thanks, i'm just getting my name back on the map, i used to post alot in January, but it's a long story
lol sorry, felt guilty leaving everyone hanging the other day for certain topics because i crashed, i guess this makes the problem worse ;)
people take these posts too seriously sometimes...and did anyone answer who Charlie Daniels was?
Funny, he looks like my Physics teacher...
your game was fun, i played it when it first came out. That man is VERY VERY VERY EVIL. He's worse than Saddam, because he's the asian Hollywood-influenced version of Hitler. It'll be nice to see his head on a pole some day...they could make a movie about it and send it to his successor.

They need Tungsten to live...TUNGSTEN!
France's Muslim population, since times of 18th Century connection with the Ottoman Empire, has been the greatest in all of Europe(excluding certain Balkan regions). Russia does not have a military that could defend all of itself due to the breakdown a decade ago. They could not defeat Afghanistan yet the US defeated in speedy time. Therefore i see two issues why France and Russia are so adamant in their position.
Of course, number one is oil. When i was visiting France 2 years ago, the gas prices were $5 a gallon.
::moment of silence::
They don't need that price higher, and unless there's been some under the table wheeling and dealing, that price could only have risen. Russia too is in need of oil, and this winter has not been the kindest for them.
These nations are reliant on oil from Iraq. But you all knew that.
To another point. France's Muslim population leads to a potential of suicide bombings similiar to Israel if France swung the other way. On my visit to France, the Muslim women, of course dressed as they are, weren't searched by the police as thoroughly as the white females.
In Russia, its economic position cannot afford any terrorist attacks, not to mention its supply of oil. Russia doesn't want to freeze over.
Therefore, these nations really don't have a choice when it comes to whether or not to support US involvement. There's nothing in it for them other than disaster.

wasn't 9/11 simple enough to make us recognize that we aren't immortal and invincible? There are plenty of large buildings with underdeveloped military protection to destroy. By the way, there's a military site,in a suburb of DC that if destroyed with cause chaos+free biological warfare.
And yes i will site my home state: NJ, if anyone has ever been on the NJ Turnpike one will notice at between exits 12 and 15 lies oil refineries up the wazoo, and many, many oil containers in clear view. I've always pondered what could happen if someone in a simple car like Malvo were to fire one bazooka shot at any target in that range and what havoc it would cause. All things considered, although this probably didn't get much media attention due to the RI Nightclub fire, one such oil container was lit on Staten Island, a few miles off of the Turnpike.
So you do the math: Saddam needs not invest millions in nukes or their cannisters, nor biological warfare. He'll destroy us through our own poorly defended sites.

French Indochina(A loss due to the most pathetic of military strategies second to the Maginot Line-a fortress built in a crater)

point 3: Vietnam and Cambodja: The Vietcong was a widely spread organization, with many farmers. The fact that the Americans couldn't know for sure who was Vietcong and who not caused them to murder out entire villages. The leader of suthern Nam was the dictator Diem, hated by more than half the population, he was still supported by the US.
In the war the Americans bombed eastern Cambodja heavily than any other country in the history of mankind, and that caused one quarter of the population to die.
Interesting parallel. You would have made a fantastic argument if you mentioned that Vietnam was Lyndon Baines Johnson's war, not the US's. LBJ played the game of manipulating Congress in order to force a war on the nation, not to mention having a hand in Kennedy's assassination(but that's another topic). The Tonkin Gulf Resolution was LBJ's masterpiece in forcing the worst military action the US has seen. This new Iraqi War is George W. Bush's War against the government of Iraq. Bush's influence on Congress is nowhere close to what LBJ's was, however, the war on terrorism gave him the edge and the theme he needed. I'm sure this will one day become a question in the history books of the future.

Books expand the mind, like 1984
Funny you mention 1984, it explains why Bin Laden will never be captured and that Saddam is the Goldstein of the last 2 decades.

i'm glad i'm not the only one that watches around the horn :-), answer the questions like DenkSmoker.
we have alot of optimists on this forum if 5-6 years is the average. If we didn't get permission from the UN to invade a nation, what makes you all think we'll be able to change the government of one without UN support?
true however, an extreme portent could be that South America, due to its growing hate for the US not being involved enough in its affairs, becomes a haven for terrorist groups and the money that funds them. After all, it seems to have plenty of people that wish to inflict chaos on the planet.
alrighty so that was apparently a sell, sell, sell, make sure you use that terminology in this thread at least, i understand not everyone's familiar with the show i adapted this topic from :-)
it took 50 years to fix up Germany, expect 50 for Iraq
a lesson that if a country's army does not march through the capital city of its enemy nation, the war was not won by the victor. Kosovo was won after the US marched through its capital(unfortunately Russia marched first though it did little of the work). But after this invasion red white and blue are going through Baghdad.
Hey, this forum has similarities to Around the Horn so i'll give you some topics, tell me if you buy the idea or sell it, and use those words in your answer!
1. Bush's 48 hour ultimatum as a successful tactic in bolstering American confidence in war
2. Saddam's son's refusal to leave as a sign of a potentially long, sandy, Vietnam
3. The UN having a chance to interfere with the US's invasion of Iraq within the next few months.
just don't turn this into a secret treehouse club because that's just disdainful
i guess there's some potential
lol don't get me started on shellfish, i'm a meat lover, but i can't stand that brand of food. If you wanna hear more, inquire...
that's what i heard from Mclaughlin group, plus we, with many other nations have a ton of oil, but don't share as well as Iraq.
keep your integrity ruination, the italics make you special
oh well, it's a nice parking lot though
the dunkin donut's guy looks like saddam...
the US has been dropping bombs on various sites lol, the war has already started!!
but surely Venezuela has some impact due to its connection with OPEC, had the nation been stable, would the prices of oil can be better?
