were to receive a heart from a 20 year old, you'd receive a 20 year old heart, makes alot of sense right...:-) but these people think they can transfer whole brains into other clones...not so fast!! Not only will their clones have increasingly lower life spans, but the brain will fizzle long before they'd get to like the 2nd clone. The only solution i see to their dilemma is to clone themselves at age 20, use cryogenics, but that will last as long as their brains do hehe.
That's what i loved about the 6th Day. They used some device to clone the memory of the original and transfered it into the clone's brain. Now when they figure out how to do that, who knows what chaos this will all bring! Did you know that 20% of your DNA is actually used by your body? I believe they started a project to help humans grow their tails. Amazing?
